your right sunny veerji....it has become our second nature to swear..to say the 's' word when we drop something and wat not...but where does that get us?..no where, all that does is bring negative energy into our bodies....we should make it our second nature to say waheguru whenevre we drop something or watever the case may be...that way u stop swearing and receit the name of god...seems like a win -win situation to me . Pyare jio, there was a Singh who took Amrit. However being a typical punjabi, even after taking Amrit he was unable to get rid of his habit of swearing. So while doing seva he would swear. "salla this and that, mother this and that, sister this and that". Many complaints came from the sangat. Eventually he was again summoned in front of the Puanj Pyares, who asked why as an amritdahree he swore so much.

He explained, it was not intentional, in fact he was quite embarrased by it. It was just that growing in Punjab, being mostly illiterate, that was how he grew up speaking, and he was not articulate enough to change his speach.

The Punj Pyares were caught in a dilemma. After consulting each other for some time, they came up with an amazingly simple solution. They instructed him to say the word " Ji " after everything he said. He accepted it as a blessing, and practised it.

He now found it impossible to swear, because you cannot say ji, after a swear word. With time, his swearing stopped. Over time, the sangat started complimenting this Gursikh over his pyar valle speech, and the way he always say ji after everything, and to everything. The sign of a real Gursikh.

Interesting Topic...can't say I've been too good on this front, but then I've been quite lucky in having a better half who ensures sweetness in our lives!

I'd recommend asking Yogi Bhajan about this topic, he's got a great reputation for letting it rip when he needs to...

...without divluging too much, I do know of an instance when a certain Sikh approached him and the Gurdwara Sangat for some trangression on his part...let's just say that the punishment dealt out was verbal and physical!

Gursikhs never lies so no need to swear to prove his truthness.

There was a one Gursikh Premi who did langar dee seva in gurudwara bangla sahib, new delhi, india. He especially make "Dal" while taking one thing to another place he used to say "MAAF KARANA JEE" and slowly n slowly sangat called him by the name "MAAF KARANA JEE" .
