she gonn be gettin engaged against her will... what part of that dun you understand? by her nah wantin to get engaged, how is that DISRESPECTING her parents?

y'all need ta know and REALIZE that nobody should be forced to do somethin drastic like this against their wishes... you wann talk bout our Guru's?.. our Guru's spoke out against oppression... how is this different?

by readin the lass few posts, it seems like they statin to jus accept it, and try to 'look at the bright side'... it don't matter who the guy is or where he from... tha's nah the point... whether she gettin engaged or married at the age of 15, tha's nah the direct point either... i's that she's gettin FORCED into it AGAINST her wishes... so YOU need to listen to tha problem too.. i nah know wha the point of you sayin to contact you for real 'bhatra' advice.... from the looks like it, the 'bhatra' mentality is wha got her into this situation to begin wit...

THANKYOU !

Someone who actualy knows whats going through me.

contact you for real 'bhatra' advice

British Bhatra Elder as I've said before. Think about it yourself would you really think I'll be able to contact you? N I dont want no bhatra advice, Coz I know what it's going to be. All I want is to educate myself.

How likely is it for me as a bhatri girl getting married then I ask my sas that can i study? she'll slap me across my face then n there and get me to do all the housework.

How likely is it that she'll let me go university????

I agree Jaspaul Veerjee, and Bhainjee this is your life. I myself am 15 and if my parents asked me for marriage i would think they've gone mad. If a male deserves to go to University and gain an education to eventually provide an income for his family, why cant a female do the same? Why are you being stopped? At this point if youve brought people who your parents know to talk to them, would bringing an older veerjee/bhainjee to talk to them who is a Gursikh help?

However Bhainjee, in my opinion and i know alot of youth disagree to run away but you know what, yes they are your parent but do they have the right to make you throw away your life becuase of their belifs? Bhainjee, be strong and you are Sri Guru Gobind Singh je's daughter, his Warrior Singhnee. Vaheguru.

We are all with you, we love you, here for you.

Guru merae sang sadhaa hay naleyh simar simar tis sadha samaleyh||

your choices are right in front of you ..

1) either your parents understand your reasoning and let you continue in your studies and you can have it your way .. (which in your case is highly unlikely)..

2) your parents force you to get you engaged and married within a year ..

those are the two likely scenerios in your case, and the options are clearly in front of you.. its whether you want to LIVE your OWN life, or you want someone else to LIVE it FOR YOU!

I would jus like to say that alot of bhatra go throught the same thing and its down to the individual what they feel however if greater good cums from 1 sacrifice then i personally would make the sacrafice but its your decision this girl is young and maybe scared of the prospect of marrying a person she doesnt kno etc but if thats the culture then thats it break from the norm if you think it will really reck yourlife

The only titles you can add before Sikh is KhalsaSikh or GurSikh. There is no caste basis in Sikhi.I dont know how much of Guru Nanaks views you dont know of but if you believe in caste then you arent a Sikh, you are a hindu that goes to the Gurdwara.

pritam singh,

it is not your business or your duty or your right to say who a sikh is or isnt...

you make some good contributions to this board...but your arrogant attitude towards others is not necessary...and DO NOT quote our guru jis when you try to pass your judgments on others...

you are right that caste should not be an issue for sikhs...but if it is for someone...guidance with love will change things...your arrogant comments do not bring positive change...they will only lead people being more disillusioned from the path...think about that...do you want to be somoene who punked people out of the path...or someone who gave love...and through love inspired people....

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
