How Do You Teach Yourself Punjabi/gurmukhi?

i can read punjabi but very slowly and i think it is holding me back in my sikhi......as more i become sikh i will need support from my guru because im realisng that in order to keep a beard you do need discipline.....esp when in tv ads by remington keep telling you that beards are unattractive!....i find it hard to find the time to learn becuse im at law school and if anyone is currently doing the LPC will know that it is a full time job.

Do this: get some punjabi books for kids from the library and read a bit everyday, you watch your punjabi will be brill in no time! But reading gurbani is quite difficult, best thing to do there is read it whilst listening to a CD, because then u get the prouncing right and the words settle down in your head!! And dont let anyone tell you that beards are un attractive, cos I think they look pretty good!! Good luck!!

What worked best for me is doing nitnem every morning..

not all of it.. just start off with couple of pauris from japji sahib and advance from there..

the more u read bani.. the beter ur panjabi gets.

Ditto on the above recommendation by Guru Ji's Siphai. Learning the alphabet and Punjabi is all good, but you have to put it into common pratice. Doing paath is a GREAT way to learn.
