"When I sit down to meditate I can't still my mind; my mind is all over the place."

I'm ordering a couple meditation DVDs (I've read alot of good stuff about these 2) which will help me focus much better, just thought I'd share:

you should let it wander. just don't involve yourself in the wandering... IGNORE IT. I know its easier said than done. But it works. As soon as you ignore the mind, in that instant the thoughts fade away as they were never there. If a thought does come to mind, that should be a sign to you that you should become more aware and take a step back and let the thought run its self out. If someoen comes to you home and you ignore them sooner or later they will leave as he/she is not welcomed. Thoughts work the same way. They are the Guests in your mind. Its up to you to attend the guests or not. That is hardest part of meditation, just ignoring th

e thoughts as they are not there. I am in the same boat as you are, but this understanding helps me deal with those thoughts.

to further help you, try to become a watcher of your thoughts in the everyday life, not just when you are meditating.
