Sikhs should beware of some persons in the so called Sant Samaj who dont even stand by their own words and it would be foolish to expect something concrete can be achieved on the dera sirsa issue under their leadership.Today the Sant Samaj was expected to court arrest at Chandigarh .Anyway since the punjab police did not allow the march to proceed to chandigarh they sat on a dharna at Mohali .badal came to meet them and tried to persuade them to lift the dharna .

At this point the Sant Samaj announced that now they are going to sit for "unmithay samay da dharna" .By evening we heard that the "un mithay samay da dharna" had come to an end .Do these so called sants expect the sirsa saadh to be arrested in this way ?

Moreover even in this Sant Samaaj there are so called Sants who run their own deras and are to some extent involved in politics directly or indirectly. Now Sikhs or Akal Takht dont go against these "sants" as they are connected to Sikhi. But even in their deras some practices against Sikhi are being carried out.I sometimes personally feel very suspicious about involvement of such dubious people (most of whom run their own deras although they may be speaking against Sirsa dera at this juncture)in the Sant Samaj and about their capability of leading the Sikh kaum in the present struggle.

As some Sikh writer wrote about such "Sants","Babas" in a newspaper "Aa gol paggaan alay he kisay din Guru ban baithangay ".

Some of these so called Sants have indeed tried to potray themselves as Gurus and people have been bowing before them in the past though now these so called "sants" are no longer following the practice of matha tek by their followers but still we can hear their own baani in their ashrams and deras instead of quoting directly from Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji .It is a pity that Sikh Sangat particularly women visit these so called Sikh deras or ashrams in thousands .It seems like we people in Punjab have made dera culture (Sikh related and non Sikh related) a part of our life instead of following and uniting directly under Guru Granth Sahib ji .

Even some Amritdharis are following some non Sikh practices .As Sant Bhindranwalay said once their are 2 types of Sikhs : "Kaali" and "Akaali ".Kaali are those who bow before Shri Guru Granth Sahib and also in front of dieties etc and go to temples whereas a true Akaali bows only before Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji .It seems in Punjab we have more Kaalis than Akaalis .

Perhaps no one like Sant Bhindranwale is there or will arise to give direction to the Sikh kaum today.Sant Bhindrawale was a true Sant Sipahi .But today we may have Sants but not many Sant Sipahis in the Sant Samaj .However I may be wrong but I personally have faith in Bhai Baljit Singh Dadu Sahib walay of Sant Samaj. He seems to be a true soldier.Listen to him talking about an incident involving the Sants and police on December 20,1998 :

http://www.sikhsiyasat.com/misc/14jun07.html

He's a good orator and a motivator and seems to me a true saint soldier .For those who followed the events at Sirsa dera after the Sarbat Khalsa at Talwandi Sabo know that the dera spokesman demanded the arrest of Bhai Baljit Singh Dadu Sahib walay and Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu amongst others and imposition of President's rule in Punjab .So it seems that Sirsa dera fears Bhai Baljit Singh Dadu Sahib Walay and not Harnam Singh Dhuma .

It is good to note that Bhai Baljit Singh Dadu Sahib walay is in the 15 member Khalsa Action Committee of Panthic jathebandis .I may be wrong but are we seeing another Sant Bhindrawalay in the making ?

Ask me first, Vedanti appeals to Sikhs

Amritsar, June 19

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti today appealed to the Sikh masses and various Panthic organisations to take his consent before launching any programme to protest against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh.

Jathedar Vedanti said in his appeal that blasphemous acts of the Dera chief had hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community all over the world. He said there was a need to maintain unity in the Panth and to be cautious against the conspirators, who were trying to create fissures in the unity of the Panth. - TNS

Is he trying to indirectly abort the Khalsa March from Dina Kangar to Talwandi Sabo on June 24 ?? grin.gif

Today's dharna at Mohali by Sant Samaj was lifted after SGPC President Avtar Singh urged the Sants to lift it at the instance of Vedanti .

Dont know how long can Vedanti,Avtar Singh expect to gain respect from the Sikh community after their continous dubious role in the Sikh - Sirsa Dera conflict .

" Akal Takht Mahaan hai,Sikh Panth di shaan hai " but the role of the present mukh sewadars is questionable.

Arrest warrant against dera chief

Chander Parkash

Tribune News Service

Bathinda, June 20

In a significant development that could give a new twist to the standoff between Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikh organisations, additional chief judicial magistrate A.L. Kitchi today issued arrest warrant against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, head, Dera Sacha Sauda, in connection with a criminal case registered against him under Section 295-A of the IPC on May 20 in Bathinda.

Sources said the magistrate directed the police to seek permission from the state government before arresting him.

A formal application was moved in the court by the police for securing his arrest warrant on June 18. However, the court took up the application yesterday and later adjourned the case.

The case was registered on the complaint of Rajinder Singh Sidhu, president, Khalsa Diwan. The dera head was charged with hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs through his blasphemous act of imitating Guru Gobind Singh and enacting the religious baptism ceremony.

The police has also registered two criminal cases against dera followers for their alleged involvement in violence on May 14 and 15. Nearly 20 followers have been arrested so far.

Nau Nihal Singh, SSP, said the police would get the copy of arrest warrants tomorrow.

UNI adds: While referring to the plea of the prosecution, the court questioned the motive behind registering the case at a police station in Bathinda instead of at the Bhagta police station as the dera head had enacted the baptism ceremony at Salabatpura village. The prosecution contended that the case was registered at a local police station after the complaint of a local resident and, moreover, Bathinda, too, had been affected by the violence that followed the Salabatpura incident.

As the police had not sought the permission of the state government while registering the case, the court directed the prosecution to get the permission. The court pointed out that for registering a case under Section 295-A, the permission had to be first sought from the government.

After the prosecution assured the court that the permission would be formally sought from the government, the magistrate issued non-bailable warrants that are returnable by July 1. During the arguments yesterday, the prosecution told the court that the police had raided the dera at Sirsa twice in the recent past to arrest Ram Rahim. However, on both occasions due to the presence of a large number of followers, the police could not arrest him.
