achaa well then what is it about??? and yehh i know realising guru ji is a very important factor and doing bani, but that doesnt mean you have to give up things you like doing...with the right intentions

IMHO on the path of Gursikhi, you don't give up things you like doing, it's just that the things you used to like doing become tasteless and don't give you a buzz anymore. From then on one's opinion of 'fun' changes e.g. instead of doing Bhangra you want to different things.

Everyone's on different rungs of the ladder.

I had this debate with myself once - wat is dance? Its a collection of movements....are movements wrong....or is it the composition of movements

Likewise - wat is music....Its a collection of sounds....are sounds wrong....or is the composiiton of the sounds

this is off topic but, ok.

then wats wrong with sikh people saying Guru Gobind Singh never existed? There just sound waves coming out of a person mouth right?

Wats wrong with me flicking off guru ji? its just my hand movment right?

Why didnt chote shaibzadey just give in to emperor of shirhad, and SAY that they were not sikh? It would have just been words coming out of their mouth. Instead they chose to get bricked alive.

If you think of it like that, then nothign matters, and nothing is wrong. but sound it self has no life. movements themselvs have no life, its the people making the sounds or movements that matter.

i could go on, but off topic, make new thread or pm with questions.

It was a rhetorical question. Let me break it down. Music itself and Dance itself cannot be right or wrong. How can we say music ie sound is wrong? In essence the problem is with our terminology....in life there is what is best as opposed to right or wrong. In music its the meaning and thoughts (ie the psychological feeling which can be interepreted as for the best or not for the best).

When I listen to 50cent I unconsiously think of belonging to a gang culture and being the PIMP. Likewise when I listen to tracks like Don't lie by Shakira and Beyonce then gosh how I wanna be able to do those moves. Bhangra tracks likewise like Groundshaker affect me cos I'm like yay I'm a gabroo...also when I listen to Bollywood tracks like My Dil goes Hmmm or Dhoom its sounds have affects.

We have to decide if this affect is for the best, how much of it plays on our emotions, how it affects our thinking and which of it is meaningful or true?

ok. thats what i was saying....?

my main point in all of thread is that i dont hear of our guru's doing bhangra or listening to music, so why do we feel the need that we should it? or that its needed?
