i remember when i was yung, i used to go gurdwara get my parshad, listen for like 10 mins then go and play wid nex kids. b4 we went home there was a rack it used to have literature on guru sakhis, shaheeds etc we used to take them home and read. thats how i learnt most of my history. alot of people used to get into sikhi when sumthing hit them threw a the literature. anyway my cus sis, has made a catalouge of leaflets , from paratan shaheeds to modern days ones and on guru sakhi. i mean to print them out and photocopy them is peanuts, its about 3p per photocopy, lets work together to spread our history, there aint none like it: if u want sum literature contact her on harpreets12@hotmail.co.uk

you aint been to wednesfield? at wednesfield gurdwara there is a literature stand right which was put up there bythe youths. The comiittee have tried to have it removed on several occasions.

Havelock Rd has a very good library athough I think the opening times are something like 10am to 2pm which doesn't allow a lot of people who are at work or school/college the time to access it during the week. I got into Sikhi through the small library that used to in the car park of the old Gurdwara in the late 80s. That library used to be a mine of information not only book or magazines but also the discussions that people used to have there.

well done to the youth at wenesfield gurdwara, Why wud the committee remove such a sikhi ordaind missonary thing. they must be anti -panthic or masands, most of the gurdwaras r run by two faced money making people who dont really care about sikhi from heart. i guess if they see abit of literature on a shaheed singh that defended his people and fought for independence they throw it in the bins. ehhm i think due to most gurdwara comiites r youth r suffering cos instaed of doing parchar the youth have to concentrate on reforming the gurdwara.

i guess perhaps all us youth need to take a page out of the BC Youth "movement" and get involved with the gurdwara's... Vancouver area now has 2 gurdwara's that have a youth committee (or sub committee)... tha's huge.. and yeh in the UK i's really bad... maybe sum1 who's studyin law in the UK can provide some information on Religious Buildings, and their code of conduct.. and whatever gurdwara's are doin shady tings, the sangat can take them to court.. cah the gurdwara's are supposed to be representin the sangat, and to be a proper representation of the Sikh faith...

otherwise, i's 'false advertising' and 'defamataion of character'... and the gurdwara's heads can be held liable and be kicked out of seva.. cah a GuruGhar is not classified as a business entity...
