SP as been re-created in London and is active in the realm of drug-dealing, prostitution etc It is used by certain Sikh youth organisations and gurdware to silence opponents. It has insider links within the police in the London area reason why no real action as been taken against them. They have also been very active in spreading rumours about Muslims converting Sikh and Hindu girls although it is known that they themselves have been active in getting Muslim girls into their pimping network.

ps. as far as Muslims converting Hindu and Sikh girls are concerned. From my knowledge this is mostly true of Salafi groups like Hizbut Tahrir. But their main objective is to convert Shi'a girls not just Hindus and Sikhs.Just for info...

I have these informations from an ex SP from the London area. Of course I can't reveal his name but sure is these people have nothing to do with Sikhi. But if you want to defend criminals that's up to you!

This topic has been discussed many times before, but just to reiterate.. SP was Birmingham based, not London. It was headed by patriotic pro-Khalistani Panjabis who felt the need to stand up for the community, back then racist attacks, especially turban attacks were very common, as well as grooming, prostitution.

Because of the SP many sleazy day time gigs were banned. Gigs where naïve school girls would attend, easy prey for perverts. These gigs were organised by apneh to make a quick buck and take advantage of the fact that back then most Panjabi families wouldn’t allow daughters out late at night. Bhangra stars like Malkit Singh publicly apologised to SP for his wrong doings at these gigs.

Over a few years the reputation of SP grew and everyone was trying to live off the reputation, the hierarchy was no longer in control of all those who claimed to be SP.

Some took advantage of the street cred that SP had built up, and used to name for drugs. Hence the reason SP was officially closed, and newsletters stopped.

Yes, gangs did take advantage of the SP name, and yes things like drugs, and protection rackets happened, But pimping was never associated to SP.

If your “mate” from London did so, he did it off his own back, and was a shame to the name SP. In all honesty, he woulda been shot if he tried his luck doing that in Birmingham.

In the underworld and protection rackets the name SP is still prominent, and a youth revival of the original principles of which SP stood for is beginning to make a come back.

There are many good men, true Sikhs who stood up for Sikh values and the Panjabi community, many risked life and limb, some did time under the name SP. Don’t paint them all with the same brush because of you’re <banned word filter activated> “mate”.

In term of “defending criminals” I think you’ll find most of the heroes of our Panth were lawbreakers and revolutionists.

I defend them in my Ardas everyday.

SP had a huge reputation back in the day in birmingham and a lot of what they did was very respectful and brave. but things changed i think mainly because responsibilities got passsed down and ego. they are so corrupt. from videos on youtube on prostitution and the exploitation of women to recently where they were extorting money from drug dealing. in birmingham they tried influencing commitee members in gudwareh there, threatening them with violence etc to get peopel who they wanted elected. so corrupts its unbelievable.

over and out

What a load of tutti shamser!

Yes, some guys who were affiliated to SP have gone into criminal activities. No one is pimping though. I think the only place I heard this rumour is from some gora "expert" on gangs. This rumour seems to be spreading through nobs like yourself. I've met some as.sho SPs but not a single one who was pimping! The real reason for this misinformation is that people want to disempower them because the truth is, compared to most Sikh groups they have/had much support in the community and are/were willing to make the type of sacrifices that frankly, the majority of people calling themselves Sikhs wouldn't or just plain couldn't.

The truth is that SP were active and very effective for a while. They spread from Birmingham to other parts of England quite dramatically in the mid to late 90s. It was more to raise consciousness of grooming for conversions and Panjabi politics (wide spread human rights abuses.)

Given that Islamic fundamentalism has now become such an issue in the country and grooming of dumb girls is also becoming increasingly uncovered across communities by certain groups. You could say that they were well ahead of their times. Even before many original members fought with skinheads when your average "Asian" would get paki bashed and run off.

Yes certain crooked individuals have affiliated themselves with the name and have been doing bad things in the midlands but many guys who were in, had good intentions. You can't blame corruption on SP because it seems to be a part of all Sikh institutes these days incl. Khalistani movement, Akali Dal, certain Nihung Dals, SGPC.

Me personally speaking (and I'm grown up enough to know that people will have different opinions), will always respect active people over people who sit on the sidelines and b.itch out the place. In this context i have a lot of respect for certain SP guys (not the crooked criminal type.)

I've met some from the old days who are now lawyers, barristers, teachers and live good straight lives. Just focusing on the crooked ones doesn't give you a true picture of what they were about. If your interested in the truth you have to look for it in the face of blatant lies.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
