See bibi if you surely know that it is happening because you stopped takin cod liver oil pills then i would suggest you should continue taking those. I don't kow the reasons why you stopped taking animal products but cod liver oil is more of an medicine. You are not consuming it to satisfy your taste buds. hanna?

I don't know if you are an amritdhari bibi but if you are amritdhari you should talk to the panj and am sure you'll get the right advice from em. I don't know if there is any other alternate medicine for that.

Some people will give you all sorts of advice that as a sikh you shouldn't consume certain things. Trust me bibi sikhi is a very practical religion. I would definitely respect sangat's views but won't agree with em.

You know what your problem is and you know the solution too. What else do you want?? Sikhi is not about confining oneself in a bubble, sikhi is infact a way out of this bubble.

You won't be doing anything wrong if u take a pill everyday. Decision is your to make and i am sure you'll make a decision which helps you stay healthy. My daddy always tells me "je sehat nahi pher bhagti vi nahi ho sakdi".

Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsaa! Vaheguroo Jee Ki Fatheh!

Jee found this:

Cod Liver Oil Alternatives

Q. Can you recommend a veggie substitute for cod liver oil – something to help grease my old bones a bit better and keep them moving!

A. You’re quite right to want to ditch fish oils, as our fishing for facts campaign shows. The stuff which seems to do the lubricating job is omega-3 fats. They also have anti-inflammatory properties, can help protect the heart, boost brain development and aid the retina and other organs, including the skin.

The argument often used against plant sources of omega-3 (ALA) is that it isn’t easily absorbed by the body whereas fish omega-3 oils are (DHA and EPA). In fact, the body is adequately equipped to convert ALA into both DHA and EPA – in other words, you can happily obtain your omega 3 from linseeds (flax), rapeseed oil, green leafy vegetables and walnuts.

In oil form, all you need is about a tablespoon of flaxseed oil a day. This oil must be keep cold and away from light or the oil will degenerate. It can be used for salad dressings and poured over vegetables but isn’t suitable for cooking, which destroys the fats. A handful of mixed, unsalted nuts and seeds each day, such as walnuts, linseeds, brazils, almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower and sesame seeds, can also do the trick.

Oily fish get their omega 3 from algae in the sea – and you can do the same. BioCare manufacture vegetable omega 3 in soft-gel veggie capsules (tel: 0121 433 3727).

The VVF now stocks ‘Well-Oiled’ – a blend of omega 3, omega-6 and omega-9 fats manufactured by a medical herbalist based in South Wales. Donations from its sale support the VVF’s vital campaigns. Click here to order.

Hope this helps.

how old are you? you can use flaxseed oil and other anti-inflammatory substances like "adhrak da pani" - ginger extract, using desi kyo (you read that right) and many ayurvedic remedies as well.

The best plan though, is to treat the cause not the symptoms. Some types of yoga really help arthritis sufferers, definitely worth a try.

Above all, "Sarab Rog Ka Aukhad Nam".

I used to have kinda the same problem... my knees used to click alot and they used to hurt too. I tried loads of things including some really expensive Glucosamine tablets which didnt work.

But then I started taking Flaxseed Oil from Hallands and Barratts and it really did work! Its got vege omega-3 fatty oil which is what you need for good joints. The tablet versions include geletine so best to stick to the oil and mix it in with your food or drink it on its own if your strong enough lol.

hi, i recommend flaxseed oil, it contains omega-3 and is a good alternative for fish oil. seven seas make one which is quite expensive, or u can get the tesco brand one. and also pick up some exercise like swimming, cylcing, walking to increase use of your joints which will help keep them healthy

baba ji,

I guess you missed many things that i had written in the post. I said i don't know if there are any alternatives for cod liver oil. I also mentioned that if the bibi is amritdhari she can always go to the "panj" and consult them.

Now compromising the rehit question.

I am a Sikh not a Brahmin. If no alternates are available i see no harm in having cod liver oil. Its not that people take medicine for pleasure. We are using animal products in a certain way. I see no difference in eating and using animal products, animal is being killed for either purpose.

I hope i have made myself clear on this trivial issue and I am not going to get into any sort of argument over this matter with you.

Bhul Chuk Maaf!!

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
