babersher - when you go into a Gurdwara Sahib you dont matha teek - its charan dhoor - same when you touch the feet of elders - and this as far as i have learned is never done infront of Guru mahraj - Indirectly you are putting the elder or in this case the choor sahib higher or give it more respect than Guru Ji. In my books touching your head on the chor sahib is matha teek.

Not trying to cause a fight or anything here guys .. just learning!

of course you wound do mata tek of elders infront of guru ji.

Well jassa said that a hazooria is used to wipe any dust etc from Maharaj's rummalle, and as carin correctly said, many people also use it for their own personal hygiene. Apparently the stance on why we use hazoorias isn't clear. If you could get back to us with that book reference, that would be good as I would also like to know.
