No-one will really tell you how much baNee they know by heart because then it gives them haumai (ego).

yup, ur right, and sometimes if u do tell.. u can never do that much again.

think of it as a bank account..... we dont tell ppl hw much maya we have in our accounts do we? and gurujees bani is wayy wayyy higher and valuable than that :D

i know nitnem by heart from 5 morning banis, to rehraas sahib and sohila

The only advice I can give is try t understand Gurbani.. waht Guru Nanak is saying.. and do nitnem everyday.. it will ingrain into you.

I used to do Tavprasad Svaye (Deenan Kee Pritpaal..) and Shabad Hazare (Pathshahi 5 and 10) and within weeks i began to know them by heart

U can see nitnem as a revision session :D

PS: im not being egotistical as LOTLS will tell u

Dhan Dhan Revolutionary Ji 420

lols just joking...

And why keep it gupt? This is what guruji didnt want. Like brahmin pandits keeping everything secret from normal people thereby misleading them etc

we're not misleading people by not telling them what bani we *personally* have memorized. How does that harm others?

Honestly, it doesn't.

What WOULD harm them if we didn't share the gurbani we know by heart to them, when they NEEDED it in life...

I hope i've been clear enough.. if not, let me know

but memorizing any paath.. the technique is the same.. repetition, and a desire to learn!!

it should apply to any paath :D
