first id like to say, what a name!! dil rubab!!! lovit!

and i have three budda dal gutkas and thats why i need the banis online to save me from typing it up. as i am making a gutka. with the help of giani ji from harmandar sahib. he has all the correctness in bani..

and thanks for the web site!

i have another q.. in amrit sawayae pauri 4, at the end of each tuk,it has a laav and then a dolav.. ON EACH OF THEM.

iv been told by 3 seperate sorces that its just the last line that has a laav-dolav and the rest of the pauri has just laav-laav. is this correct????

cus the divayaa pauri is the only one that has the sihaari.... so jus wud like a few thorts on this...

thats the fourth pauri singho. as u can see, its both laav and dolaav.

and if u have 3 budda dal gutka sahibs, why are u asking these questions? why not just see how the gutka sahibs have the banis??

^^

i know that. but iv heard from 3 different sources, one is a vidunti/ ardaasi of sri harmandar sahib, and nothr is somone who does khorj. there are numerous mistakes in jaap sahib. in parang param parmeswarang....., in this line, they write papa rara mama, and papa rara mama. it should be papa rara tipi, and papa rara mama. in nearly all chaachri chands, the matra dont add up.

in japji sahib, guni nidaan should be one word. when the people were deciding what to seperate and what to not, some words got seperated while others didnt. haraam khor is one word. some gutke they print it seperate. the list goes on!!

adaks are missed. sanaanang and sanaanae and isnaanang, which is correct in the gutka sahib? ( i believe it to be sanang!! :) ) so many people are questioning this but nothing is being done. i want to get a team together and go across to all the puratan beeds and find out the truth.

the sources i have, that have told me otherwise, have done this khorj, and, me being me, i want to find out for myself.

and one of the things that was told to me, was this that it wasਲੇਖੈ that was the only one with the laav-dolav. all the rest before was laav-laav..

this is why my question is here.

soz bout the font!

gurfateh!

one mor thing....

how are we supposed to know if dasam pita wrote samapt must submast,

or

samaptam sat subam sat??!!

confuzzling init!

gurfateh!

u got too many questions. do wat u think is right. but here is an audio link of the 5 amrit bania, that is 100% correct in every single letter and punctuation: http://gurbaniupdesh.com/multimedia/listin...antheya+Ucharan

"smapt must submast" is same as "samaptam sat subam sat"

its where u pause that makes all the difference.

smapt must submast and samaptam sat subam sat

"smapt" and "samapt" then "must" and "msat" then "sub" and "sub" then "mast" and "msat"

i used differnt colors to show which words have the same sound.

Stanza of short rhyming pairs

These six stanzas of supreme power Bhagwati are very auspicious.

Their daily recitation promotes firm belief in the devotee.

By daily chanting prayer of mother Durga,

Eternal salvation is readily achieved.

The sixth Bhagwati stanza has come to an end.

Reciting it has eliminated all doubts.

When the incomprehensible Godly Power conferred her blessings,

She exalted Her slave.

Sufferings, illness, sorrow, fear and torment all vanished.

Abundance of blissfulness and harmony prevailed.

This is how (Mother) Durga blessed,

and shielded her slave.

Sri (Guru) Gobind Singh (Ji) accomplished auspiciously the six Bhagwati stanzas.

Hmm. So, I have only very recently come across this bani in my Tarna Dal gutka. I've never seen it in any Dasam Granthi pothi I've ever seen either.

Does anyone have any information on the date of composition? Why was it removed from the Dasam Granth, and when was it removed?

I must confess, though the bani is beautiful to read, I find some of the lines a little .. difficult. Though it's obvious that Durga is a creation of the Almighty, why would Guru Gobind Singh bow his head to a force that is inferior to Akal Purukh?

(By the way, please don't let this to degenrate into a debate of the veracity of Dasam bani.)

The Sodhak Committee came togheter between 1895-1897 and studied the 32 Dasam Granth birs that were circulating around Majha's Amritsar area at that time.

From them the standard Dasam Granth was made and 8 Bani's were removed.

Standard Dasam Granth contains 16 Banis (15 because 1, the Khalsa Mehma, is a Bani from Sarbloh Granth) and 8 Banis were removed. Means in all 32 Dasam Granth Birs togheter, 23 different Banis were present.

And Uggardanti was not part of these 23 Banis, thus was never "removed" by anyone, just not included in the standard bir.

So it must be contained in Pothis outside of Amritsar.

There are many Bani's likewise, that werent in the Amritsar area Dasam Granth's but were there in Dasam Birs of outside Amritsar or Punjab. (Uggardanti, etc)

Uggardanti Bani is one of many Banis which were removed from Dasam Granth in around 1897 by the Sodhak Commitee and so any Birs printed after that date would include only the Banis they approved and standardized which is quite condescending and ridiculous really, to think that some man-made commitee

of so-called scholars should use their imperfect buddhis to decide which Banis should be included. or not.

Luckily Purataan Nihangs Singh Jathebandis have paid no interest to these commitees and they have preserved these Banis like Sri Bhagauti Astotar etc... in their Gutkha Sahibs which have been unchanged since ancient times.

In regard to Guruji's obvious respect for Durga in such compositions, if one looks at it with a NeoSikh, revisionist attitude it will seem negative, but from a purataan perspective there is no contradiction as Guruji obviously never worshipped any incarnation, goddess etc...

But if you read Suraj Prakash Granth you will find the sakhi of Dushtdamon saving Durga, thus there is a connection from past lives.

Thanks for the information, Veer Ji. Do you know the names of the other banis that were not included in the standard Dasam Bir and where I can find them online?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a Neo-Sikh revisionist attitude. Would you care to explain the distinction between this and the purataan perspective, Veer Ji?

I agree that Dasmesh Pita did not worship any Devi/Devata, and the composition of Ugardanti taken as a whole refutes the idea of Durga being the supreme being, but I have trouble understanding lines like "Whosoever prays to you crosses over this ocean of the illusory world". I feel that this goes beyond the idea of respect.

The Chaubis Avatar, Chandi di //, all have warlike retellings of traditional Hindu tales, but none of these seem to include lines like "I am your slave longing for the dust of your feet" (written in the first person it seems by Guru Gobind Singh).

Thanks for your input.
