if it becomes the norm then ppl wont have the face to say to your parents " omg your kid married___" because within their own families someone would have done the same

i think if society sees sikhs who are practising go by the word of the guru and not create castes etc and involve everyone in sikhi and marry with each other in that sense then that is a "normal thing", it becomes the norm, it's something we have to be able to take upon ourselves to restore sikh values which many of our elders have almost erased again, it is up to us to keep real sikhi alive with guru jis kirpa

A Sikh is to marry only a Sikh as per the Sikh Rehit Maryada. What you see around you is only a reflection of society creating its own norms, not what was framed by our Guru Sahibaan. At the end of the day, it all boils down to what is your priority in life. If its Sikhi, you will NEVER marry a non-Sikh. If its not, please feel free to marry whoever you wish to. Being proud to be a Sikh or not is again your choice. Those who were proud are remembered daily in our Ardas as martyrs who suffered the most unspeakable and unthinkable tortures, and chose death rather than giving up on Sikhi. Those who are not proud to be Sikhs can become whatever they want to.

If they're really Sikh, then there will be no issue.

End of story. Killed it right there!

I think ppl naturally feel comfortable marrying into their caste as a safe zone lol,

Me persoanlly Hell NO! i dont wanna marry a jatt@! Now for the Stereotypes: They dont kno how to speak sweetly, theyll yell and swear at me ust like they swear at their buffalo cows!

Now if i were to marry a Bapha  he would be jolly and speak sweetly and buy me suits from his store HAHAHAHAHA

ill stop enteertaining myself,

Mr SIKHNET acually wrote a blog entry of how he was thinknig of becoming a bachola and hooking up 3ho sikhs with other western sikhs he knows!

http://www.mrsikhnet.com/index.php/2005/09/06/am-i-the-bachola-matchmaker/

"As I started to travel this year to other places like Canada and UK I realized that there were some really cool modern, spiritual, open minded, single Sikhs out there from “punjabi” background. It just opened up the possibilities. Most of my friends are “white” and from a western background, so naturally would want to meet someone with similar background (cultural/spiritual). There is definitely a stereotype of your typical Indian Sikh and their roles in marriage. People and relationships are very different in India and places like US/UK. However….someone who is born and raised in a western country would be very similar, and more compatible."

i hate caste. i hate that fact that people are trying to tarnish gursikhi by saying that caste matters. blah blah blah. even people who seem to be gursikhs have shown that when it comes to caste, they dont want their kids marrying outside of it.

now i would happily marry outside my "caste"

HOWEVER, my family would have a huge issue with it. id probably be disowned.

which means i cant. i am being forced to conform. how can a marriage take place without the family?

i hate caste, but it looks like i have no choice but to go along with it.

if i have kids, there is no way that i am going to allow anyone to enforce this caste nonsense on them.

hopefully with time and with guroo maharaajs apaar kirpa, people will realise that caste is stupidity to the extreme.

mandetory for the spread and survival of sikhism is to marry Sikhs only that doesnt matter what race, ethnicity or nationality they are as long as they are Sikhs and you as a couple will produce Sikh kids to continue the faith otherwise as history shows people who dont pass on Sikhism to their kids find that their kids become lost in a world directionless and in clutches of those who want to harm your faith cos of their abrahmic-facist or national socialist athiestic ideology.
