Sacha 'Patshah' refers to the Emporer of the spiritual realm, where as 'Badshah' refers to Emporer of the temporal realm.

The terms Patshah and Badshah have historically been used to differenciate the rule of the Gurus and Mughals.

The term Patshah from what I recall came into affect during 6th Masters time - in light of his Royal Darbar.

Satguru means 'True Guru'. The one who connects your soul directly to the Supreme. In other words, Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.

Khaalis's explanation is just awesome! :) Just wow!

Bhai Gurdas Ji says:

satigur sachaa paatisaahu guramukhi gaadee raahu chalaaiaa

The true Guru, the real emperor has put the Guru-oriented (gurmukh) on the high road ( of liberation).

The true guru is referred to Sahib Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj.

He also says:

paatisaahaan paatisaahu hai abachalu raaju vadee paatisaahee|

He (the Lord) is emperor of emperors whose rule is stable and kingdom greatly large.

Meaning that Maharaj Ji is not the fake worldly badshah whose kingdom is limited to this world only. It means that Maharaj Ji is a True emperor---SACHA Patshah. He is not just heard in Dargah but he is also an emperor to other Patshahs present in the Dargah. So he is 'paatisaahaan paatisaahu'. The other Patshahs are be Peers/Sadhus, so on...Basically, the souls that do Bhagati. =)

I remember my mum explaining this to us once. She referred to the Sangat as a Patshaahs who are dear to the Sacha Patshah (Maharaj Ji). Maharaj Ji adores his Sangat. It's a different story altogether. :)

Satguru = Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj

Sacha Patshah = Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj

To think so it...both terms are used for Maharaj Ji. There really is no difference. They are both true definitions. True: "Sacha" and "Sat"... Used for the great truth itself! =)
