Couple things, was this in fact a Gurdwara Election meeting? Or simply a community meeting of the Ramgharias? Also secondly, if they were not in a Gurughar, are you sure they actually would refer to alcohol and meat as "Langar"?! Was this confirmed by anyone?

This is Graham street Gurdwara committee. Something needs to be done, they have a really good Gurdwara, very good location, good size halls and facilities but THEY DON'T USE THEM! No Kirtan darbars, no rehnbhais and their Gurmat camp is not all that, only the punjabi school classes children attend.

The committie members are not setting a good example at all! How are they supposed to teach Sikhi and say you shouldn't drink, eat meat, cut your hair, follow rehat when they don't follow it themselves!

Alot of the Ramgharia Gurdwara are doing very good things now for the youth, but not this one.

Sikhs dont have to be amritdhari's and who said that amritdhari's should have to run gurdwara's. The best people available should run the gurdwara regardless of whether they are amritdhari or not. On this basis , comittee members can do what they want and have a drink if they choose. I would prefer decent sikhs who drink to run a gurdwara rather than amritdhari's who have a sneaky drink or have got a few screws loose and pull out a kirpan every time there is a disagreement.

Down in small heath, the situation is dire, beyond resolution.

The committee talks about doing this, that, the other but they don't do anything. For years and years, they went on about how they'd convert a car park into a massive new gurdwara. Took so long, a mosque got built in its place.

When the guy who teaches Shin-Kin went down and asked about teaching kids, they refused on basis of usage of electricity etc. They wanted money. When the same teacher put forward about getting a grant from the Govt for a sports hall that could be built, the committee wanted to know what they could get out of it.

They don't like speakers promoting the taking of Amrit. Everything is a watered-down, modified version.

As for Gurdwaras, no committee was needed until last few decades. Everything was run by five Singhs who had same authority as Guru. Guru + 5 Singhs = God.
