Guru Gobind Singh Ji wrote the salok as a reply to the previous salok by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Salok written by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was to test the spiritually resolve of SRi Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Again i suggest referring to the Amir Bhandar Teeka. If you dont have access to a copy i can scan it for the sangat?

Here are some pictures of Puraatan Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. These are taken from the Takhats. Next time you visit any of the Takhats, you will see Guru Granth Sahib Ji saroops prepared by Baba Mani Singh Ji and Baba Deep Singh Ji. They all have either Mahalla 10 or Patsahi 10.

So after guru gobind singh g sent these replies or 'explanations' from guru teg bahadur testing them, guru teg bahadur sahib corrected 11 y o guru gobind singh g and this is what we read.
