What Is The Bij Mantar?

bhram gyanis say that

mool mantar up to gurprasaad - because this is the 'description' or 'mool' of the nirgun saroop (as well as the ustat)

maha mantar up to naanak hosi bhi sach

for a literal meaning...

beej mantar is the mantar that can seed guru and all greatness and naam within ourselves - if we jup naam n try and go towards god, as well as the mantar that we must seed into. (dissolve into - as salt is to water, so are we to god.)

beej mantar can be seen as to mean god. it is from this seed, everything starts. the naam 'motor' the chaal, the raman (jaap) of naam, how simran turns into naam.. everything. this is how we start on our marag (spiritual pathway).

it can be seen as this.

the beej mantar is what we must enshrine within ourselves, as we can enshrine ourselves within it - the beej mantar.

everything we do - the saas saas simran; the simran with our heartbeat; the simran with the steps of our walking, the repetition the 'abhyaas' - which means saying summin over and over again, doing this by yourself, or in sadh sangat(where it gets amplified exponentially) this is all do 1 thing. enshrine naam;the vibration; the seed, within ourselves. this is also known as the beej mantar.

so it can be seen, as per the above comment, that beej mantar can be seen as god.

beej mantar never dies and is always there. is it always with you. just as the vibration of the universe is.

beej mantaris the center of all things surrounding it, but it is also (!) the things surrounding the beej mantar it self. nirgun aap sargun bhi or-hi.

idk which bhramgianis you might be talking about bhaji, but

baba deep singh ji shaheed, bhai mani singh ji shaheed, baba nand singh ji nanaksar, baba attar singh ji mastuane, baba ishar singh ji rara sahib, baba harnam singh ji rampurkhera, baba maha harnam singh ji, baba jwalla singh ji harkoal wale, baba jagit singh ji harkoal wale, baba karrak singh ji, baba seva singh ji rampurkhera, baba karam singh ji hotimardan wale, baba sundar singh ji bhindranwale, baba gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale, baba katar singh ji bhindranwale, baba jarnail singh ji bhindranwale, baba thakur singh ji bhindranwale

these bhramgianis all say that mool mantar is up to nanak hosi bhi sach.

can you plz tell us which bramgiani's of the panth have ever said that mool mantar is up to gurparsad??

Bhai sahib Bhai randhir singh ji Bhai sahib Bhai Raama Singh Ji Bhai Sahib Bhai Jeevan singh ji. And biggest of all GURU JEE! Do proper vayakaran of gurbani and also Baba Deep Singh Ji and Bhai Mani Singh Ji both did mool manter up to Gur Prasad, if you believe differently please state your evidence, and also (they started taksaal, and taksaals maryada is puratan is not a valid answer because taksaals maryada has changed many times in the past)eg. Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji Mahapursh said Jhatak is ok. Baba Takhur Singh Ji said all meat is bad... and changed the maryada when he was at position of Jathdari..dont believe me believe in the records... Gurfatheee jiooo = )

Looking at the meaning of Mool Mantar, It is incomplete till Gurprasad. After the explanation of Akal Purak in(Ek Ong Kar Satnam Karta Purakh Nirbhau Nirvaer Akal Murat Ajooni Saibang)

and Guru Nanak ji Says Gur Prasad(Only by Guru's Prasad or Dristi or Mehar you achieve Akal Purakh) and then Jap Aad Sach,Jugad Sach,Hapbi Sach,Nank Hosi bhi Sach(After getting Guru Prasad, Guruji tells us to do JAP. JAp who? who was Aad Sach Jugad Sach,Hapbi Sach Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach(Akal Purakh)

And BTW please. Entire Japji Sahib and Other Baanis in SGGSji is Mantar.

Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in his wisdom, laid down how the Panth should function. He did not see the need to establish a ‘committee’, such as the SGPC, to oversee Sikh affairs.

Damdami Taksal has had an unbroken lineage of Jathedars who have led the Taksal throughout Sikh history. It recites the Mool Mantar until Nanak hosi bhi such. Who are we to change this?

In Gurdas ji Vaar 39(Please read it) , Bhai Sahib gives an explanation of the complete Mool Mantar, confirming once again that it ends with Nanak hosi bhi such :

The Chakra of Baba Deep Singh :-On the Chakra of Baba Deep Singh, Mool Mantar is written until Nanak hosi bhi such. This Chakra is now housed in Sri Akal Thakt Sahib in Amritsar.

The Kamarkasa of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji:-The kamarkasa of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in Moti Bagh, Patiala, is engraved with the Mool Mantar until Nanak hosi bhi such.

The Entrance of Sri Harmandir Sahib: At the very entrance of the Harmandir Sahib, Mool Mantar is engraved in gold at the top of the door. Over there too it is written until Nanak hosi bhi such.

ANND TALKING about JATAK. SGGSJI gurbani never confirmed about this and there is not even a WOrd called jatak in Gurbani and looking at Kabir ji's Bani In SGGSji, THen you'll Unserstand between Haram and Halal(Donot Tell me that It applies to Only Islam or Muslims). Gurbaani applies to Everyone.

beej manthra sarab ko giaan ||

The Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra, is spiritual wisdom for everyone.

ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਜਪੈ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

chahu varanaa mehi japai kooo naam ||

Anyone, from any class, may chant the Naam.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

jo jo japai this kee gath hoe ||

Whoever chants it, is emancipated.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

saadhhasang paavai jan koe ||

And yet, rare are those who attain it, in the Company of the Holy.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

kar kirapaa anthar our dhhaarai ||

By His Grace, He enshrines it within.

ਪਸੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਮੁਘਦ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੈ ॥

pas praeth mughadh paathhar ko thaarai ||

Even beasts, ghosts and the stone-hearted are saved.

ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਅਉਖਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

sarab rog kaa aoukhadh naam ||

The Naam is the panacea, the remedy to cure all ills.

ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮ ॥

kaliaan roop mangal gun gaam ||

Singing the Glory of God is the embodiment of bliss and emancipation.

ਕਾਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਧਰਮਿ ॥

kaahoo jugath kithai n paaeeai dhharam ||

It cannot be obtained by any religious rituals.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ॥੫॥

naanak this milai jis likhiaa dhhur karam ||5||

O Nanak, he alone obtains it, whose karma is so pre-ordained. ||5||

The AKJ teach people to recite up to 'Gurparsad'. However, every puratan Samparda teaches to recite up to 'Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach'. Viyakaran has nothing to do with it.

Why such a big issue over reciting a few extra lines that are praise of Waheguru and also make us remember our first Guru?

This is a good topic. In my humble opinion and from what I have read in the books of Gursikhs, there is only one mantra and that is Gurmantra. True, all Gurbani is Mantr-roop and you can japp any shabad and get rewarded but still Gurmantra is the hukam of Gurbani. Mool Mantr, Beej Mantra, Gurmantr, Mala Mantr etc are all referred to Naam-Gurmantr. What they call Mool Mantr is in reality Manglacharan.

Beej Mantr Sarb ko Gyaan||

Chahu Varna me japai koyoo Naam||

These two pankitis mean that Naam or Beej Mantra roopi Gyaan is for everyone. It does not matter whether one is Brahman, Kshatri, Vaish or Shudra. This is for everyone.

The second pankiti makes it clear that Beej Mantr is referred to as Naam i.e. Gurmantr.

This whole pauri describes the greatness of Naam. The later pankitis of this pauri are the famous pankitis about Naam:

Sarb Rog ka Aukhad Naam||

Kaliyan roop Mangal gunn Gaam||

Naam is the medicine of all diseases. Naam is Kaliyan-roop i.e. is provider of Kaliyan (wellness) and Gurbani (Gunn gaam) is Mangal-roop (happiness).

I am aware that some Mahapurakhs have promoted the jaap of Ik Oankaar as Beej Mantr. I don't question them. They did what they experienced. What I wrote here (first two pankitis) is based on Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee's translation of this pankiti in his book Gurmat Gauravta. Bhai Sahib believed in only one Mantra and that is Gurmantr and he believed that whole of Gurbani is Mantr roop i.e. even if you don't understand baani, it will still cast spiritual effect on you.

Yeah, those evil people - trying to get us to read more Gurbani, what are they thinking?

The proof is in the eating - there is no better proof than personal experience. Try doing a Jaap of Mool Mantar, if you're strong enough, and then come back and say whether or not it is a system "devised by wily people".

how the story goes is that guru naanak dev ji went into the water 4 3days and then came out of the water and braught from dargah 2 things. 1=naam 2=amrit (charal pahul --> later rachaaed into khande ki pahul due to the eternality of SGGS.) then from what guru naanak dev ji saw (god), they were so amazed that they couldnt describe what was seen.. i.e. the akath katha of god. then, somone asked guruji what they saw, then the moolmantar came out from gurunaanak dev ji.. then the question was asked to guruji, what shal we do with this info/mantar. guru ji replied, jup.....hosi bhi such..

this is y we do it to naanak hosi bhi such. the mool of god is described up to gurprasaad. for us, i.e. what to do with this, is up to naanak hosi bhi such.. the number '1' is put at the end of this till bhi such, making this a 'bundh'. so we (or shud i say that i believe that we) shud do up until hosi bhi such however, the mool roop of god is up till gurprasaad. i.e. nirgun saroop - even gurprasaad is hard to explain!!! just achut katha is the only way to describe it. and the maha roop aka maha mantar is up till hosi bhi such i.e. maha becuse god is everywhere --> sargun. >>the nirgun sargun naatak<< this is y we do it all the way to bhi such....
