Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

lol at khalsa4ever

reight is important down to the last thing

if u didnt know, its a different story

but now u know kacherra is suposed to be white

and u can ask nihangs, taksal, akj,, nanaksar, the older memebers of all these jathas and theyll tell u kacherra shud be white

white repersents purity

and guru je told us to keep that color down there so we wud remeber purity

thats just one reason

there are more

but we shudnt need reasons

ask any jatha leaders

theyll say kacherra shud be white

its actually us westerners that are getting this new modarnized version of sikhi were little things dont matter

everything matters in reight

theres a reson guru je gave us rav style kacherras, white

guru je just didnt pick white for fun

just ask any jatha leaders

kacherra shud be white

if they say no, please inform me

bhula chuka maf

Bro, you have made good points. But not clear enough. Not all say you have to, i know many gursikhs, from abroad and here, that say you dont 'have to' wear white, but should wear it cuz its a sign of purity and to REMIND you. But if you choose to wear blue, black, whatever colour, and it doesnt upset your thoughts, and distract you from simran, then go ahead.

bhul chuk maph.

if you wore a blue kashera, a nihang would beat you up.

White is the only color appropriate for a kashera, there are many historical and rehat reasons for this, whether you choose to accept it or not, is your thing.

If you think any color is acceptable, how about a bright RED kashera, tell me thats not inviting kaam?

Agreed!

In addition, there is one other factor that must be considered... the "historical" factor. Why are Katcheras white? Because no one at that time wore blue, green, red katcheras. No reason for it. People just did.

Now, back then, people never used microphones or speakers. So does that mean that Gurujee never would accept us using these now? Of course not! How about the internet or computers? I mean Guru Sahib must be appauled that we are reading his Gurbani on a liquid crystal display instead of paper! Right? And don't even get me started on our use of harmoniums in keertan (I mean those were introduced by the BRITISH on purpose to convert our keertan into english style music)...

These are just examples. The point is that NOW we are saying that white is purity (but we don't wear WHITE paghs all the time or dumalla, or kaprai) so how can we apply this kind of double standard? There are some out there who strongly believe that their clothes MUST be blue and orange. But I wear a black pagh!

With pseudo-white Kakhis! and a red shirt! and a light grey katchera!

Bottom line? The clothes don't make the person (especially the color).

I dont understand why you people are debating this! The colour is WHITE, and WHITE ONLY! I have asked someone who partakes in Panj Pyaareh seva and basically I was told that WHITE is the colour that you are supposed to wear, this whole notion of other colours is just a cultural perspective etc....WHY can't you just accept WHITE as the colour?

IS IT REALLY A BIG DEAL TO THOSE ARGUING FOR OTHER COLOURS?? WHY DON'T YOU GO AND ASK THE PANJ PYAAREH IF YOU HAVE SUCH DOUBTS? THERES NO POINT IN GOING OVER AND OVER IT AGAIN!!! no.gif

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
