Issues - how sikhs can solve em..

We had Hitman 2 showing turban wearing characters as terrorists, we had black comedian point toward sikh old man as Osama, we have gurdwara members using drug related products and we have Biased/brainwashed BC journalist who call every turban wearing sikh "terrorist" and we have many other internal panthic issues.

Everyone in this forum wants to get rid of all related problems and we do have favorable results of solving the problems easily, but the problem never ends coming in... What's the fault?? Why our community face more problems than other communities ??

we spend hours and hours in talking about these type of issues and how can we prevent them in future.. But sadly these problems will continue to rise unless we set long term goals. As my recent trip to india, i met one member of this forum and he is the person who want to do something for sikh community, so we both had something in common ! anyway, we talked for hours and then at end we came up with solution "Forget about old generation people, pay less attention to what they do." If we want to have strong future then we should target Young sikh ppls and teach them the proper sikhi... and im glad that they singh i met in India is already doing amazing things for the youths. So we need to set long term goals and stick with it. Start paying attention to the 5 or 10 yrs yrs kids and teach them sikhi to the extent level cauz they are gonna be the one who gonna carry the torch and we all can peacefuly retire and have no fear of walking down the streets of New york

Such people will always be there in the world, and this doesn't end any time soon. We have to bring about awareness as much as we can, wherever we can, whenever we can.

Probably Muslims face more problems, but then again they are united and more in number, so it doesn't look like they face that much. Other reason is we are very progressive and productive community, and those who are not will always have a problem with us. Not to forget our glorious history, religion and basic beliefs.

That is very true!!! We hold a gurmat training institute, every friday for an hour or so, and the difference of age that shows up is amazing, you got kids as young as 9 years old, to parents over 40, and they all sit with such interest..

To add to this, we show movies of our history, how our guru sahibans sacrificed everything they had, show the warrior spirt, the martial art, and the entire magnificent Khalsa legacy. They are so astonished, and keep coming back for more, once the base is strong from them, they will keep it within them the rest of their lives..

We need to target the young generation from 8 to 20 year olds. And show them everything that we've preserved of our history, background, and virsa.

Lets start discussion groups as Youth. For example UK South East Sikhs meet once a month, discuss each other's issues (this can be anything at all). This will spread awareness at a larger scale and improve contacts.

As a group we can start to resolve issues, put our voice forward to the issues Sikhs face. The older generation are not involved in resovling instead they want to create more divides.

To start lets have "constructive discussions" which lead somewhere. Even if this begins with a handful of Sikhs its a start.

We just need to start talking to each other and Waheguru will give the direction!
