ਆਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ 'ਚ ਇਹ ਧਾਰਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ "ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ" ਨੂੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਰਟਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਦਿਨ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੱਹਤਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸਿਮਰਨ "ਸਮਰਣ", ਸਿਮ੍ਰਤੀ 'ਚ ਟਿਕਾਅ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਤੀ 'ਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਭੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ। ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਰੱਬੀ ਗੁਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਟਣਾ। ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਮਝਣ, ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ।

ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ 'ਚ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਜੱਥੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਜਿਥੇ ਵੀ "ਨਾਮ" "ਪਰਮੇਸਰ" "ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ" ਆਵੇ, ਉਥੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਰਟਨ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ। ਇਹ ਸਿਲਸਿਲਾ ਕਿੰਨਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ 'ਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਾਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੁੱਝ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਟਾਲ ਵੀ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਰਣਧੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਅਤਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਸਤੂਆਣੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਵੇਚੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਰਣਧੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੋਸਟਰ ਵੀ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨੀ ਜੱਥੇ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ 'ਚ ਕੋਈ ਘੱਟ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ ਨੇ।

ਇਸੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ 'ਚ ਹਰ ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਪੈਸ਼ਲ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ 'ਚ ਬੱਤੀਆਂ ਬੁੱਝਾ ਕੇ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਬੱਧੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਭਲਿਓ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਤਾਂ ਕਰੋ। ਇਹ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਇਸੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੈ ਇਥੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹਰ ਉਹ ਭੇਖੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦਾ ਬੇੜਾ ਗਰਕ ਕਰਨ 'ਚ ਕੋਈ ਕਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਢੱਡਰੀ ਵਾਲਾ, ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ ਰੰਧਾਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਹੋਰ।

ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਵੇਚੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ, ਅਤੇ ਅਖੰਡ ਕੀਰਤਨੀ ਜੱਥੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਈ ਰਣਧੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀਆਂ। ਉਹ ਭਲਿਓ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿਓ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾ ਬਣਾਓ।

We have an organisation like Khalsa Aid who are doing amazing seva partnering with them to teach sikh children about Sikhi. While the thought is amazing, to teach kids from their early days about Sikhi, I feel the wrong organisation is involved. These guys have our new saplings in their hands.
