They lose their faith, they have no understanding; night and day, they suffer in pain.

I'm not sure but the first thing that popped into my mind was following a person instead of Akaal Purakh Waheguru Timeless Truth.

For example following a cheap baba who has no other goal instead of joining you with him instead of Waheguru/God/Allah/Ram/Rahim or maybe as simple as being so engrossed in maya and friends you have forgotten God.

I'm not sure, this is just what came to mind, probably not right.

from my little understanding, Guru Ji is describing the blind, self-willed manmukhs. He's saying they choose poison over Amrit, for example, we have a choice in our actions. We can either choose to read Gurbani(Amrit) or do nindiya(poison).

I'm sure i've just done a literal translation of the Gurbani and there will be many others who can explain the Tuk further and give a deeper understanding.

My interpretation is that the 'Ambrosial Nectar' is the path towards Waheguru, whilst the 'poison' is the opposite of the aforementioned ambrosial path, and leads us down un-Godly avenues which are contrary to His teachings.

I'm most likely very wrong. :s

Thanks guys. I took a hukamnama because I was thinking of having a drink (I havent drank for like 2 months now) and that was the first verse that came up. Kind of freaked me out so I was curious what that word meant, and wanted to verify that the word poison made sense in the translation.

Needless to say I did not have that drink. :-)
