I am a stupid sikh . I call myself stupid because i am trying to be nice .

How do i deal with an amritdhari seventy five year old <banned word filter activated> who has 2 sons 12 years elder to and has 3 grandsons .

This guy is my bloody landlord and he is trying to cheat me and a few others .

This guy has been lying to us about electricity bills and has totally lost his credibility .He has now made me sign an agreement . I signed out of simple trust.

Whom do guys like me believe , now that even amritdharies have started this conning business . This has broken my trust in guru's bani . This <banned word filter activated> goes to the gurudwara everyday .

When amritdharies start doing this , what can be expected of the rest of the diseased lot .

I dont believe in the bana and the bani cos , the world is no longer a fair playing ground for those are trying to be good and believe in fairness .

This religious fanaticism is just

Sorry for the trouble you are going thru and it is very unfair to you and your family. Your landlord has no business ethics far away from khalsa code of conduct. However, you cannot judge sikh dharam or khalsa just by one or few examples you experienced yourself. This is kalyug and our guru sahib jee warned us that this world is full of dhokhay baaj (scams). If you have one gora serial killer in your town that doesn't mean all goray around you are killers. So, there are bad apples everywhere and sadly you experienced one. We shouldn't be weak when God gives us dukh. Keep in mind waheguru jee gives us sukh too.. Don't rely on others but try to find more about your dharam by start doing research on your own.

Being Amritdhari alone is not the be all end all...being amritdhari is about living the life and rehat set out by Guru Gobind Singh ji

Fact is we shouldnt even be looking up to people for inspiration and nor should you let it put u off! Your Guru is the only perfect one, and you should look upto vaheguru only!

So long as you do the right thing....dont let others' bad actions put u off or turn u away...Sikhi is beautiful...read baani and it will give you contentment and you will realise that peoples actions in kalyug arent for us to be influenced buy, but an inspiration to fight for the truth and the right cause!

Many people read bani but they dont apply it

Its depressing to see such people .

I live alone on his property . There are other individuals too : college students and working guys . As far as i am concerned , I have really had a hard time haggling with this guy and seeing through his ulterior motives and i no longer want to waste my time since it affects my studies .

What appalls me is that this amritdharies dont consider others . They are only concerned about themselves and they have no qualmas against reaping profits at someones expense

This guy has a common electricity which runs at the speed of light . He tells me that this meter only corresponds only to the electricity that i consume . He tells others that "their meters are seperate but my meter is combined with their house meter . I have observed that he is trying to make me pay for his electricity consumption as well . He has this bad habit of forgetting his commitments and not keeping his word . Isnt it natural of me to suspect his motives . If i express my concerns , i turn out to be the bad guy and I am being made to feel guilty of being lousy and a suspecting character . Is it really my fault ?

Thanks for the Kind words , Sadh Sangat Jee . I have now started believing that goodness no longer thrives among people . Its as if the only entity that i can trust is the Guru , bt i cant see him so literally speaking good people are in deep <banned word filter activated> , floating about on a tiny raft in the big ocean in the face of the sharks and the whales

Firstly,

(SGGS jeeo - Ang 269)

He says one thing, and does something else. There is no love in his heart, and yet with his mouth he talks tall. The Omniscient Lord God is the Knower of all. He is not impressed by outward display. One who does not practice what he preaches to others, shall come and go in reincarnation, through birth and death.

Secondly,

Why continue to as a tenant ?

Find your self another place as soon as possible.

It is not advisable to stay amongst dishonest people.

Take this incident as a lesson that is how people learn "through experience".

And Move on

Thirdly,

Why blame Gurbani, every person is judged by his/her actions.

Those who deceive will pay, sooner or later.

Lastly,

Try to recall the last time you lied, cheated or stole money coz

What has happened is due to your own Past Karma.

(SGGS jeeo - Ang 433)

Dadda: Do not blame anyone else; blame instead your own actions. Whatever I did, for that I have suffered; I do not blame anyone else. ||21||

So please cool down.

Your situation is not unique. I know a few people who get ripped off by the landlords. I am a landlord myself and everything I do is above board but you do get others who want to squeeze every last penny out of their tenants. There are also tenants who treat the landlord's house like a pigsty.

Your best bet would be to start looking for another place to live. Avoid a place where the landlord lives in the property and live where all the rooms have tenants and then you pay only a share of the electricity and gas. If he is a crook he is unlikely to change so the less sangat of his you keep the better!

Most Amritdharis I know have this uncalled and absolutely irrational superiority complex , and people think its good !

Most Amritdharis think of themselves as the "chosen people" .... pathetic ! but again I don't treat them any different than normal people ! cursorstab.gif

    • lol dal panth Panj told me explicitly not to associate with Vadhbhag Singh Sodhi followers!
    • We have lamp (or Jyot) the pure unscented candle for a reason. Traditionally, Patis used candle light (jyot), so they could read SGGS in darkness. Light, elec didn't exist. Dhoop is used to attract the "Good spirits" but also keep freshness where Maharaj will be.  Interestingly and coincidentally I heard Sakhi a few dsys ago. During Dasa Pitha's time these souls were roaming the Earth and even Sangat noticed. Maharaj asked them "y u here?" They replied during recitation of SGGS and making Degh they didn't bother lighting candle. THAT WAS THEE ONLY REASON NO GATI WAS GIVEN TO THEM!!!  AUTHENTICITY NOT CHECKED I heard once on YT like 2 days ago.  If u apply dhoop in one room of your house twice a week u will notice a difference esp in the smell and freshness of that room.
    • Sangat ji, With the hot weather as per Guru's Hukm, how can we look after our kes?  First of all the beard! Working in Construction, factory and any other heated environment I UNDERSTAND! At my workplace it's over 32 degree celcius and sometimes we have to lift 20kg ALL! DAY! My tips, regularly shampoo the beard during ishnan. APPLY OIL! The technique of applying oil is by rubbing it thoroughly in the roots. Pay attention to the noise esp on the chin. You will hear this "crosh crosh" noise. Keep rubbing oil until u can't hear it no more! This means the oil has blended in properly.  Second tip on beard, keep an extra kanga in your pocket. Every two, three hours give your beard a proper comb down to get rid of any sweat or stickiness. SECOND BENEFIT! Do this all 12 months every single day your beard will look like it's been professionally groomed. TRY IT! People will ask you "What gel u use? How can yer beard be naturally like that?" You can say all I use is coconut oil or whaeva oil but just comb the beard every 2-3 hours for a minute.  As for the kes, morning time get rid of all the gronjra (or knots - forgotten English word), in the morning. However, during evening comb down make sure you get rid of small remaining gronjra and comb yer hair nice and straight. You will feel soooo so relaxed. Yes our hair will go unnoticed due to Dastar, but our hair demands time and self grooming! So proper combing down, spending a good 15-20 mins most evenings is an absolute MUST!  Most evenings I let my hair down and cover hair with my parna for 2-3 hours so it gets to relax from the tying up.  FINAL TIP! We are Sikhs so we keep fighting and remember this! The tradition of Dastar and uncut hair started in India, where the weather is twice as hot. Everytime we bring this thought in the mind, Guru ji will bless us and make us feel cooled down by a notch.  Fateh.
    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
