This is an outrage - if it can happen in T.O - it can happen ANYWHERE. Canada's known as one of the most peaceful countries around. There are so many predictions of how life is gonna get harder for Gursikhs in Canada - and people keep saying "no way, it's CANADA, Canada could never ever persecute their own citizens" but it's already happening.

Jasdev Singh or any other bros please update us on what action you guys are gonna take. IF YOU NEED ANY HELP, CONTACT THE SANGAT !!! That's what we're all here for.. We're behind u guys all the way - one Panth, one Family, fighting together in everything.

this incident took place about a month ago. and as far as i know its being taken care of. i believe one of the singhs talked to a lawyer or something. but the thing we all have to understand is, they told us then and still say it (im sure) that they are allowed to take our kirpans off. if they are arresting someone for assault or any reason, they will take anything that looks like a weapon off them. especially if they are gonna be put in a police car. and the thing was there was an assault in a park right down the road and they thought the singhs were the suspects. i guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Sat Sri Akal:

According to the description given by the Singh Sahib, there were two main points that I hope were addressed if it has already been taken care of. First, no police officer should be playing around with a Kirpan, or an other artifact/weapon/Kirpan/etc. in a taunting manner in front of anyone. This is unprofessional behavior and can certainly earn some time off. The other thing is the pretext of the arrest. Why were they arrested? The outline states that they were arrested, and then let go because they were not the people being sought...the people being looked for were not even wearing turbans, quite an obvious and visible physical marker. So this could certainly be investigated under unlawful arrest, as there was no reason whatsoever to even pull the Sikhs over.

Hopefully, proper punishment was dealt for this incident if it has already been dealt with.

Pyare jio, the only way to stop this is to make an example of the police officers involved. Hence the matter should not be dropped. People always jump on the bandwagon and say sue. But the reality is you have to look at the legalities the case. Only the individual and his lawyer can examine this.

However the sikh community in Toronto should come together and organise a peaceful protest outside the police station, in respect to the incident. This should be done in a Gurmat manner, no shouting or slogans, but a peaceful sitdown protest of hundreds.

Banners such as "Sikhs are Not terrorists!" should be used. This will show the community will not tolerate being treated as terrorists. The behaviour of the protest should reflect your message that sikhs are a peace-loving community with high morals.

Secondly, as in done in Slough Uk. The youth should begin dialogue with the police. In slough, we have a specific presentation approved by the Metropolitan Police. This is mandatory for all new police recruits covering slough. The presentation is about ethnic awareness of Sikhs. It is always done by practicing Sikhs and is shown on a Powerpoint format. Create a constructive partnership dialogue like this with the police and other public service agencies to ensure these one-off incidents do not happen again.

Anyone who wishes to know more about the ethnic awareness presentations can contact myself or contact SCAN (Sikh Community Action Network) in slough.

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
