Im sure they did not want to sing anything else after either :D

Waheguru.

I agree, once a person is hit by Gurbani arrow, nothing else taste as good. All you want is this raas and everything else is just dust.

As Gurbani says everyone is hungry for that one thing, but only a few realize it.

whats all this taliban stuff..

Satguru's rehat is taliban by nature. There is no deep undestanding behind it, just commands that oppress a whole religion from doing what their mind feels like. :biggrin2: The objective of the rehat is to beat down and subdue the people of the world, hence Satguru said in his first form that Khalsa will rule. Bhai Daya Singh ji made to spread this taliban rehat, but his heart really want to dance and sing to the beat of the mind. However Satguru rehat being taliban even Bhai Daya Singh ji was made to follow it and then to administer it to others. Satguru promised Bhai Daya Singh ji if he administers this taliban rehat then he will get a seat in Sachkand and will recieve whatever his mind wants. Next came Baba Deep Singh ji, who was adminstered just to teach Gurbani to others, where nothing else could be done at the school. The instructions were given to make these Singhs into fighting machines and tell them to eat little and go to sleep by 8pm. The most horrible torture of it all was getting up at 1 am, where the Singhs could not go out to have a night life. They were made to take cold showers and made to read this big long book that made no sense. It was full of Taliban stuff. Baba Deep Singh went to the extent of using magic powers to drive fear into the world that he can fight without his head off and he will come into your room at night and stand there if you given the title of Gurmukh. Such was his scare tactics. Next came Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji who used the same scare tactics.

But today the real Sikhs are taking over and they are becoming more and more successful on implanting the real Guru on the Takht. This Guru was struggling for many years to come out because oppressive Gurbani and rehat was controlling the people. But today the real Sikhs have found out that this rehat and Gurbani (taliban stuff) is false, but we can use it against those Sikhs that still hold it in high regards. The real Sikhs have got a biologist and a famous artist to contruct a huge diagram of the human mind and the real Sikhs will be placing this on the Takht and then bowing before it. All plans have been put in place and the movement has gone stronger. Anyone that steps in their way will be labelled as Taliban stuff and the Brain Guru's army (US and RSS) will take them out.

Saṯgurū binā hor kacẖī hai baṇī.

Without the True Guru, other songs are false.

Baṇī ṯa kacẖī saṯgurū bājẖahu hor kacẖī baṇī.

The songs are false without the True Guru; all other songs are false.

Kahḏe kacẖe suṇḏe kacẖe kacẖīʼn ākẖ vakẖāṇī.

The speakers are false, and the listeners are false; those who speak and recite are false.

Har har niṯ karahi rasnā kahi▫ā kacẖẖū na jāṇī.

They may continually chant, 'Har, Har' with their tongues, but they do not know what they are saying.

Cẖiṯ jin kā hir la▫i▫ā mā▫i▫ā bolan pa▫e ravāṇī.

Their consciousness is lured by Maya; they are just reciting mechanically.

Kahai Nānak saṯgurū bājẖahu hor kacẖī baṇī. ||24||

Says Nanak, without the True Guru, other songs are false. ||24||

You have misinterpreted.

Guru sahib is saying that those who sing hymns without having God in their heart are wasting their time.

So even if you sang a song in praise of God, it would be false if it doesn't come from your heart.

The key line that you have quoted is this: The consciousness is lured by Maya; they are just reciting mechanically.

I do wonder if that special something that will fill the void in people's souls is this connection to God, but we (and the rest of the world) simply cannot identify what it is that is making us feel so empty.

Some people buy masses of clothes to make them happy in order to get that buzz. When the buzz dies down they feel alone and empty once more. Others buy cars, expensive technology for the same reason. Some get married over and over in the hope the next one will be "the one"; others just keep looking for that special someone in the hope he/she can fill that void.

I wonder if these people are all looking for that indescribable "thing" but just don't know how to identify it, and sadly they keep falling into the trap of thinking worldly pleasures and goods can provide that comfort.

Erm....sorry went a bit dounga in a thread about a singing contest!

I think there is much confusion between love and kaam.

There is nothing wrong in singing love songs.

There is love poetry in our Guru Granth Sahib.

We should refrain from singing dirty lyrics. I would provide an example, but it is not appropriate.

Before eating a meal there is one Shabad we recite. Can you tell me the second last tuk of that Shabad?

The last line of the pauri says without the True Guru other Bani is false. The first line of the pauri says without Satguru, Bani is false (kachi Bani). The line you are refering to, goes with the line above it................so in context:

Then Satguru says this:

ਚਿਤੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਾ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਪਏ ਰਵਾਣੀ

Satguru is saying those who repeat God's name in their own way is trapped in maya (like the famous Satraj Satinder).

Before intrepreting Gurbani, start with the first tuk and then work your way toward the end of the pauri. Otherwise Gurbani can be easily misintrepreted to suit ones mind.

Also read pauri 23. What is Sachi Bani? Satguru says those who are blessed have planted this Bani in their hearts. But before this Satguru says, come beloved Sikhs and sing Sachi Bani. Satguru establishes that Bani that is sachi (true) is only the Bani of Satguru.
