A lot of the comments aren't just opposing the memorial but they are derogatory towards Sikhi.

I reported a few of them but its disgusting to see such comments on a well known newspaper such as the Times of India.

It's a Hindutva newspaper Bhenji, most probably it's own staff/editorial team will be posting all such comments, you can try, yours/mine comments will never get posted over there.

We need to push the agenda forward to what is a practical meaningful "Memorial" in memory of our Shaheeds.

If we increase literacy and decrease female infanticide and drugs useage in Punjab (as the 2013 Ghallugharay for males and females respectively) then our enemies will truly be fearful. The only reason a minority hate us is because they fear the revolutionary capability of Sikhi to bring justice to all humanity. At the moment they they think that we've spent x-amount of funds constructing a physical structure which mentions the names of certain Shahheds that Hindutva terrorism wrongly besmirches.

However, we need to remember that our Shaheeds didn't really want their names mentioned but wanted Sarbat dha Bhalla and Sikhi di Chardi Kallah. And only an increase in schools, hospitals, drug rehabilitation centres and wiping out the curse of female infanticide would be a fitting respectful yaadgaar for our Shaheeds. Increased education and 100% literacy within the Panth will automatically ensure we never forget the several Ghallugharay we have been made to suffer by the Mughals+Congress as well as the present ones that we are suffering from.

ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਸਹਿਯੋਗੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਸੀ। ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਬਲਿਊ ਸਟਾਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ 'ਚ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਰਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ 400 ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਇਮਾਰਤ 'ਤੇ ਸੰਗਮਰਮਰ 'ਤੇ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਢਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਹਰਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਧੁੰਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ 'ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ 'ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ, ਜੂਨ 1984 ਦੀ ਦੁਖਦ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਦੇ 14ਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ।'
ਜਿਥੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਾਦਲ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗੈਰ-ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ, ਉਥੇ ਮੱਕੜ ਜੋ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਦਾ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਨੇ ਇਸ 'ਤੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਉਠਾਉਣਗੇ। ਜਦੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਐੱਸ.ਜੀ.ਪੀ.ਸੀ. ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ 'ਕਿਥੇ ਹੈ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ?' ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੱਗੀ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ 'ਤੇ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਪਲੱਬਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਧੁੰਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੰਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਵਾਈ ਹੈ।

You can have memorial and do social activities as well, no need to have one or the other. The Shaheeds sacrafices should be remembered as the Darbar Sahib has many memorials to those that have defended fought for the Sikh cause in the past. The Yaadghar now formally establishes India's guilt alongside the Mughals and Afghans for all time, that's what they dislike.

It is a befitting remembrance to sacrifices made by martyrs when army attacked Harmandir sahib.

Memorial was a must to so that coming generations take inspiration. Obviously when memorial is built

names of those who sacrificed their lives should also be mentioned.

I commend Damdami taksal for standing upto machinations of those who wanted to remove the plaque.

Sangat who were present also came in support of Damdami taksal and it is said task force fled the scene.

ਬੀਤੀ ਰਾਤ ਇਸ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਉਣ ਲਈ ਲਾਏ ਗਏ ਬੋਰਡ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਟਾਏ ਜਾਣ 'ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਗਲਤਫ਼ਹਿਮੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਬੈਠਕਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰਥਕ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣਗੇ।
ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਗੁਰਬਚਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਗ੍ਰੰਥੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਵੀ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਠਾ ਕੇ ਹੱਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਯਾਦਗਾਰੀ ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬੁੱਕ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸਮੁੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰਨਾ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਠਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਖੁਦ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਲਵੇਗੀ।
