I blame their mothers , who are first in the queue for fashion etc, some of the outfits unmarried sikh girls wear to weddings are shocking bare back down to waist etc and there mothers allow it!!, the poor father don't get a say, i blame the mothers 100%, same as young boys who have kesh cut, its because the mothers are to lazy to comb their hair so get it cut!!

very true. The vulgarity that has entered into our culture is truly shocking. Just go to any marriage function and see how girls today dress. The front and back are getting increasingly bare, cloths are getting tighter and no one thinks anything of this open sexualization of our womenfolk. Sharam is a distant concept in our culture now. The Kanjar culture that is glorified in bollywood movies and Punjabi songs is thought of as being modern and cool. Sadly people who say anything are attacked as being old fashioned and people who support this vulgarity think they are modern.

The thing is the solutions you guys are looking at are dense, narrow minded and short sighted. They're temporary fixes and will most likely create a gridlock and further alienation in the community. Sikhs aren't fundamentalist religious extremists, we go about solving issues like this by spreading Sach and educating about the effects of giving into crap like fashionvaad and dressing like male whores and female whores.

Long term plan to fix this would be to create networking, youth groups, invest in mass media abroad and in Punjab that is pro Sikhi and panthic at its core and is able to appeal to the masses (Sikh and non-Sikh).

Educate about what though? Sikhism these days to these ignorant people is irrelevant its seen as a hair gang singing out dated songs with out dated instruments with a granthi who does not convey the message of the guru in their own language. There is no relevance to these girls in their lifestyles/////people preaching to them these days to keep their hair..... they will look at you thinking 'i dont want a tash on my face bruv' which is fair enough so is that what Sikhi all about? It's like either you accept you do not cut hair or your not part of our little hair dastaar gang. So in the end they become excluded and fall into other lifestyles and easy prey for non-sikhs for exploitation.

And as for young guys its the same issue they dont want to keep uncut hair due to many social pressures of western society especially with being uncool and being bullied....so fair enough .....but why isnt their any programs to ensure these brothers are empowered to take active role in Sikh community instead of closing our eyes and catering resources on keshdari's who are already with sikhi but are few in number compared to the sahejdhari moneh sikh population.

I agree, most of these "bigarde hoye" kids have "bigarde hoye" parents who are too much into fashion and society. Cultured parents most of the time raise cultured children. However I also know of some families who are very religious but their children are far from it. It all falls into how children are raised and taught about our religion by their parents. If parents encourage kids to attend religious classes at the Gurdwara, they will. If children have role models to look up to then they will follow. But if they have no one to look up to then its hard for them to be interested in Sikhi.

UK = Paji that's simply not gana work in the West. Like Singh559 Paji education is the key. Empowering females through knowledge of figures such as Mai Bhago can create a positive connection with Sikhi from an early age that's proves unbreakable. Most non-Muslim females are not aware that Quran gives men the permission to beat their wives, to freely indulge in sex with slave girls (in today's day and age that translates as kaffor non-Muslim women) and that Prophet Muhammad was given special dispensation from Allah to have 13 wives whereas the rest of us mere mortals can only have four. Once women are aware of such a primitive anti-female philosophy they theoretically ought to fall prey to it less often.

UK = I 100% agree with u Singh559 Paji. Additionally, we need to loosen the reigns as a community on who our Sons can marry. This whole concept anout not marrying Muslim women only refers to those who actively believe in Slavery and the rest of Prophet Muhammad's beliefs. As for those women of Muslim parentage who wish to come to Sikhi we should make it more widely known that Bhai Mardana Ji was the first Sikh in history and that Sikhi is the only faith which is explicit about complete male/female equality. We should support couples where a female of Muslim parentage wants to marry a Sikh partner rather than lecturing the guy that Sikhs shouldn't do that when the female is willing to marry in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj

UKLondonSikh, completely agree with you brother. We need a culture where our sons our brothers our male folk are encouraged to target, date and convert muslim females into the Sikh faith. Muslims number 1.2 billion in the world with 30+ nations with their governments and populations. They have enough demographics to sustain their women taken away for conversions us Sikhs and other religious minorities do not have that luxary which brainless punjabi females and their parents do not undestand but the islamic scholars and zealots who want to destroy other religion understand very well.

So every non-muslim male specially hindus and Sikhs must be encouraged target spefically pakistani, kashmiri, afghani, bengali, indian muslim womens for converesions. When Guru Gobhind Singh Ji maharajh forbid the Khalsa from taking muslim women in war time it was under the condition and understanding that the rival muslim opposition did not do the same but if the treaties no longer exist and muslim males are encouraged to target non-muslim females for dawah and conversion then whats stopping Sikh men?

We really need to start waking up to whats going on around us because there is a slient sleathy war being wagged against our community not only by islamics but also by the atheist western culture and its supporters that wants to destroy all religious communities and the only thing ppl will worship is money, celebs and government. Who would you rather look up to and worship your lord waheguru master of the universe and creation and our great guru's and leaders of the past or some useless politican launching wars on innocent civilians for economic profit or some brainless celeb that talks crap and only promotes being good looking and nothing else.
