Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was exactly the kind of leader Sikhs needed. One just needs to listen to his speeches to realize how politically aware he was about political situation of India and the

The lesson to learn is that your selection of a leader is no small matter. No. It is a gravely important matter that will affect your life; your children's lives; your grandchildren's lives; and poss

Ideally, what the Brits should have done is give back the land to the people they took it from. They took North India from the Sikhs and to the Sikhs they should have given it back. Instead they gave

Unfortunately, Master Tara Singh, has been castigated for the Sikhs ending up in india, but i dont beleilve it was his fault alone. during the partition, he never had a strong hand to play with in the first place. Baldev Singh was the one who made sure we ended up in india.

The great fault of his was that he was more emotional than pragmatic, and in the field of politics that doesnt work too well. He was outclassed by the muslims and sikh leaders politically.

Churchill offered Sikhs their own country. Whoever was in London in the for the negotiations in the 1940s told him that the Sikh nation werent interested. Look what happened.

. He made the mistake of not insuring any safe guards for the Sikh nation just in case Hindu leaders go back on their word(as they later did). .

That was what he did try to work for, but the date of british withdrawal was brought forward by a year whoch completely caught him off guard.

MTS had an agreement in May 1947, that the Sikhs only would decide which state they wanted to be in, but Baldev Singh blew that agreement up in June 1947, in London, whgen he said the Sikhs wish to be part of India.

Sirdar Kapoor Singh Jee writes in Saachi Saakhi that at the time the Brits were willing to offer the Sikhs some sort of arrangement for the safe guard of the Sikh nation. But at the time Sikhs were extremely anti British. They did not trust the Brits for even a little bit. The reply of the Akali leadership was that whatever we want we will get it from the Congress leaders after Independence, whatever you need to say, say to the congress. After the so called independence when the Akalis reminded Nehru of his promise, he replied "circumstances have now changed" because by then the HIndus had everything, and Sikhs had nothing to bargain with. Baldev Singh played a horrible role. He was a business man and most of his business was located in other states of India. So for the sake of his business he made the Sikh nation into Ghulams.

The biggest mistake that the Sikh leadership made was to agree to a accept the Radcliffe award in advance like the Hindu and Muslim leadership had done. Since the Sikhs had the most to lose they should have made sure that the 'other factors' in the terms of reference explicitly meant Gurdwaras and Land ownership. By accepting it in advance, the British did not feel the need to make any concessions to the Sikhs in the Radcliffe award. The so-called neutrality of Radcliife is a lie. Mountbatten's main concern was the British interests would be protected in the future India and Pakistan.

I want to know why a man who fought for Sikh rights and home land is not respected in Sikh community ? Why Sikhs have negative views about Master ji .

Please go through this book and you will know what he did for the panth http://www.scribd.com/doc/36619916/Master-Tara-Singh-Souvenir-1981, its time we should start repecting the man who raised his voice against injustice and discrimination .

I have heard that he was the one to turn down Dr Ambedkar and 50,000 other dailts to take amrit and become sikhs on the orders of Gandhi

I heard some state of heads in Delhi ( under the British rule) sent high ranking sikh army officers to try to talk some sense into Baldev Singh and accept Sikh empire boundries prior to 1848. And the british envisioned three country, India, Pakistan and old sikh empire.

Churchill did say "without sikhs the war might have been lost", and the british were pushing for the three countries.

    • They are all in it together. That's how they make it a culture, hence 'systemic'. The football fan types just articulate what the more clever, devious types up top believe and promote on the sly. The working class guys express their thoughts openly. So whilst a racist manager/director might deviously make an ethnic's life difficult at work through selectively handing him/her the most difficult work, and set them up to fail. The lower end ar5eholes will be the ones who will be implementing this plan and directly creating a toxic environment for the targeted people.  And they routinely turn a blind eye to racism, even if they don't actively participate. Explaining it away as 'banter'.
    • I don't think you have any independent thoughts. You just seem to parrot what a racist white boy would want you to say, to the point of even adopting their lexicon to frame your 'arguments', like you are one of their chumchay spokesmen. I mean this seriously, not trying to offend you. What you're doing is like what Priti Patel does, but on a lower level.  I don't get what you are saying here?

    • I am sure theres many sikh videos of weddings. Look at rainsbai weddings. Or akj weddings.        There is milni. As the girls side of the family is in charge of the venue. They get their earlier and prepare breakfast langar ( cha pakore etc). Then when the groom and his family come over. They meet each other outside the gurudwara in the parking lot. Ideally the girls family should be doing kirtan with vaja dholki of Aye Mil Gurshikh... as they welcome the grooms family. but if noone from the girls family is a musician, the two families can just greet each other with fateh. Then each of the relatives are introduced to their contrapart. The father meet the father in law. They can say fateh and give sarope to each other. Then the mothers, brothers, uncles, aunts. Then the grooms party is invited to eat langar ( i think they do this before matha teking and as they are sangat, they are allowed to eat first...i think) After langar, groom and his family go matha tek. The groom sits in front of the sangat where they do matha tek.  Then bride walks in. Matha teks, sits next to groom. The palla ardaas is done. Then the shabad about Pallai taindai laagee (or is shabad done before?) And then lavaan etc.
