Vaheguru Je Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Je Ke Fateh

I have been wanting to tie a dastaar for a few years now and will one day hopefully soon, but I have noticed that some Sikhs, (particularly men and aunties) see a woman with a dastaar on as ugly? I never really gave this much of a thought, however now it's making me think, how will I find a husband if everyone thinks I am ugly? I know how I sound, and I also don't really know what I am asking, but, do we really look, ugly? Do you really think dastaar on amritdhari women should not be allowed? Why is it that amritdhari men are so against having a spouse that JUST LIKE THEM, has respect for their Guru Ji and loves their crown and is made humble by their crown, and always remembers that they are representing their faith so always do good? What is the problem?

Why do you care what people think, Sikhi is about your relation with Guru.

Turban doesn't guarantee automatic Sainthood no Bhekh does as per Gurbani.

Not all turbaned women are pious just as not all women without turban are not pious.

Most turbaned Bibi's wear turban due to family tradition & compulsion very few do so by choice.

People holding allegiance to Jatha are not secular and stubborn.

They will never accept you as your daughter in law.

Moreso Bibi Bhago ji were a Saint-Soldier but for that she crossed Maryada of an obedient wife n daughter-in-law.

So it's better to learn virtues from Bibi Rajni ji and follow her example of a devoted wife if you want a normal Grehasti Jeevan.

Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I'm a guy, and i don't personally think our crown is ugly in anyway. Here's the thing, even though I've always idealized Gursikhs, what I've seen with women wearing dumallas and keskis is they do it for their family, not their Guru. The Dastar in of itself is beautiful and I encourage both men and women from the Panth to keep Keski. Why some Amritdhari men are against it? I really don't know. I'm not really looking for a mate right now, but simply wearing a Dastar will not just make want you, even if I personally support it 100%, cause you could be a faker for all I know. Sometimes I wonder if your even a Singh? Our Dastar is not some Bhekh, but rather our Hukam from Guru Sahib. Nobody said every woman wearing a turban is pious; however, the rule still stands that a daughter of her father would accept what her father wanted her to do. Won't argue with the family compulsion, (only sensible thing you said). A Jatha is like a sangat you want to hang-out with; even in a normal extended family there are people I'm closer to, and some not so much, it's something like that. What do you mean not accept as daughter-in-law, (explain this a bit better)? There's no Maryada of an obedient wife/obedient daughter-in-law, (if you want one of those you marry one of them Orientals:/, don't know why they are submissive though?) The job of a marriage even a non-sikh one is not to buy a slave, but rather to finally accept a path that both of you will go on a path together. (Also if you don't get the Oriental joke, just ignore it).

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

I have seen enough people (I should not really say this) but they do not have the best of features yet they are married and their husbands treat them and love them better than the highly good looking ladies. Maybe they have golden hearts and a good kismat - both of which are a better advantage over just having good looks.

Most girls do look very nice wearing keski.

Why do Muslim girls not care about their looks when they hang their scarve which sometimes is so rough looking around their faces and then step out ready to face the world with their new look?

Above views are my own whether anyone likes them or not is their choice.

Reasonable people will go to a doctor for medicine not a soldier similarly if you are looking for good, obedient, caring wife go for someone who has virtues of Bibi Rajni ji.

That is twice you indirectly slurred Mata Bhag Kaur ji , are you aching for a slap or something ? She maintained her family and looked after her in-laws whilst her husband was away with Guru Pita ji in Anandpur Sahib besieged for many many months wih her own kirt  , did she abandon her post ?? prove it , Did she not do her duty as a wife by reminding her Husband of his Mission in life , and act as his conscience when he faltered as Guru Teg Bahadur praised Gursikh bibian as ? I am really disappointed in you , you failed as a sikh to recognise this ...she fought at the vanguard not behind others like a sheep , got injured on the battlefield and lost her husband and brothers  but didn't complain once . Maybe you have some kind of fetish for sheep women , which I can assure you Bibi Rajni wasn't she defied her father at every turn and gave him muh thoord jawab , which is not very 'punjabi female' . These two bibian are the two sides of the same coin : Gursikh

According to maryada of Hazoor Sahib & Buddha Dal women were never given Khande Di Pahul. Hazoor Sahib/Buddha Dal has maintained the original maryada since time of 10ve patshah. Sikhi in the area of Hazoor Sahib is much stronger then the whole of Punjab (man made maryada land). Every Sikh in Nanded is mostly kesadhari & shasterdhari. They have Prakash of Sri Dasam Granth & never had a problem where Mahants bought murtis into the Gurdwara like what happened in Panjab but still get accused of being followers of Hindu traditions. Watch this video to get knowledge about why & when women were given amrit & when it all started;

    • First thing, these types of situations aren't anything new to the panth. Second thing, if we don't do different moves to previous ones, how can we expect outcomes to be different? Plus, if he's put his head up above the parapet like that, I'm sure he full well knows where it can go.  I'm sure he's not naive.    They should break out all those people who have been imprisoned for Waheguru knows how long, well after their sentences were completed. Actually that should have been done a long time ago.
    • Hello everyone! Its a been a minute...How you been? Guess i am back because H*ndus are out full force wanting to k*ll Sikhs ..... We are facing turmoil.... Meanwhile on twitter they going insanse with their genocide threats memes etc I dont even know anymore what there is left.....sick and tired facing injustices  Either Amritpal will be k*illed of or an 'accident' like Deep Sidhu  Its insane last 3 years have been like we are in the same ditch cycle  @dallysingh101 @californiasardar1 @Kaurr @MisterrSingh (and rest i can't remember)
    • There is a lot of false media , false allegations , false whereabouts of Bhai Amritpal Singh. A person who has taken a step , to devote is life in helping :- 1. Those who on drugs 2. A lifeline for those Mothers who see there children ,dosed up in Drugs  3. Telling them to take amrit , do meditation , do seva , read gurbani 4. Stand up for your rights 5. Get together as a kaum  6. Speaking up against atrocities carried out on the minorities   He is deemed as a threat to Punjab , for his actions . How low can the Police , MPs, the leadshership in India go . They are very threatened by Bhai Amritpal Singhs mindset , a mindset to free the Sikhs , and unravel the corruption behind Indias politics.  May waheguru keep Bhai Amritpal Singh in chardikala and give him strength to fight against injustices and wake up the Kaum worldwide regardless of ones background.
    • There's bus service called Indo-Canadian operating from Delhi to main cities of Punjab (like Ludhiana). Never tried it but I know people who have and heard it's quite safe and stops along the way at restaurants. From Ludhiana, you can take a local bus to Moga city and book a hotel (don't know much about Punjab hotels as I never stayed in one). You can book online for the bus.  I've travelled to Punjab for a long time, as a local of that area, it's perfectly safe. Just take normal pre-cautions. Local shop food in Punjab is safe to eat if you can handle oil, masala's, etc.  You don't have to worry about being targeted because of being Sabat Soorat. Seen plenty of Sabat Soorat men and Nihangs and no one targets them. Police are not an issue, they don't bother anyone whose trying to get by their life normally. You can keep a few hundred rupees in your pocket just in case you do get into trouble with them in an unlikely incident.  To blend in, Try to dress like a local. Wear a white Kurta-Pajama or simple western clothing  Pretend you're just visiting from another Indian or Punjab city (don't tell people you're from abroad as you can get overcharged for cheap things) Communicate in local Punjabi as much as possible or speak in an Indian accent if you can't. But some NRI's have accents that give it away easily.  Bargain when you're buying things (apart from food places or if the shop specifically says "fixed price"). Bargaining is great and you can bring down the price by half.  Lastly, just enjoy your stay, there's a lot of history to explore in Punjab too apart from the mainstream/popular places like Wagah border, Harmandir Sahib or Chandigarh.
