These dynamics are likely to change with changing demographics.

I don't know personally.

Very hard to say. We are seeing what has happening the UK and extrapolating this to the US/Canada.

You may see some similarities.

The US/Canada is far bigger the UK and the distances are far bigger. The Pakistani communities live quite separate to the Indian communities.

The Indian population is far bigger than the Pakistani population in the North America than compared to the UK.

Majority influence.

Seriously dude, we have to redefine ourselves as a community with more sophisticated stuff. Doing all this has led to these types of caricatures.

They love dancing much more than the UK and they love having a good time.

They are much more into dressing up and LARPing.

Former Labour MP Shahid Malik 's wikipedia page:

MPs' expenses

Malik claimed £185,421 in parliamentary expenses for 2006, the highest amount claimed by any MP.[64] Some £163,000 of this was used for staff and office etc. while the rest some £22,110 was claimed for personal use as part of his 'staying away from main house' allowance (ACA). 183 other MPs claimed exactly the same amount and in 2007/08 he again claimed the maximum personal ACA allowance as did 142 other MPs.

That's EXACTLY the type of places groomers will target. And apnay will be so drunk, or rowing amongst themselves to even clock it until it is too late. Exactly like what happened here.

Were you saying Pakistanis contributed towards popularising bhangra in the UK in 80's and 90's ?

Used to be like that in the 80s/90s. That's exactly what grooming sullay used to say about apneean here in those days.

Might be that we are ahead of canucks by a few decades? I know the demographics aren't the same (between UK and Canada), but seeing as Canada takes in a lot of refugees, and we know what background most of them are from these days - things wont remain the same over there.

What I saw in the past was that certain apnay deluded themselves so much about their perceived greatness, they were blinded to the mass grooming going on under their noses. Many Canadians are very likely to still have these backwards attitudes. We've been rudely woken up in the UK. Also, the rampant liberalism out there may ensure that apneean get offered on a plate out there?

If people anticipate it, they might stop it happening.

Muslim gangs in UK jails beating prisoners until they convert to Islam

7 June 2019

Muslim gangs in UK jails are forcing prisoners to convert to Islam with threats and beatings, according to a new Ministry of Justice report .

“The tactic they use is to befriend someone when they come in. If they don’t convert, they will then start spreading rumours about them, that the person is a snitch (informer), so that they will be ostracised. Then the beatings follow,” said a non-Muslim inmate.

Christian prison pastor Paul Song recently spoke out about Muslim extremists in prisons after he was dismissed from Brixton Prison in London .

Song was kicked out by a Muslim imam who had taken over as head chaplain and disapproved of the pastor’s Christian courses.

“If someone is secular and in prison and they want to lead a peaceful life in prison they need to become Muslim. That way they are protected,” said Song, who was later reinstated.

“Some people have been forced to convert with violence. How do I know? Because three or four people come up to me and tell me,” the pastor added.

The gangs were a well-organised menace with “clearly defined roles including leaders, recruiters, enforcers, followers and foot soldiers”, the 2019 UK government report states .

“Violence, bullying and intimidation were prevalent with the gangs, using religion as an excuse to victimise others,” it adds.

Jailed terrorists were often gang leaders and prisoners who learned passages of the Koran were promoted in the ranks. Money was generated by “taxing” inmates, the report states.

“If I said I didn’t want to be a Muslim, I’d need to watch out just in case someone stabbed me,” said another prisoner.

The report explained that many Muslims became part of a so-called Muslim “brotherhood” when they entered jail, but this was separate from the gangs, and joined for various reasons such as a vulnerable inmate wanting to make friends or prisoners wanting to share their faith.

There were 13,008 Muslim prisoners in England and Wales at the end of March 2019, about 15% of the total jail population, according to British newspaper The Times. As of March 2018, 48% of prisoners were listed as identifying as Christian, according to a House of Commons paper .

The details of interviews with 83 male prisoners and 73 staff at three of eight high-security prisons in England, which are not named, were carried in the ministry’s report.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
