Liverpool explosion: Three arrested under Terrorism Act after car blast at hospital

Three men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act after a man was killed in a car explosion outside Liverpool Women's Hospital.

Counter-terrorism police said the men - aged 29, 26 and 21 - had been held in connection with the incident which happened just before 11:00 GMT.

The passenger of the car - said to be a taxi - was declared dead at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

The male driver was injured and is in hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives from Counter Terrorism Police North West said the men were detained in the Kensington area of the city.

They added they were continuing to "keep an open mind about the cause of the explosion" and were working with Merseyside Police as the investigation continued "at pace".

Armed officers have carried out raids on a property in Rutland Avenue near Sefton Park, and also in Boaler Street in Kensington.

'Car on fire'

Carl Bessant, who had just had a baby, was inside the hospital with his partner at the time of the blast.

"My partner is really shook up to be honest," he said.

"We were so close and she was feeding the baby when it happened. We heard a loud bang and looked out of the window.

"We saw the car on fire and someone jump out covered in blood, screaming, and there was someone inside the car.

"The hospital shut down, no-one in or out, so they said, but people were using the back entrance."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Twitter: "My thoughts are with all those affected by the awful incident in Liverpool today.

"I want to thank the emergency services for their quick response and professionalism, and the police for their ongoing work on the investigation."

Bro their momentum is not going to stop regardless of what western policies emerge, or occupations shift. They're one deluded, and two big big mad for good reason. Any monetary gain or breathing room is going to used for them to push harder.

The world governments would have to go after their backers, but it's too lucaritive and empowering for governments to have terrorists to make a show of fighting to keep the sheeple sheeping.

You're so bang on with this. It isn't going to go away. And the government wouldn't mind the sacrifices of a few people to foster 'unity' in a nation where that is on the decline - especially Boris who imagines himself a Churchill.

The blown up guy was from Syria. The west made such a mess in the mideast, of course they'll be big big mad.

Having grown up when the IRA campaign was going on here, I find it telling that these lot fighting today, do not hesitate to specifically target women. First that Ariana Grande concert, now this, a women's hospital with lots of new borns. I can only think that the motivation might be twisted revenge for the females and children killed in their original place of origin?

Also, this guy was smart in how he avoided the radar by even converting to Christianity over here.

Oh well, in this case the plan literally blew up in his face.

Hmmmmmm..........

Will this ever end?

You need to understand their mentality. If the west was never in Iraq or Afghanistan, they would use the excuse of the creation of Israel to justify their terrorism. If Israel had never been created then it would have the reconquest of Spain by the Christians. If that had never happened then it would the mother of all reasons for Islamic terrorism--- the CRUSADES!! In Islamic political theory, the word is divided into the house of Islam (the caliphate) and the house of war (the non-Muslim countries). The caliphate was where Muslims held power, the non-Muslim would be taxed and their religious rights curtailed. The Caliphate would ensure that the non-Muslim countries would allow full religious freedom for their Muslim residents out of fear of a Ghazwa - a Muslim military invasion aimed at securing war booty and slaves for the economy of the Caliphate. As long as the non-Muslim countries agreed to their subservient they were safe as long as they paid money and sent slaves to the Caliphate. When you understand this political theory then you understand everything that is taking place today. Historically, the Muslim states attacked non-Muslim states in order to secure booty and slaves, the Turkish sponsored barbary pirates even invaded Iceland in order to secure booty and slaves. It was only when the west became strong militarily that these attacks ceased. Even the fledgling USA had to face attacks from these pirates on their merchant ships in the Mediterranean sea and the US Navy was created mainly to protect their merchant ships.

Up to the 1960s we had over 200 years of the Islamic world being weak and the military and economic strength of the west was able to prevent any large scale acts of aggression for the Muslim countries. However, since the large inflow of money into the Gulf states and their export of Islamic political theory all of the Islamic world has now created a situation akin to the period prior to when the west achieved military superiority. What you see with these Islamic attacks is the resurrection of Islamic political theory.

Our lot are asleep to this. We should be preparing for possibilities.

This is  a really strange one. These idiots, if they truly want to 'get revenge' should not be going for innocent people who have nothing to do with the military and ruling 'elites'

    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
    • All of these are suppositions, bro. Linguists know that, generally, all the social classes of a physical area speak the same language, though some classes may use more advanced vocabulary. I'm talking about the syntax. That is, unless the King is an invader, which Porus was not. When you say Punjabi wasn't very evolved, what do you mean? The syntax must have been roughly the same. As for vocabulary, do you really think Punjabis at the time did nothing more than grunt to express their thoughts? That they had no shades of meaning? Such as hot/cold, red/yellow/blue, angry/sweet/loving/sad, etc? Why must we always have an inferiority complex?
    • I still think about that incident now and then, just haven't heard any developments regarding what happened, just like so many other things that have happened in Panjab!
