Sat Sri Akal:

The point that Babbar Khalsa had tensions between Sant Jarnail Singh Ji comes up in many sources. But history also offers an interesting counter-point. Babbar Khalsa was present in the Harimandir Sahib along with Sant Ji and his companions and fought together against the army attack.

The point that Sant Ji was removed by Babbar Khalsa has a bigger story. It is asserted that Sant Ji was booted out by Bibi Amarjeet Kaur Ji from Guru Nanak Niwas. In a recent interview, Bibi Ji did not state this, but rather stated that her relationship between her and Sant Ji was a caring one, in which Sant Ji always asked her if she was in need of anything after the Shaheedi of Baba Fauja Singh Ji.

So that theory is starting to show some holes.

There is an important book that I KNOW you ALL need to read:

Lost in History (1984 Reconstructed)

By: Gunisha Kaur

Its not about Sant Bhindranwale (though it has a lot of information about him), but about what you are all discussing here in this thread (which is more about 1984 than it is about Sant Jernail Singh Bhindranwale.

Her book is emotional, concise, and breve. Her facts are unbiased (even though her emotions aren't).

And please lets not say Hindus were against Sikhs. Lets not forget it was Hindus in the Gov't that were trying to kill Sikhs. Many people were saved numerous times in 1984 by Hindus they never knew about. Many were saved by their Hindu neighbors (who had as much to lose if they were caught).

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I heard that sant bhindranwale didn't neccesarily support a seperate sikh homeland called khalistan, he just wanted sikhs to be treated more better. Operation blue star was an open attack on the sikhs, as we all know.

sant bhindranwale probably knew that khalistan wouldn't solve all our problems and also probably saw the pain of the partition. Whay should we repeat it?

First off al you if you want to "judge" Sant Jarnail Singh you musnt look at his fight at the Darbar Sahib first.

Look what he did before.

He woke the sleeping Khalsa. A Khalsa that was living like a sheep under its shepherd. By Guru's kirpa he transform the sheep’s into lions.

India well knew that if the Khalsa would be awoken, no one can break them, no one.

So when Sant Ji was doing his seva for the Sikh Panth the sarkari of India was getting afraid that they would lose their "grip" on the Singhs.

They tried everything to demolish Sant Ji. They told so many lies! Why would believe a government that’s not even punishing people who killed thousands of Sikhs in Delhi? Why would you believe a government who is making constitution by calling us long haired Hindus?

Instead that we unity and fight against them we are trying to get idiots points to break our own leader who give everything for the Sikh Panth, for us.

When the Indian army entered Punjab they thought that Sant Ji and the Singhs would give their Kirpaans back and would stand or their knees waiting when the army would arrest them. But no, the Singhs fought so bravely like only the Fauj of Akaal Purkh can do!

Like A.R Darshi wrote in the Gallant Defender: "Numerical strength of the Sikh militants was also miserably insignificant in comparison of the Indian army. The Sikh fighters were not more than two hundred whereas the Army's numerical strength fighting them in the Complex was at least seven thousand. (..)

The Sikh fighters were totally cut of from the state, the country and the world. (..)

Supply of electricity and water was cut of. They had no reserves to reinforce their positions. They had nothing to eat but roasted grains, nothing to drink but their own sweat oozed from their bodies due the scorching heat. They could not sleep for seven days and seven nights. They were exhausted and weared out under these horrible conditions. On the other hand the Indian army had all sort of provisions, facilities, reserves and what not. Yet the Sikhs fought gallantly and demonstrated their remarkable valour, courage and fighting skill. Yet they held the well equipped army at bay for five days and gave it a bloody reply, the reply which the Army would remember forever.

Had the militants been equally armed, had their numerical strength been even on-tenths of the Indian Army, they would have pushed the Army up to Delhi or even beyond Jamuna."

As much as i have read about santji and Bibi amarjeet kaur

Both Mark Tully and Tavleen Singh say she(Bibi Amarjeet kaur) was one of the few to openly criticise Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, according to her Sant Bhindranwale had promised to lead the protest against the nirankaris on that day, and he never showed up, she believed the nirankaris would not have resorted to voilence had santji been present, and both authors say bibi held santji responsible for the shaheedi of Bhai fauja singh.

But statements of many people have changed now that Sant ji is remembered as a marytr, sentiments of many sikhs would be hurt if he is criticised

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
