Erudite scholars of the Dasam Granth, and Sri Sarbloh Granth, have concluded that Kali plays an important role in both scriptures. She is a metaphor for associating femininity with the Akal. In this article I hope to highlight the societal, and familial factors which convinced Guru Gobind Singh Ji to utilise Kali in his works. The Dasam Granth residences a plethora of mystical-cum-spiritual metaphors which are fecund spectres of an ubiquitous vision. One such spectre is that of Kali, the dark Goddess. Evolving from a primeval genesis, Kali is presently a household deity amongst the sub-continent's denizens. Possessing a bloody historicity, to rival that of the Mexica pa…

Most Sau Sakhis are tampered with. Versions were circulated (with appropriate changes) during the mutiny of 1857, prophesising a joint Anglo-Sikh victory over the Mughals. The Namdharias circulated versions in the 1860s supporting the claim of Ram Singh to be a reincarnation of Guru Gobind Singh and the future ruler of Hindustan. The supporters of Maharaja Duleep Singh impressed upon him a version in the 1880s prophesying his return to the Punjab as Maharaja with the help of the Russians. New editions of the Sau Sakhi continue to appear to boost the claims of impostors. Now, in 1984, a Sant in Phagwara from Dukhniwaran Sahib Gurdwara, gave a part [1 sakhi of the 100] …

Here is the small attempt to compile all the sikh mantra's and their deep spiritual meaning: Bij Mantar Ikongkar- One universal awareness being(JOT) all in one, one in all -which is nirlaip (de-attached free from all, infused in all), unchanged thoughtless awareness being expressing in its movement - creating, preserving and changing creation spontaneously. -------------- Maha Mantra: IkOngkar Satnaam Kartapurkh Nirbhauo Nirvair Akaal Murat Ajoni Sahibhang Gurparsad Ikongkar- One universal awareness being(JOT) all in one, one in all -which is nirlaip (de-attached free from all, infused in all), unchanged thoughtless awareness be…

I don't know what the answer is as I have heard many kathavachaks say this and that but they contradict themselves. If anyone has the answer try and back it up with a shabad.

Evolving trends in pre-nineteenth century Sikh Historiography. The primary sphere of reverence, in Sikh academia, is the Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ji with second and tertiary accompaniments being the Dasam Granth and the compositions of Bhai Nand Lal. The latter are noteworthy in many respects. They establish a timeless connection between the reader and writer across several milieus, yet offer only tantalizing glimpses into the lives of the Gurus.' Fluidly focusing upon the Gurus' message, the aforementioned texts lack a cohesive narrative detailing who they where. To ameliorate just such a situation the Sikhs, as a whole, had to parent several distinct genres of literature…

Hi guys, after ardas. Why do they say the next part that goes: "agiya bhai akal ki, tabi chalaiyo panth..." and where is this from? Also, is it "tabbay" or "tabi"? I always heard tabi but I recently got into sikhi a few months ago and in a kirtan hymn on YouTube, they say "tabbay" so I am confused on the pronunciation. I will put the link below:

https://jodhsingh.medium.com/the-manipulation-of-gurbani-and-the-sikh-gurus-for-gender-politics-77225b1c9cb7 As Bhai Prahlad puts it, the 11th and eternal Sikh Guru is of a non-human form; the dual-form of the Guru Granth Sahib as well as the Khalsa. However, to relegate this legacy to a 1:1 comparisons of a specific human attribute (in this case, gender) to then claim that the human Gurus were “subservient to that attribute” is a misnomer. As mentioned above, Sikh literature doesn’t ambiguate as regards to the gender of the physical form the Gurus took upon this Earth; in fact, Juptej implicitly acknowledges this with the translation “the Baba (respecte…
