Satnam... 1 2

Vaaheguroo Jee Kaa Khaalsaa, Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh Why do some of the sikh say 'Satnam' instead of 'Vaaheguroo Jee Kaa Khaalsaa, Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh'? Because in Sikh Student camp, there was a singh (think he was chinese) and everytime he finished a yoga lesson he said 'satnam' to us instead of saying the fateh, and everyone was confused on what to reply back so we just kind of turned around without sayin anything....does anyone know why they say satnam to start or end a conversation? Vaaheguroo Jee Kaa Khaalsaa, Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh

Hi people, im new to this site. I have been amritdhari for a long time now but I have never really been comfortable with it. The main reason is because of my appearance...i dont feel confident having a long dhari and I am just not the same confident person i used to be. everytime i leave the house and walk down the street i am soo consious about how i look and i find that even when im talkin to people im thinkin about how i look to them. I kno it might seem very vain but im struggling with it and i always have been. if i was to cut my dhari then i wud still do my paath and do all the things that i love about sikhi but the only thing that wud be diferent wud be that i t…

Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki Fateh! Theres a camp, and I was asked to help someone come up with an activity related to Bibi Bhani. And I am having a bit trouble. The kids are going to be from ages 7-14. Any activities? heres some info: Bibi Bhani has a unique place in the Sikh history. She is the noble lady who was daughter of a guru (Guru Amardas), wife of a guru (Guru RamDas), mother of a guru (Guru Arjan Dev), grandmother of a guru (Guru Hargobind), great grandmother of a guru (Guru Tegh Bahadar) and great, great grandmother of a guru (Guru Gobind Singh). Out of love, a young girl is called Bibi, but out of respect and love, Bhani is mentioned in the Sik…

Everynight at the gurdwara when SukhAsan takes place and Guru Granth Sahib jee is respectfully carried on the head of a beloved GurMukh, the rest of the GurMukh pyarios' sing : ਜਿਥੈਜਾਇਬਹੈਮੇਰਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਸੋਥਾਨੁਸੁਹਾਵਾਰਾਮਰਾਜੇ॥ Jithai jāė bahai mėrā saṯgurū so thān suhāvā rām rājė. Wherever my True Guru goes and sits, that place is beautiful, O Lord King. The dhol is being beaten, the shaneh (bells and symbols) are chiming, a group of ten children are at the front, the rest of the Sangat follow behind as Guru Sahib goes to the Peace (Sukh) position (Asan) upstairs on the bed. It feels like Guru Gobind Singh jee himself is riding majestically by and the Sangat bow, applyin…

Are God and Guru Nanak Saheb jee separate or the same? My limited understanding thinks of Waheguru ji as a limitless ocean and Guru ji as a wave. They are one and the same yet they are different. It wrong to say the wave is the complete ocean. Guru Gobind Singh ji says that the person who calls him God will go to hell. Blessed Gursikhs speak of having Guru Nanak Dev ji's darshan. They talk about making one's body and mind pure so that Guru Nanak Dev ji will place his lotus feet in you. They meditate and see the light of Akal Purakh, inside which they are blessed with Guru ji's Darshan. The say Guru Nanak ji…

Translated from “Ardas Shakti”, written by Sardar Raghbir Singh Bir. This story is pretty inspiring. ******BEGINNING OF TRANSLATION*********** AUKHI GHAREE NAA DEKHAN DAYEE, APNA BIRAD SAMAALE|| My daughter (S. Raghbir Singh jee's daughter) was expecting a baby. Since this was her first time, it was expected to be a painful delivery. Till nine months, my daughter’s health was normal but at end of the ninth months, her whole body swelled and became sore. Due to some other reasons too, the doctors did not think that this would be a normal delivery case. When I told the senior doctor that for while, everything in my home had been normal and that Vaheguru had never…
