Mother-in-Law of Khalsa The Sixth Role of a Woman In the home of Khalsa I marry my child and I by following in the steps of Mata Tripta Ji I become the proper mother-in-law. In this day and age mother-in-laws are famous for not getting along with daughter-in-laws. We are often questioned ‘why a woman is a woman’s biggest enemy?’ We can make people eat their words by becoming best friends with our daughter-in-laws; all we have to do is look up to Mata Tripta Ji. Mata Tripta Ji helped her daughter-in-law adjust into the new family, helped with the kids and never undermined her daughter-in-law. The kind of relationship that a mother-in-law wil…

Just Up The Road

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As one stands and watches these two frien…

Broken Pot 1 2

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceive…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Its Vasakhi time once again, the day when Guru Gobind Singh gave His Sikhs their final image, appearance, rehit and code of conduct. This day shall forever have a unique importance in the lives and minds of all Sikhs, as it is the day Guru Gobind Singh blessed His Sikhs with Amrit, the nectar of Naam, turning sheeps into lions, making the sparrow hunt the hawk, and setting the foundation of a nation of saint-soldiers. For those who are blessed with Amrit, i salute you. For those who are going to take Amrit this Vasakhi, i salute you. For those who hope to take it in the near future, i pray for you (and you please pray f…

Friday, October 31st, 2003 SHALOK, FIRST MEHL: Branded with a thousand marks of disgrace, Indra cried in shame. Paras Raam returned home crying. Ajai cried and weeped, when he was made to eat the manure he had given, pretending it was charity. Such is the punishment received in the Court of the Lord. Rama weeped when he was sent into exile, and separated from Sita and Lakhshman. The ten-headed Raawan, who stole away Sita with the beat of his tambourine, wept when he lost Sri Lanka. The Paandavas once lived in the Presence of the Lord; they were made slaves, and wept. Janmayjaa wept, that he had lost his way. One mistake, and he became a sinner. The Shaykhs, Pirs and sp…

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh The guru, first divested them of their names and then bestowed the name "singh" on the five, with a shout of triumph and a { rousing} slogan. The guru said: these five- your [former] birth, duty, works, illusions and effort- have been renounced. You are the Khalsa and you wear its uniform, visible and handsome, with due honour. Before administering pahul to u never to be without these five kakaars. First, u must wear a blue Keski, a Kangha of wood, a Kirpan, Kara of sarab-loh and a white Kachehra. If ever you are separated from any one of these go to the gurdwara and seek forgiveness, [promising] not to be careless in the futu…

Sodhi Harbhajan Singh wrote a book called “Bhajan Bandagi da Pratap”. In this book he has narrated a very interesting and funny story of an atheist who used to challenge the existence of God. Gurbani says that Vaheguru ensures that everyone gets food or Rozee but this person used to say that there is no God and if a person does not work for food, food won’t come to him. At one point this atheist person must have had a debate with a Gursikh who believed that Vaheguru provides food no matter where one is.
