Fateh, The main focus is concentration. Do one Japji Sahib with concentration and so much kirpa takes place. And if u lose focus? Simply remember at which tukht u lost focus and go back to it. Keep doing this until u have reached "Kithi chutti naal..." If u don't go back, well? Only u n Waheguru knows... So was that Japji Sahib to impress society or God? Ask yourself. Once u start Japji Sahib you start walking on a tight rope. Each step is a focus. The more u focus, the better the balance. At the end of the rope is Guru Nanak Dev Ji, ready to grab your hand. Unfortunately, some of us wobble n fall off (lose concentration). Some of us fall off from the start, so…

PART I [1] 1. Once, long ago, Vajasravasa gave away his possessions to gain religious merit. 2. He had a son named Nachiketa who, though only a boy, was full of faith in the scriptures. Nachiketa thought when the offerings were made: 3. "What merit can one obtain by giving away cows that are too old to give milk?" 4. To help his father understand this, Nachiketa said: "To whom will you offer me?" He asked this again and again. "To death I give you!" said his father in anger. 5. The son thought: "I go, the first of many who will die, in the midst of many who are dying, on a mission to Yama, king of death. 6. See how it was with those who came before,…

So asthapadi always mean 8 pada right. Thats how its in Sukhmani Sahib. I was going through Sri Raag Ashtapadian. And I notice out of total 17 ashtapadis, the 11th one has 10 ashtapadi rather than 8 . For eg: the number at end of each ashtapadi is like 8 || 1 || 8 || 2 || 8 || 3 || .... 8 || 10 || and then strangely 10 || 11 || then becomes usual again with 8 || 12 || 8 || 13 || .... 8 || 17 || why is this so ?? (ang no 64)

Was just watching a BOS video and bhai Jagraj Singh briefly narrated the story of how Sikhs during the time of Guru Arjan Dev Ji were digging at Amrtisar and as they kept on digging they discovered a meditating yogi underground. The Sikhs woke him up from his samadhi and he asked them if this is the age of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Sikhs said yes its the age of Guru Nanak Dev ji but Guru Ji has left and that Guru Ram Das Ji is here now. The yogi then took amrit from Guru Ram Das ji and passed away, got mukti. So the yogi had been meditating on Waheguru ji and waiting for Guru Nanak Dev Ji for 1000s of years and when he took amrit from Guru sahib he got mukti and left his bod…

I tie a taksali dumala, but i am wondering what is the history behind it. Apparently the singhs in guru jis time used to wear nihang dumala and used used to wear chakars on them. When was the taksali dumala style made? who made it? is there a reason why taksalis wear this dumala?

"Vadhbhag Singh was born into a Khatri Sodhi family in the city of Kartarpur. A direct descendant of Guru Hargobind, he belonged to the lineage of Dhirmal & his heretical group, the Dhirmalias. Vadhbhag Singh’s family had by this time, reconciled with the main body of Sikhs (1) Vadhbhag Singh became the leader of Kartarpur—a city in Doaba established by Guru Arjan Dev (to be distinguished from the separate Kartarpur established by Guru Nanak), with Gurdwara Thamm Sahib. In 1757, when Abdali invaded India, he sent his general Nasar Ali to Doaba (2) Nasar Ali conquered Doaba for the Pathan forces under Abdali. He made Jalandhar his capital, and also paid a vis…
