Can I please make a humble request to the Admins: When you decide to completely delete a thread as if it doesn't exist can you please bear in mind what great things are on that thread and how much the sangat can learn from it, before making your decision to delete it ? Its happened many times here but the most recent one is the 'First Sikh Temple in the UK' thread. That thread was jam=packed with fantastic historical facts. I really don't understnd why facts would want to be hidden from the sangat, especially the children because this is where they would come to learn things. Within that thread there was no swearing, no name calling, no castism (apart from the original…

I've been rather surprised by all the media attention over the appearance of Guardsman Jatenderpal Bhullar on parade duty outside Buckingham Palace this week. For sure, Guardsman Bhullar, 25, has become the first Sikh to wear his turban on guard duty outside the palace. But it is not all that long ago that turban-wearing Sikhs were a familiar feature of Britain's military landscape, particularly when it came to fighting world wars. During the glory days of the Indian Empire, Sikh soldiers were highly regarded by British officers for their martial prowess and never-say-die attitude. Sikh sepoys regularly fought alongside British soldiers during the frequent tribal revolts…

In the division of India in 47, we Sikhs ended up with nothing, and the others who got everything were saying that the "sikhs have missed the bus" when it came to getting a country. Today the the same bus has sped off into the distance and we are still wondering where it is. Yes! there are 4 weeks left to the 84 remembrance program, but yet there are no posters gone up in our gurdwara. I have texted a couple of people including the SikhFed 2 weeks ago, about the posters but have had no reply. Its the 25th anniversary this year and we should have had them up months ago, in fact on the 1st Jan they should have gone up all over the country. Looks like we are gonna be w…

This month we have a exceptional ragi Bhai Sarabjit Singh (hazoori ragi sri darbar sahib) with us in the UK. This week he is in the Midlands and to be honest I was expecting coverage in Ektaone.com as per normal. However nothing so far? Is this due to the changes at Ektaone.com and will the new sewadars not be taking photos and recordings of such brilliants raagis?

More than 2,700 killed in 1984 riots, and just 13 punished for murder: book Tuesday, October 30th, 2007at 9:08 pm New Delhi: Nearly a quarter century after horrific anti-Sikh violence in the national capital left 2,733 innocents dead, just 13 people have been punished in half a dozen murder cases, says a new book. “In all other cases, either the police have closed the file or the courts have acquitted the accused. Symbolism assumes greater significance, given the gap between the rhetoric and reality of the rule of law in India,” said the book, “When a Tree Shook Delhi” (Roli). The book hit the stores this week. “In a larger perspective, this shows that for all t…

Okay this is sumtin tha's been on my mind for the lass little while... over the las two years (mostly within the last year) there's been time n time again where we see posts bashing muslims, hindus and even christians... there's so many hateful posts bein brought up... and granted there are issues where certain groups DO take a stab at us n try to make us look bad or wha not... buh then we have full threads devoted to 'down with islam' kinda ting.. it seems the time where SS is most 'popular' is when there is a heated topic bashing one jattha, or another religion or bashing eachother... i mean there's been points where like 1 in 3 threads was either on 'anti-islamic' post…

Im taking Whey Protein (concentrate) at the moment as opposed to Whey Protein (Isolate) together combined with lots of cardio!. My question is does Whey Protein (concentrate) make you gain more weight instead of burning fat? should i instead start taking Whey Protein (Isolate) as it is more 'pure' i guess? Thanks.
