Wjjk wjkf, I'm still in high-school, due to circumstances I've failed this year and I'll have to redo it. I've known I was going to fail since about two weeks ago when I discussed it with my teachers. That was just before a big exam period, that couldn't save my grade no matter what, my parents however thought it could. Yesterday everyone from my class got called got called to hear whether they passed or failed the year, but since I allready knew, there came no call for me. When my parents inquired I said I received an email instead of a call. Now they want to see that mail. I've lied to them, and that is very wrong and I will never do it again, I feel like <…

I've lost any thirst I had

Some time ago I was excited to wake up at amritvela and I was determined to get up and not fall asleep during my nitnem, and enjoyed listening to asa di vaar afterwards. Now I don't feel that excitement at all, and rather than going straight for an ishnaan once i wake up, I spend around an hour doing anything else. i've become very lazy with my nitnem, and don't listen to asa di vaar anymore. i;ve totally lost that feeling of joy of waking up for my guruji, and i'm worried it'll never come back

I've made a mistake
by Guest amsingh- 0 replies

I've made a mistake, I am 17 years old and I cut my beard for the first time, I'm instantly regretting it and I am now questioning what made me do it. I don't want to do it again but am afraid people will consider me a fool for cutting then keeping again straight away. Many relatives and friends used to push me to cut and used to say one day I they think I will cut. I have made my mind up that I will keep it again and never again dishonor my kesh. How do I do so without looking foolish.

i cant even bring myself to say fateh to the sangat... i kinda got close to this girl, really close, nothing physical, but more id say mentally we got closer, we kinda built our hopes up about having a future together. but now, i realise its wrong...really wrong, its gonna pull me away from my sikhi. in my eyes its manmat. i've told her this, and now im worried she's gonna kinda go off the rails a bit, she's a really great person, mayb not so much into sikhi, but still she's got a good personality...and the fact she's not into sikhi shouldnt lead ppl to judge her (not that the sangat will judge her). what do i do??? help me my older sisters n brothers, iv done a…

I’m confused about my religion 1 2

I am a 28 year old Sikh girl. I used to drink alcohol but I quit, I used to eat meat but I quit. I feel bad eating animals now and I know in our religion it’s preferred I don’t eat meat. I have never ever treated someone unequally or have had ego problems. I do my work honestly and help the community. I have a soft heart. I just really regret some decisions I made before which makes me feel like I’ll be put in an endless cycle again. I lost my virginity before marriage and I’ve been regretting it everyday. I don’t know how I can make up for this or what I can do to better practice my religion. I’m always scared I will go to a bad place after death but I always try to be a…

Hi, Before I start, I thought I'd say I'm from a Sikh background and basically my family don't have much knowledge of Sikhism, I don't care that they don't know much but one thing that worries me is that they don't worship God alone but sometimes think that other people are gods also and this is a big sin I don't want my family to be punished (for their blind deeds they will be blindly punished I think scripture says) as this is against the basic truth that most religions preach (Ek Onkar- there is only one God)! I'll give you examples my sister use to have Hindu idols in her bedroom (though she does not have them anymore as I said its against Sikhism as I showed her ve…

Where do I start? I'm in my 20's. I'm unemployed, I only completed 2 years of my degree at university and I've spent the last 4 years at home working for 9 months out of those 4 years. Up until recently I was smoking weed whenever I got the chance. I was admitted to a mental hospital a few years ago for 10 days because of psychosic from marijuana + alchol overdose. after all the medicine they gave me, I have ongoing Erectile Dysfunction and memory loss. I was also having crazy thoughts about how I was Jesus reincarnated, then when I learned about Sikh faith, I was Guru Nanak reincarnated then Guru Gobind Singh. This problem started when I was reading about …

If 'Silence' was about Sikhi what would you do?
by Guest FilmWatcher- 3 replies

I've just watched a film called 'Silence' directed by Martin Scorsese. It's set in sixteenth century Japan when Christianity was outlawed and people were killed if they were found to have converted. There is a scene in the film where several Japanese converts have denied their faith but are still being horrifically tortured. The Portuguese priest can stop the torture ( and their likely death) if he denounces Jesus Christ. If he gives up his faith he cannot return to it as the Japanese will force him to sign statements and desecrate icons each year to prove he is no longer Christian. If he wants to keep his faith he is forced to watch and hear his congregation suffer…

if everything is preordained why bother trying?
by Guest question- 0 replies

why bother trying to accomplish anything if it's all just a matter of grace. Even with love of parmatma and doing bhagti,it's only by their will as written in bani,so what good is the existence of others like me who aren't blessed with that love to do bhagti? Are life is just a wavering blob of mere existence.

If Guru Gobind Singh Ji stopped the caste system in Sikhi then why do people still mention it? 1 2 3 4
by Guest Kaur 2- 38 replies

VJKK VJKF I am really confused because Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj said that in Sikhi there is no caste system so why do people still mention: Jatt etc especially in films I mean you get films called: Jatt & Juliet and this makes me wonder why people still hold on to this mindframe. We are all equal in Sikhi so why the castes? I don't believe in this sort of unfair mindset. I did not mean to offend anyone that was not my intention. VJKK VJKF

If I follow human Gurus after Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and I believe that he gave the Guruship to others. I still respect the Granth Sahib, but I don’t follow it as a final Guru. Am I still considered a Sikh according to Gurbani? Is there anything in Gurbani saying I can’t be a Sikh? Serious question

I was just wondering this... the rehat maryada states that one of the chaar bujjar kurhets is adultry - you have to be married to commit this. Let’s say a singh wasn’t married, took Amrit at a young age and has a physical relation with someone, does he still have to go pesh?...
