i wanted this question..... is it right when your parents raise their hand on you.....meaning do they have that right given by guru ji to raise their hand to thier children? ......i know it might be suprising to most of the sangat here and maybe abit embarising for me :wub: because my mum abuses me verbally aswell as physically over minor mistakes.......i know it might just sound like "yhh my mum slaps me aswelll".....but this matter is very frequent with me... but when she abuses me.......that question bugs me all night...and i try to convince myself by saying that shes bin through alot of stress and it might be that stress taking over her...but i cant deny the fact…

I'm a 15 year old girl, and am more and more interested in sikhi by the day, thanks to Waheguru's kirpa. I never cu tmy hair, though i used to straighten it but stopped sum time ago, i really want to tke Amrit in the near future but i just can't seem to make that step to covering my hair, I suppose it will take time but i don't know how and lately i've been slightly difting from Sikhi a little bit, probably due to school a little bit. gurfateh i just wanted to ask that did sikhi start when guru nanak dev ji came to this earth??? lmeaining like before the gurus... were there no sikhs or no sikhs with dastaars at all, etc... because i was thinking that even though bhagat ravidass was from a hindu family... he was a sikh...but he didnt wear a bhagh or summat :wub: @ is that because no one wore any before guru nanak dev ji came??? and does that mean he didint go to sachkhand because of that??? people im reaally confused please help me out??? gurfateh

vjkk vjkf what makes a kirpan a kirpan? does it need to have exact shape 2 b classed as 1? or can any curved blade b classed as 1?? and what makes a keski a keski? cant a patkha be classed as keski? or duz it have a minimum length or wraps?? normally when i go to the gurdwara i could only sit with my legs crossed for approx 15 mins @ LOL yh i know its not alot, n i tink im becoming old already! but i start to get backache n especially my knees, hai hai, i cannot even move after sitting there for that time...and i soo hate to be in that situation! ... and normally when im going to sit down, i could actually hear the cracking sounds in my knees lol, this is how unhealthy i have become, meaning i wasnt like this before lol, hmmm prob cuz i put on weight anyways...so i was just hoping that i could get some tips on how to escape this pain while im sitting there and tryin to concentrate :wub: thank juu…

If HUMAN BEINGS could show us how to be perfect sikhs then Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj wouldn't have ended the line of human Gurus and passed gurgaddi over to Guru Granth Sahib Ji Mahraj. Remember that Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj predicted that we were only one of thousands of universes hundreds of years before science discovered this. The Gurus were capable of predicting the future; if they wanted us following one select human in the future they would have predicted them and told us who to follow. DON'T insinuate I'm a fake sikh loooool. Cos you know what "Sikhs" who follow humans like YOU do are called? Namdharis. Sikhs only listen and answer to the 10 Gurus, Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Waheguruji. Nobody else. That's part of why Sikhi is so beautiful, it's the simplicity. We can ACKNOWLEDGE what other people say but not when it goes against the orders or nature of our Gurus (in this case, using the most modern & effective martial arts/ weapons like they did instead of blindly trying to preserve history, then thinking a 300 year old martial art would still be effective today). If Sikhi was abt preserving history rather than practicality, then Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj could've given us a caveman club instead of a kirpan/2 foot long sword. but then we go into the whole "is a gun a kirpan" argument... -

Shastar vidiya . The basis of the unarmed is foundation for the armed combat. There can be a point where u can't get to your weapons. What will you do? Of course the khalsa had unrmed skills. If your sword or weapons broke. What would you do? Grappling etc. wrestling etc. Unarmed combat is known as "platha"
