  1. I think someone mentioned earlier about learning the 'arths' of what you're saying rather than just mindlessley repeating the same thing over and over again. I personally think this is the only way Sikhs of the modern-age will ever really connect with Gurbani. Not that I've done anything like this, lol. I'm still trying to comprehend the meaning of the first pauri of JapJi Sahib! It's going to be a long, long journey. :biggrin2:

  3. You are giving the example of Sikhs living in Haryana to show that Haryana is better governed than Punjab. My friend, Sikhs are an industrious people no matter where they live. In pre partition Punjab, when Sikh soldiers were given land in the Sandalbar area by the British, nothing was growing there. The Sikhs settled that whole area and made areas such as Lyalpur, Sahiwal(montgomory),Sargodha into the best agriculture districts in British India. Same is true for SIkhs who after partition moved to Haryana. Just compare the Sikh with the Hindus of Haryana. Sikhs replicated their success In UP, Uttarakhan, MP and Rajasthan. When Sikhs had bought land in those areas and settled in large numbers, they managed to thrive and be more productive and successful than the local non Sikh counter parts. Does that mean that UP, Uttarakhand, MP, Rajasthan are also better governed than Punjab? I dont think so. Other than Gurgaon, Haryana has nothing to show for. Gurgaon is the only reason Haryana is doing well. Has another city in Haryana replicated Gurgaon's success? NO. And Gurgaon's success has nothing to do with Haryana itself. Just because it is next door to Delhi and Delhi has shortage of land and so Gurgaon in Haryana and Noida in UP being close are seen as areas of interest for foreign investment. Even the people settled in those cities are hardly the locals. It is mostly educated Indians from other states especially educated people moving from Delhi and Punjab.

  4. Press Release and Sangat Update – Coventry, UK Sunday 22 July 2012 www.SatkaarCampaign.blogspot.com Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry agrees to stop meat and alcohol parties in Gurdwara community centre Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Further to our previous Sangat Update on 6 July 2012, we are pleased to inform the UK Sangat that with Guru Maharaaj’s kirpa the management committee of Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry have agreed to stop taking further bookings for meat and alcohol parties in the community centre which is owned by and is part of the complex of the Gurdwara. The decision was taken at a general body meeting of the Gurdwara on Sunday 15 July 2012. This followed a meeting that took place between representatives of the Ramgarhia Gurdwara committee and various Gurdwara Parbandaks from the midlands region onSaturday 14 July 2012. The representatives from Ramgarhia Gurdwara included the President Ajit Singh Jootla, General Secretary Swaran Singh Panesar and committee member Surinder Singh Jandu. The Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry committee representatives informed the Parbandaks that they had contemplated banning meat and alcohol parties for a considerable time but would now do so by way of submitting a motion at the general body meeting on 15 July 2012. The Gurdwara committee informed the Parbandaks that three more parties were scheduled to take place the last being on 18 August 2012 and that nofurther bookings with meat and alcohol would be taken after that date. It was confirmed that the Gurdwara sangat would be informed of this and that the community centre would in future be used as a multi-purpose centre including for Punjabi and Kirtan classes and that the possibility of using it for sport would also be looked into. The Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry committee representatives agreed for Satkaar Campaign Sevadaars to attend the Gurdwara at a future date and address the Gurdwara Sangat. We congratulate the Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry committee for the welcome step it has taken and are thankful to the midlands Parbandaks for their active involvement on finding a resolution in this matter. We are appreciative of the fact the Parbandaks arranged their meeting with the Ramgarhia committee at shortnotice upon our request. We look up to the Parbandaks and wish to continue working hand-in-hand with them to ensure that all UK Gurdwaras follow the 2006 Sandesh prohibiting meat and alcohol parties so that the authority of Akaal TakhatSahib is not undermined and maximum Satkaar for Sri Guru Granth Ji Maharaaj is maintained. Satkaar Campaign Sevadaars remained committed to raising awareness on this issue and will work together with all Parbandaks and Jathebandees to remove the cancer of party halls on Gurdwara premises from Gurdwara’s throughout the country. Finally, we would like to point out that we understand the three remaining parties at Ramgarhia Gurdwara Coventry community centre will permit meat and alcohol to be consumed. We invite the Gurdwara committee to liaise with the relevant families that have booked the parties to have them re-located to another venue not linked to the Gurdwara Sahib, so as to prevent the Beadbi that will otherwise occur. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

  6. I would say its about experience, we want to have the experience of Waheguru. So thats what we practice, having a real experience, once its real, then you know it, until then its an idea But in order to have an experience you need traning/teaching on what to do and what not do. In the same way you want to drive a car, without an instructor it would be very difficult to pick it up, even harder if it was a huge truck, even harder an aeroplane! Reaching Waheguru is even more complex, but the Gurus simplified the method for the people so that a layman can reach God if he does the right things. I would recommend reading the Japji Sahib which is the main hymn of all Sikhs, it contains the philosophy, ideas and many other things all put together in one hymn. This is repeated every single day but Sikhs all over the world. here is a link http://www.3ho.org/k...pji%20Sahib.pdf also check out this video,

  7. Thats bullocks...This whole idea of sachkhand only accessible/permissible by amritdhari singhs came with bhausaria and its revisionist ideology of Sikh Dharma. I have fought by maharaj kirpa to the teeth with bhausaria panthis and will continue to do so...whats next? sachkhand made out of sarbloh doors?..i wouldn't be suprised as teja singh singh bhausaria change vahiguroo mantar to make it more tat khalsa oriented!! All mystic traditions of all dharams (i.e christians- gnostic, muslims- sufi, hindu- umberalla of orders believing in nirgun paratma- sarabvypak atma-paratma etc) have potential to merge with god - sachkhand, they all have named differently but its same..!! Most sikh bhramgyani saints believe sachkhand is sanjha to all (including sant hari singh ji randhawale who is on record on saying krishan maharaj is in sachkhand), not just reserved to sikhs (who these days, love to debate and love to live in glorious concepts and past including me at times, but hardly make any effort to go towards sachkhand). Out of all mystic traditions, clearly gurmat is distinct and an short cut way to get to sachkhand..!! What is sachkhand? Gurmat supports meta reality, based on your spiritual surti and perception- . Sackhand is both- in form of baikhunt is real realm and sachkhand - state of mind- avastha is nirgun chaitan bhram- sarab vypak (one's intituation totally merged with all prevading vahiguroo). Both are parvan in Gurmat, no one is inferior to one another..! Here is sufi version of sachkhand, its from sant waryam singh ji ratwara sahib wale divan:

  8. In the tuk mentioned, Bhai Gurdas ji is describing historical personalities and the events related tothem or (the dialog that may have taken place in that historical event). So, the characters in that description are being addressed as they would have been addressed by other characters in that situation. For Sudhaama and his wife, Krishana was the lord - may even was thought of as the avatar of Vishnu.. In Gurbani the Brahamanic concept of God taking birth as trimurti avatars is rejected. In Sikhi the world is treated to have been created, maintained and destroyed by Hukam of Nirankaar –not by trimurti avatars.. * Further I agree with N30SINGH that Waheguru is best understood in Nirgun and Sargun forms of the world. God as avatar or man is rejected in Gurbani

  9. I think N30S1NGH is saying that we should understand the meaning of gurbani. If you don't know what you are saying, then you are speaking gibberish. Perhaps that is why your mind wanders.

  10. So the point is to develop a strict routine, almost like working out. If you say it repetitively, then it becomes part of your thinking. There is nothing special about the number 125,000. It's just a goal someone sets. Similar to a weight lifter setting a goal for how many reps he will do. Doing it 126,000 times then wouldn't be beadbi. Doing something repetitively is a meditation within itself. It reprograms the brain, so to speak. Is this the gist of it?

  11. I am sorry singh but i have to be blunt because its a common problem, its not you but common mindset- Instead of doing panj banis as dogmatic ritual for eg (typical mullah doing panj namaza as a ritual fully condemned in guru ghar) may be we should step back and do panj banis while doing vichar on their arths, or attune our intitution to arths of panj banis- japji sahib, jaap sahib, svaiye, chaupai sahib, anand sahib..!! If situation does not allow much time- may be spent all your amritvela listening to arth of japji sahib and go deep into it and then listen to all the other banis with ipod...after a while do the samething with other nitneem banis.

  12. the idea of a chalisa or sava lakh jaap is to go into a 5th gear maryada.something intense and hardcore that will not normally be achived following your standard nitnem routine.......theres nothing brahmnical about it.....i dont think many people here understand brahmanism.......it is a con system to con people.so in this context a brahman would say "oh you can only do sava lakh jaap or chalisa by following my instructions i know best....firts make me an offering and bring xyz throw it in the river and give me xyz then start your jaap you must have ishnaan, you cannot see the shadow of a low caste, you cannot go nera a dog etc, you cannot done this you must do this. Then at the end of the jaap you come to me i will do your ardass and you gotta give me offering etc ....onlyu i will be able to tell if you have recived the fruits of your jaap etc etc.this is brahmanism.......just like the brahmans today in Govt of India robbing the poor but they themselves remain minted

  13. the place you are talking about is nanaksar kaleran and is based in jagroan ludhiana, the asthaan you did darshan of is the bhora sahib of sant baba nand singh ji - the paath bheta of doing darshan was installed by sant baba isher singh ji nanaksar (hence perhaps the misunderstanding with rare wale baba ji and nanaksar wale) the paath can be done anytime during your life when possible (presumably before you die lol!) in case you don't remember, the bheta is as follows: 1 akhand paath or 2 sukhmani sahib paaths a day for a month or 10 japji sahib paaths a day for a month or 6 108 maaleh of moolmantar until nanaksar hosi bhi sach a day for a month or 40 108 maaleh of waheguru simran a day for a month or 80 108 maaleh of raam raam a day for a month

  15. Your reasoning is wrong you obviously havent looked to gurbani for an answer just some dodgy rational thinking on your own part. In bani it mentions numerous times that within your hair you hold power/shakti.guru's grace, im not going to put the quotes up as i believe you should do your own research. Really half assed effort i mean even a search on this forum would lead to your answer Stop whinging and start doing!
