  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh UK Sikh gurdwara's are continuing to carry out inter-faith weddings against Akal Takht advice. The Rehat Maryada states 'Persons professings faiths other than the Sikh faith cannot be joined in wedlock by the anand karaj ceremony.' So, although the marriages may be legal under UK law, are the marriages recognised under Sikh principles? Are gurdwara masand's breaking the law by conducting marriages under 'false pretences'?

  3. Then find Amritdharis that are not vile people to run the Gurdwara. Obviously you don't say I'll pick the better of the two who are both disobeying Guru Sahib. Well some like you will do this when it comes to Sikhi. But when it comes to surgery that may result in death. You will tell both of these bad surgeons to get lost and you will run to find the best surgeon to conduct the surgery. You value your life more and some value Sikhi more.

  4. Air control monitoring station being set up at Golden Temple By PTI - AMRITSAR Published: 27th November 2013 07:45 PM Last Updated: 27th November 2013 07:45 PM An air control monitoring station will be set up soon in the premises of the Golden Temple at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore to keep surrounding atmosphere hygienic and free from all kinds of pollutions. The system, being put in place by the Punjab Government, will help in protecting the gold plating of the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said here today. He said all commercial/private vehicles which were over 15 years old and three wheelers more than 10 years old would not be allowed to go inside the old walled city, particularly around the Golden Temple forthwith in order to save and ensure the old grandeur and pristine glory of the shrine. Battery operated vehicles would ferry pilgrims from outer city to walled city, he said, adding diesel operated electric generators too would not be allowed around the Golden Temple. 9. I made it very clear in my second sentence who can successfully run Gurdwaras. Since you and others missed it the first time. Here it is again: I have seen personally the Sikh community grow when Amritdhari/Sehajdhari Sikhs take control of a Gurdwara or be another institution like a school. Do you know why they are successful. Not because how smart they are or how well they are able to make connections with stakeholders in the community. But because they bow at the feet of Guru ji and let Guru ji run the show by following instructions. And for your idealism and realism remark. I see how you want to play God because I have been down that road. I have no desire to play God and all I can do is ardas. Akaali Phula Singh ji did ardas, Baba Buddha ji did ardas, Bhai Lehna ji did ardas, Bhai Sati Das ji did ardas, Baba Gurbaksh Singh ji did ardas and the list goes on. You want to play God by saying pick the better of the two bad apples and let one of them dictate what is Gurmat in a Gurdwara is only going to put the Khalsa Panth in a worse position. And this will create even a bigger divide where the next generation will completely lose all values of Sikhi. When Gursikhs like Baba Buddha ji and Bhai Mani Singh ji were in charge of running Sikh institutions the Khalsa Panth stood strong no matter how much "suffering" it went through. Sant Jarnail Singh ji showed how to run Sikh institution and look at the glory of how many shaheeds the Khalsa Panth had step up to defend the truth. Look now at your hand where people like you want to play God. By playing God you have lost the youth and have lost the Sikhs that once stood along side Sant Jarnail Singh ji on the platform of truth for every human and creature.

  10. Agreed with chatanga, just because one is Amritdhari, it doesn't qualify them or make them immune to public scrutiny. He never insinuated that monas should be allowed to run Gurdwaras, he's just pointing out an inconvenient truth that stings. Mera 22g 0bama says it the best:

  11. Gap slams racist graffiti after ad featuring Sikh jewelry designer Waris Ahluwalia is vandalized with anti-Muslim slurs By MISTY WHITE SIDELL PUBLISHED: 09:24 EST, 26 November 2013 | UPDATED: 10:01 EST, 26 November 2013 GAP has been forced to defend its holiday campaign after anti-Muslim graffiti appeared scribbled on one of its advertisements posted in New York City’s subway system. The subject of the racist graffiti is Waris Ahluwalia- a jewelry designer and actor who is Sikh, not Muslim. For GAP’s holiday campaign – the theme of which is ‘make love’ – Ahluwalia, 39, poses with model and filmmaker Quentin Jones. But where the advertisement reads ‘make love’, one unknown New York vandal has crossed out ‘love’ and written in ‘bombs!’ below. Islamaphobia: Anti-Muslim graffiti was found blanketing a GAP ad featuring the Sikh jewelry designer and actor Waris Ahluwalia on a New York City subway platform The original: GAP's 'Make Love' campaign features Ahluwalia alongside filmmaker and model Quentin Jones The graffiti also includes a line that reads, ‘Stop driving taxis!’ The vandalized ad was originally found and captured by New York photographer Robert Gerhardt on the downtown platform of the Buhre Avenue 6 train stop in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx. More...The most famous jeweler you've never heard of: Meet the needlepoint designer-turned gem artist being hailed 'the Fabergé of our time' Where are those Victoria's Secret curves? How Angels off the runway are rather less buxom than you think Gerhardt forwarded the images to Muslim journalist and commentator Arsalan Iftikhar who quickly shared it with his near-40,000 cumulative followers on Twitter and Facebook. Iftikhar told MailOnline that the photo made him want ‘the world to see how brown people are viewed in America today.’ Gerhardt's image received a wave of responses, many of which expressed outrage over the graffiti. ‘[This] makes me very very sad. The world is becoming more hateful,’ responded one Twitter follower. ‘Sadly typical,’ replied another. Iftikhar’s multiple Twitter dispatches were also re-tweeted by influential Muslim author and commentator Reza Aslan to more than 54,000 of Aslan’s own followers – helping draw more attention to the misinformed graffiti. Signature style: Ahluwalia has been named to multiple best dressed lists for his signature look which includes a black turban, long beard, and fitted suit Gap even responded to Iftikhar’s tweets to inquire where the graffiti was located. Representatives for the brand tell MailOnline that they are now ‘working to replace the image [in the Bronx].’ They also issued a statement that says: ‘Gap is a brand that celebrates inclusion and diversity. Our customers and employees are of many different ethnicities, faiths, and lifestyles and we support them all.’ When Gap’s ‘Make Love’ holiday campaign debuted earlier this month, the brand received an outpouring of positive responses on its Facebook page from members of the Sikh community. Iftikhar feels that ‘This whole story just proves that we do not live in a post-racial America yet when South Asians and those perceived to be Muslims cannot even grace fashion advertisements without racial epithets being directed their way.’ Film actor: In addition to his jewelry line House of Waris, Ahluwalia is also an actor and has appeared in multiple films directed by his friend Wes Anderson, including The Darjeeling Limited (above), in which he was featured alongside Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman Ahluwalia is a well-known face in fashion circles. He designs the celestial jewelry label House of Waris, which earned him a prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination in 2009, as well as an official membership with the CFDA. Most ironically, in this case, designer has been named on multiple best-dressed lists by the likes of Vanity Fair and British GQ for his original style which typically takes on the uniform of a black turban, a long beard, and an impeccably-fitted suit. Ahluwalia is also a muse for the film director Wes Anderson, who has cast him in movies including The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and The Darjeeling Limited. He is just one of the subjects in GAP’s ‘Make Love’ holiday campaign, which also stars Cyndi Lauper, and Tony Bennet. 14. Akal Takhat Issues Aadesh Regarding Gurdwara Committees By: Sikh24 Editors AMRITSAR SAHIB (November 27, 2013)—In a decision taken at Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, it was decided that only practicing Sikhs should be allowed to be members of Gurdwara committees. The decision was taken after Sri Akal Takhat Sahib had received numerous complaints about non-practicing Sikhs carrying out anti-Gurmat activities within Gurdwara premises. Many times, these persons are on the Gurdwara committees and do as they please. 15. sangat ji waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh dass wanted to ask 2 questions regarding jaaping naam 1. when one says do 32 mala of mool mantar , what ones means ? daas means how to bdo it? are all malas contains same no. of beads if yes how much? 2. how one exactly uses mala to keep count of jaap thanks in advance
    1 point
  16. Not entirely sure what you are asking but a few basic points below. Hopefully I've not over simplified it for you. One mala has 108 beads. So to do jaap of Mool Mantr you just recite one Mool Mantr per bead moving along continuously until you reach the end of the mala. To do 32 mala you need to repeat what I've just said 32 times. Sometimes you see people with a smaller mala. These have 27 beads so 4 small malas equal one large one (4 * 27 = 108). The whole point of using a mala is to keep count. I suppose when you are doing a large number of malas then you need an extra mala to keep count of how many malas you've done. Alternatively, get yourself a "clicker" or phone app which you can use to increment the count. Please remember that using a mala is just a tool to help you progress spiritually by setting you a target.

  20. You do not understand why I presented Gursikhs as examples. Once in a century. In the last century we saw Bhai Randhir Singh, Sant Thakur Singh ji, Bhai Gurjant Singh ji, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar, Sant Jarnail Singh ji, Baba Nand Singh ji, Sant Kartar Singh ji, Sant Sunder Singh ji, Sant Gurbachan Singh ji, etc. Guess what, all did ardas. None behaved like you or like minded thinkers. You can use your brain and so far you and like minded thinkers have driven the Panth into the hole deeper by using your brain. Sikhs that do ardas have shown how they have become successful by taking the Guru's path and doing ardas. Yet you call it idealism. For your information when something get's proven and then get's proven numerous times afterwards. That means it is not idealism, but reality. ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਚਲਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਖਸਮ ਚਲੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੨੨॥ ang 474 O Nanak, no one can issue commands to the Lord Master; let us offer prayers instead. ||22||

  22. ( I feel a great personal loss. I had the fortune of knowing him though I lost contact with him later on. He helped me at a very critical time of my studies. ) Source: http://www.sikhsiyasat.net/2013/11/26/a-devote-sikh-khalistan-supporter-prof-uday-singh-passed-away/ A devout Sikh, Khalistan supporter, Prof. Uday Singh passed away By Parmjit Singh Published: November 26, 2013 Toronto, Ontario (November 26, 2013): According to a news reported by Sikh24.Com, an online Sikh news portal, Professor Uday Singh of Toronto (Canada) passed away this past Friday, November 22nd after having suffered a heart attack a few days earlier. Professor Uday Singh was well known in the Toronto area for his dedication to teaching children Gurmukhi and Gurmat. For over 40 years Professor Uday Singh taught young children Gurmukhi, Gurmat and Santhia at his Gurmat School, all for free. He was a Math professor at the Laurentian University in Ontario and after retiring he began to focus all his time and attention towards teaching children Gurmukhi. . Prof Uday Singh He started out in a small basement where children would come to learn to read and write Punjabi, he was then able to buy a small unit where he could teach more children, in a school setting. He never asked for a cent from the students in return, all he asked was for them to put in the effort to learn what he was teaching. He taught thousands of students in the Toronto area, many of whom would not be able to read or write Punjabi if not for his efforts. He taught the children of his earlier students, and then their children as well—spanning three generations in the Toronto area. Professor Uday Singh was a companion of the great Sikh, Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh for 16 years and doing seva in Amrit Sanchars with Bhai Sahib for many years. He then immigrated to Canada in 1961 and had never gone back. He was a staunch supporter of Khalistan, which cost him his Indian passport and the ability to ever go back to his original home. Professor Uday Singh wrote many books during his life, one of them named I made friends with a Saint about his time spent with Bhai Sahib Bhai Randhir Singh. Another of his books was titled The Waning and Waxing of the Khalistan Movement, which is the book he believed cost him his Indian Passport and got him put on the black list. “I have reason to believe it is this book poisoned them against me and my passport was taken away,” he said once. Professor Uday Singh provided financial support to the families of Ajaib Singh Bagri and Inderjit Singh Reyat during their Air India Bombing trials. He believed them to be innocent of the crimes they were accused of, saying in a 2007 interview, “No Sikh is guilty of doing that. The Hindu government got it done.” Professor Uday Singh’s body was draped with the flag of Khalistan at the public viewing—his support for Khalistan was strong throughout his life. He sent monthly checks to the families of Inderjit Singh Reyat and Ajaib Singh Bagri saying, “I have every sympathy with the whole family, especially with the mother who has suffered most. To me they are like a bunch of flowers, very fragrant and very well-behaved and high-quality people to me.” Although he was financially stretched by running his free Gurmat School, he still managed to send monthly checks to the families. Professor Uday Singh was known to live on only 10% of his earnings and give 90% towards Panthik causes. A Sikh is obliged only to give 10% towards the Panth and live off the remaining 90%. Professor Uday Singh’s body was draped with the flag of Khalistan at the public viewing—his support for Khalistan was strong throughout his life. He was an accomplished Gursikh, having Sangat of many renowned Gursikhs in India from the mid-1940s until 1961. After immigrating to Canada in 1961 he dedicated all his time to teaching children Gurmukhi and instilling Gurmat values in them. He will be missed by the thousands of people he taught and met, and thousands more who heard of his undying need to teach the future generations of Sikhs. He had strict adherence to Gurmat and was not afraid to voice his opinion no matter who stood with him or against him. The Panth has lost a great jewel in Professor Uday Singh, however his legacy lives on in the thousands of people he touched and inspired throughout his life.

  24. Your experience does not speak for all of the Khalsa Panth. I have seen personally the Sikh community grow when Amritdhari/Sehajdhari Sikhs take control of a Gurdwara or be another institution like a school. Do you know why they are successful. Not because how smart they are or how well they are able to make connections with stakeholders in the community. But because they bow at the feet of Guru ji and let Guru ji run the show by following instructions. I can name you other examples from history by starting from the Second Guru of the Sikhs. This plan is ALWAYS successful. No extra effort is needed to implement such plans. I believe along with other Amritdhari Singhs and Kaurs when my Guru says he will stand shoulder to shoulder with me when I follow his hukams that he will do it. I do not second guess or doubt Guru ji at all. I can give you numerous examples of this taking place. The Guru doesn't need some mona or Amritdhari that has a lot of money and political push to do anything, while both disobey Guru Sahib. The Guru is self-sufficient, if you already don't know read Mool Mantar. In there we are told Guru Sahib is self-sufficient. Guru Sahib showed his ability through many Sikhs in the past and the more recent past and is currently showing it through many Sikhs. What you are trying to do is pigeon hole Guru Sahib and then try to run the show on your own by saying a mona is better than a certain amritdhari because of some condition you put on the amritdhari. Obviously you have not done deep contemplation of Gurbani to know..............Sikhs do ardas and don't issue commands to Guru Sahib.

  25. Please watch from 13:04 to 16:28 to know the real meaning behind 12 o clock. It has nothing to do with time as watches we have today were not invented back then. It refers to an old Indian game called chaupat, where one throws dice where 6 is the biggest number on each dice. When 6 appears on both dices, the total number is 12 and that is seen as sign of victory. Thus, each time Singhs rescued kidnapped Hindu girls, and would report back to their respective Jathedars stating "12 vajj gaye jee", which in fact meant we have achieved victory and have successfully rescued the innocent girls.

  26. I like your analogy, as it is in some part true, but lets add to it a little. Lets say there is a patient requiring surgery, and in walks Jaspreet11, he is smartly dressed, wearing a white doctors coat, stethoscope around his neck, and ID badge around his neck with the label DR Jaspreeet11, and pens in his top pocket. Then in shuffles chatanga, who is scruffy, has no coat, no stethoscope, no id, and no id that he is a doctor. Who is the patient going to naturally assume is the doctor? the one who looks like a doctor, or the one who doesnt? Give the patient a choice, its either Dr Jaspreet 11, or its chatanga, who would you like to perform this surgery? What do you think the patient will say? Of course he is going to go with the one who looks the part, but he doesnt know whether this guy is any good, other than he looks like he knows what he is doing. That is what we have started to do, think that just because someone is amritdhari/kesadhari, then automatically they fit the criteria. But it is not an accurate assesment of whether one is able to perform the task. I will say again, as I have worked very closely with gurdwara committee for about 10 years now, that having a amritdhari person, does not automatically mean the gurdwara will be better run.
    1 point
  27. Correct, if you started looking at those who obey the Guru completely you may just get enough Sikhs to make a committee in the whole of 1 city. Its not just about finding amritdharis that are good, there are a lot who are very good, but to find amritdharis who are able to fulfill the demanding requiremnents of management. Believe me, it is not easy. Being a good Sikh doesnt automatically make you a good committee member, and I know of many exemples of good practicing Sikhs who once they have been on the committee has shown themselves to be naive and un-prepared for the harsh duties of dealing with joe public.] jaspreet, dont assume and dont get personal. Being a realist is not the same as what you are making out. You can only work with the tools you have. Learn that and grow up. he hasnt hit anything on the head, he hasnt solved anything,

  28. All gurdwara committee members, president, camp heads abroad should get their criminal records, credit records checked simply because you are simply in a high authority position, influencing position - dealing with large sum amount of money, innocent sangat, vulnerable person - kids, elderly as there are way too many cases of misconduct- abuse of powers. We would rather be safe than sorry . They should not be offended its simple process to be in function in high authority position and highly privileged position. Most jobs abroad have requirement to get criminal record checked, i don't see why gurdwara committee jobs should be any different.

  29. Fair decision but don't agree with how its presented they need to add more and clarify further. They had a ample opportunity to reiterate gursikhi both outer and internal rehit principles ( sat, santokh, dya, dharam, gyan, advait) address gurdwara committee/ management issues and replace committee structure with panj pyares. The way rule of sabat sorat sikhs is presented in hakumnama, its coming across as - merit of being in gurdwara committee is automatically given to someone who has sabat surat only. Not only its (this automatic merit given to sabut surat/keshadhari sikh) is dangerous slipperly slope but also very short sighted not compatible with broader gursikhi teaching at all. It's actually not that hard to be keshadhari at all, this partial hakumnama inadvertently give more chances for criminal type of people and sheerly affected by panj chors simply grow kesh and be keshadharis to be in gurdwara committee- exploit the loophole in order to be in power and control the masses. This rule (only requirement to be in the gurdwara committe is keshadhari) cannot even stand on its own feet, its just a matter of time someone brings up - demonic rakshash dusht kps gill, nang demonic rakshash dusht phoola, demonic rakshash dusht beant, dogra's, reyat, keshadharis abroad with criminal record backgrounds in gurdwara committee, sarna, badal, rss (Rashtriya Sikh Sangh), some of bedi clans with twisted beliefs are all sabat sorat/keshadharis? whats their point? What a mess.!!

  30. I thought a patit sikh is a fallen sikh. A sikh that has been initiated at one time into the khalsa but not kept his/her vows and thus broken/defaced their own amrit. I'm not too sure why some people refer to ANY mona as a patit, when that is not the case. As Chatanga mentioned above, some of them put more than their heart into the seva whereas some full amritdharies just walk around as if they don't need to do anything. Many of these type of monas that get involved in seva and many other activities ...end up embracing the khalsa eventually and become amritdharies. Do we really want to start segregating and ignoring them like brahmins do ?? Don't we end up putting them off and discourarging any hope of them embracing khalsa further down the path ? Has no one on here ever really come across a mona that is a sikh of the higher order, in terms of actions, devotion and conduct ?

  31. If this comes out as a hukamnama we have no choice but to implement it. However, (you felt one coming day ya?), as an individual who has worked very closely with Gurdwara committees for the last 9 years, I personally would not put, or favour a restriction on mona's because I know of some amritdhari committee members who are the some of the most cretinous vile people you could ever meet. I know of some mona's who have given their heart(if not their head) in sewa of the gurdwaras.

  33. Many Christians are selling Christianity to these people literally by paying them to become Christians. These type of people are lazy and hang on to anything that will provide them with living expenses. Christians have the ability to pay others to join initially because they have the funds. Some of the sheep are not smart so they just fall for the Adam and eve magical show. Majority of the people join Christianity to make their lives better not spiritually, but worldly. You make successful business partners has friends and become part of a community that will help you financially. In return be our slave by joining our religion. Let's face it, Punjabis are suckers when it comes to free stuff. The free langar is not enough for them anymore and now they want the institutions to pay them for just being part of a religion. Not going to happen in Sikhi. Sikhi is about quality and not quantity.

  35. Such weapons have been used in treta yug and dwapar yug . Thar desert (Rajasthan) is the proof of its use. This weapon in the form of atomic bomb will surely be used but one thing to be noted is that whenever this weapon was used there was an avatar in physical form to reduce the deadly effects. Now in kalyug there are some mahapurakhs who have shifted the events of world war 3 and are reducing itd deadly effects with their kamai. Mahabharat marked the end of dwapar yug and kalyug started after it. Similarily world war 3 will be the end of kalyug and will mark the beginning of 14000 year golden age (satyug) within kalyug.
