  2. Islam is definitely an incipient threat in the case of the Sikhs, but right now we have more immediate causes for concern, i.e. the GOI and Hindutva.

  3. Agree. From a purely Sikh cultural and social perspective, Islam can be countered by staying vigilant; by protecting and educating our youngsters before they're "got to" by an uber-politically correct climate that's heavy on appeasement and has pervaded much of the West, as well as the threat of the, "All paths lead to the One" religious brigade. In a wider social and political context, there's not much we can do to "fight" terrorism. But as I said previously, the average Muslim is not the villain of the piece. Unless there's some next level Sun Tzu / Machiavelli planning bubbling underneath the surface, I do think they just want to crack on with life like the rest of us. I can't say the same for the Jihadis, though.

  4. There is a saying that if kids were taught (in their very early age) where food comes from, they would prefer to be a vegetarian.
    3 points
  5. I don't think that's specific to kids, although kids do need to be 'taught' things. But everyone would be vegetarian if they 'thought' about where their food comes from. Trouble is, people like to create a distance between the source and how their food (meat) ended up on the supermarket shelf and ultimately their dinner plate. They like to imagine Walmart has this wonderfully clean state of the art laboratory where meat is magically manufactured and packaged ready to be shipped off to the supermarket shelf. In truth though they know where it actually comes from but because they don't like to think about it they like to create a massive distance whereby someone else does the killing and butchering....out of sight, out of mind. You have to question then, the value in eating something that makes one feel so uncomfortable that you need someone else to get their hands dirty on your behalf in order to source it for you...out of sight, out of mind. But, the reality is that 30 years from now our children will be having this exact same discussion about the way we (their mothers and fathers) drank milk. i.e the way we closed our eyes and pretended we just didn't see or know about the extreme cruelty involved in sourcing that milk. As everyone knows, the animals such as the one in the picture above, that get slaughtered, are the lucky ones. The ones that have to suffer endless perpetual cruelty (no doubt wishing they would be slaughtered and their suffering ended) are the ones that have to provide you with that glass of milk. In 2016 we're still nswering questions about meat and our ignorant parents. And so...in 2024....How are you going to answer questions about milk and our ignorant selfs ?

  6. It's 'delusions'. And I'm not. Plus, that doesn't even make sense in this context. What are you talking about?

  7. I hear this from so many Americans, I'm beginning to believe they must teach this in their schools. Can't have the little kiddies growing up with a jaded worldview that the home of the brave and the land of the free was built on systematic acts of genocide against its native population. Diseases and a lack of immunity played its part, but that's like claiming after pushing someone off a skyscraper, "The nudge didn't contribute to his death; the pavement was his enemy."

  8. It's Charles Martel. He was a Frankish Emperor who saved Christendom from being overwhelmed by Spanish Muslims in the 8th century AD. I think this probably tells us something about thesoldier's reasons for supporting Trump.

  9. i know you have a preconception of Sir Donald Trump, well done on putting your own spin on what he actually said

  10. Well that's the sticking point. It's slowly becoming a trend amongst amritdhari's which will lead to a 'holier than thou' attitude. You can see it starting off with the 'guilt trip' posts on social media and websites nowadays. Hats off to anyone who only consumes raw milk or is vegan, but don't use it as a platform to criticise those who choose not to.

  11. I think we are most at threat from either kneejerk reactions in the aftermath of some heinous terrorist strikes - like if, say, jihadis attack a school or something. Or being on the receiving end of a general hatred of brownies as a consequence of a long drawn out war between Europe/US and Johnny Jihad. Because, let's be frank, this is a war going on around us. I remember as a kid in London, Irish people used to get abuse and grief (sometimes physical but more often verbal/psychological) because of the IRA campaigns. So it's no big unprecedented thing. Thing with us is we can't hide like Paddys kids could after being raised here - we stick out visually - even by just being a lovely shade of brown. lol

  15. I think some of you sikhs need to understand and acknowledge there will be some sikhs that dont agree with what the majority of sikhs agree on. Them sikhs need to respect their opinion instead of calling them, non-sikh, bigots, racist and causing a drama Respect other peoples opinions Learn to "agree to disagree"

  18. They're trying to get us riled up to fight their battles for them. Just keep reminding them their white leaders / governments / elected officials are the true traitors who've betrayed their country and the indigenous population. They can't counter that argument because it's absolute fact.

  20. Thank you Jacfsing2 Paji. Guruji tells us here how false the world can be, but we forget, and they tell us that we should praise Waheguru, the one that will help us.

  21. Thank you Harsharan Paji, but I'm afraid I do have some of the anti-virtues you mentioned, probably a some of all. I believe that every soul is not without these emotions, as from birth, that they exist in humans, as they are natural reactions. But it's about controlling them, so as they do not hurt one's own soul and of another. We can work towards reducing them, and only with the grace of God, will they eliminate and bring us closer to their path of enlightment. The blessed ones are graced with this, not me, as I am but a sinner. Ŧa▫o guṇ pacẖẖāṇėh ṯā parabẖ jāṇėh guṇah vas avgaṇ nasai. If thou knowest His virtues, then shalt thou know the Lord and like this, merits shall abide in thee and demerits shall flee away. SGGS ji. Ang 436 ?? Dhan Guru Nanak Dev ji I am nothing, it is my Lord, who has all the gun (virtues). ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥ मेरे साहिबा कउणु जाणै गुण तेरे ॥ Mere sāhibā ka▫uṇ jāṇai guṇ ṯere. 23. the only way to stop this is to stop putting money in the golak and stop booking akhand paths at gurdwaras. learn to do akhand paths at home and save all the money your puting in the golak every month and use that to buy books and Gurmat related material for the sangat.

  27. Mexican refugees? LOL! Do you even understand what constitutes a refugee? It is being followed. Nobody is stopping you from practicing the right to free speech. If anybody did, they would be arrested and charged under the law. However free speech does not allow you to disrupt a private rally. In the name of free speech, you do not have the right to break into a private rally and shout your views into somebody's face. A rally is a private event. This is akin to me breaking down your house door to shout out my views on you into your face. That is not free speech. If you still do not understand this point it is most like because you lack morals. Please do not invoke the Divine to support your narrow ideological view point as you are no Sant or Baba. Don't let your arrogance get the better of you.

  28. No he did not. He said (after he was reminded the other part of the question towards the end) he would like to?? but this (banning certain sect into the country) needs to be done first and is more important. You are free to vote whoever you want to but I need to warn you to mind your words 'Mister'. Even a child can conclude from the video that he did not intend to answer the simple question put forward by the brave police officer.
