Good job for Manpreet Singh Kanpuri for keeping our respect high.

  2. This is kind of weird wording. "Indian religions" will celebrate "Guru Nanak Dev ji's birthday"? This wording must have been provided a Gurdwara committee. If it were just the Government, they probably would have just said "Guru Nanak's birthday". I mean, do you think a Government would add PBUH after Mohammed? So, given as the wording was probably provided by a Sikh, why would they say "Indian religions"? I fully realize many non-Sikhs are shardaloos of Guru ji. But not the entire religions themselves.

  7. Before posting this article, did you take the following in to account: It took Guru Ji and the sangat a month to reach from Gwalior to Sri Amritsar Sahib. They went to Lahore first and punished Chandu. The day they all arrived at Sri Amritsar Sahib, sangat had lighted devas (oil and wick). The night was illuminated by the light from the devas. The Sikh sangat did not celebrate Diwali as per the events of Ramyan. Sikhs celebrated the home coming of their Guru. If the two days fall on the same day, then that does not mean that Sikhs celebrate the events of Ramayan...

  8. Thank you Amardeep Singh. Nice article. There is no question that the way the Bandi —— day is celebrated, it is an alibi for actually celebrating Diwali to pretend that Sikhs don’t celebrate to try to emphasize that Sikhs are separate from Hindus. How many Sikhs all over India who participate in the festival even know that they are celebrating bandi Chhor divas day and are even familiar with this history. It is also immaterial whether Guru sahib was imprisoned for how long. Truth is Sikhs have organically grown out of largely Hindu culture. Hinduism is not even a religion. It is merely a geographic description. So Sikhs have largely remained aligned with Hindu way of cultural life. May I ask a question to those who are research oriented. Did all guru sahiban themselves and their devotees- Sikhs in their life celebrate these Hindu festivals like Diwali? please enlighten us on this subject. I don’t think evaluating cultural events on basis of Gurbani is quite appropriate. Gurbani is entirely focused on spiritual development. That is the reason that Gurbani or Guru Granth Sahib Is so unique compared to other scriptures. When Sikhs celebrate Diwali they don’t go to temples and do puja etc. So Diwali is is merely is a social event for merry making. I am totally against all the fire works. It is a crime against environment and a major health hazard and should be strongly limited. Disney world in Orlando has daily for works. All over the world new year is celebrate with heavy fireworks. It is bad. Humans need some sort of festivities to celebrate life. May Waheguru bless you all

  12. Because you are too thick to understand simple stuff like that there is no casteism in Sikhi I am saying again that Those having the false pride of caste are called "fool" and "ignorant" in the Gurbani. To put it otherwise, as the Gurbani indicates, those who practice caste distinction and feel pride of their belief in Jaat-Paat are foolish and spiritually ignorant beings. : Jaat kaa garab n kar moorakh gavaaraa. Is garab te chalahi bahut vikaaraa ||1||Rahaaou||...: Do not be proud of your (higher or ਉੱਚੀ) Jaati, you ignorant fool! So much Bikaar comes from this pride. ||1||Rahaaou|| Every one says there are four Varan (four social classes or caste - Brahmin, Khatri, Vaish, Shoodar - but) all emanate from God's Seed (from One Light). ||2|| As the potter shapes all sorts of vessels, similarly, so is this entire universe (shaped from One Clay of God's Light). ||3|| The five elements join together, to make up the form of the human body. Who can say which has less (elements), and which has more (elements)? ||4|| (sggs 1127-1128).

  14. Wake up. It isn't even going in the right direction. Take a look at most modern 'Panjabi' films and a lot of the songs (by this I mean those released in last few years). They are heavily caste based. Maybe we should face facts and hold our hands up at the truth? Is this problem is entirely of our own making.

  15. That's why Dalits are following ram Rahim, they see his preaching of 'insaan'iate inclusive and not exclusive which I'm sorry to say is happening in Sikhi via caste based guru ghars. I need to learn what Guru Sahib teaches in his writings in order to explain that it is not exclusive but for all humanity.

  16. Thanks for your question. I have had this avatar when I first joined the forum and haven't changed it since. At the time I identified as being British Sikh which I still do. Even though there have been many atrocities by the British in history I don't let this get in the way of knowing that I was fortunate enough to attend a Sikh school in this country and completing my education at uni. I would like to contribute to the society around me and think Sikhi is the way to starvation in the world and provide justice to those who are abused or oppressed. In order to do this we need to be organised and a Khalsa Military Academy is a step in the right direction. Would you attend a Khalsa Military Academy Big Tera?

  17. Oh okay, so some of us still haven't progressed beyond imagining themselves as some sort of mercenary in another quom's army fighting in wars that have nothing to do with our people or our interests. Like we didn't do that enough for the British.... If people haven't twigged onto just how dubious today's wars are - then they absolutely must be retarded. I'm not in favour of any apnay playing soldier boy (essentially some sort of pawn) in some overly-privileged white man's wars. Any apna risking his/her neck for the Blairs/Bushes or Trumps of the world are straight mugs.

  19. Huh?!!? Mate get a hobby!!! How on earth can you have a problem with people saying satnam vaheguru!? Seriously i cant believe you have the time to sit there and think of such stupid yes stupid issues!! You say what right do people have of combining words. Well is the word satnam an ordinary word? is vaheguru an ordinary word? I mean how stupid must you be to compare gurbani jaap to making up your own words!? bapu da lagda. Strange how every gursikh i have ever met has encourged everyone to read gurbani whether amritdhari or not and if they havent yet taken amrit that they should. But then so called katar strict 'gur'mat following 'gursikhs' like you pop up and question why these people are allowed to read gurbani?!! I take it you never said vaheguru, or mool mantar or did any gurbani before you took amrit? What a shambles man that people have nothing better to do then this!! Those who actually want to do vahguru's bhagti will do it, those who want to do pakhand and waste time on this will follow thier own irka filled path.

  20. What a total waste of time. Satnam is another name of waheguru, just like Madho, Sai, Beethla, Raam. Satnam Waheguru is perfectly acceptable. Okay so it is not Gurmanat or Mool mantar, if some one says Satnam Waheguru it is a million times better then not saying it at all. This is like a discussion between a group of people, one side said Mool mantra is up to "Nanak hosi bhi satch" the other group said it is up to "Gurparsad Jap", this debate continued for half an hour when a passer by asked how many of you actually sit down in the morning and do simran of mool mantra whether it be up to 'Gurparsad Jap' or 'Nanak hose bhi satch'...................... silence. <<< Moreover, I feel we shud not make gurmantar so khullaa. Only a person who has TAKEN gurmantar from Guroo roop Punj shud be encouraged to chant the gurmantar. >>>> So you would discourage a person who is sejdhari to stop chanting Waheguru ??????? My God ! We should be encouraging all to do as much simran as possible so that they start following the true path, and here we are going to start stopping people to naam jap................. nice one!
