  1. Even if there were a small group of fighting men, they'd most likely be quickly overwhelmed and eliminated over there (with at least covert state support), and then we can all guess what will happen to the females.

  2. Look at the state of the place right now, this'll only get worse. Minorities there are in deep trouble. The 'state' over there is losing control. We all know how many of these people behave when they have unrest, especially towards nonmuslim females.

  3. This paradox only works with the Abrahmic conception of God which is that of a creator and a creation which is a completely separate entity from God. Gurmat teaches that Vaheguru is "IK OANKAAR" - this is an all pervading "force" so to speak which in our universe takes the form of the sound "Oaannn(g)". This force has a mind and personality (not an impersonal force), it pervades everyone and everything. No part of creation is separate from this - what is perceived to be a created thing is simply a wave eminating from the ocean that is Vaheguru, i.e. the creation and creator are one. Therefore this concept of creation and destruction as we know it, and how it is posed in the paradox question, is an illusion that does not exist - all that exists is oneness (Vaheguru) in various forms. The above answer alone should cover it, but to add an extra layer, should Vaheguru wish to engage in this, he certainly can - One way of explaining what " Ik OANKAAR" is is to say that it is actually the sum total of everything and more. Ik OANKAAR can at one time take any "God form" he likes and also the form of such an unliftable rock -both are God. Then, should God so decide he wants to, he can make another form of himself which then lifts the rock. The sakhi of how Harnakhash was killed despite him having a divine boon which seemingly made him immortal is a great example of divine creativity being far beyond limited human intelligence and that ultimately God can literally do anything in a way that mere human brains could never conceive. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was also displaying divine creativity when he created the multi-tassled chola. In short, Vaheguru can not be limited in anyway and can answer absolutely anything.

  5. Jallianwala Bagh. 13 April 1919. Twenty-two-year-old Nanak Singh joins the mass of peaceful protestors agitating against the Rowlatt Act. What then turns out to be one of the worst atrocities perpetrated by the British Raj, and a turning point in India s independence movement, also becomes a life-changing experience for Nanak Singh, who survives the massacre, unconscious and unnoticed among the hundreds of corpses. After going through the traumatic experience, Nanak Singh proceeds to write Khooni Vaisakhi, a long poem in Punjabi. The poem was a scathing critique of the British Raj and was banned soon after its publication in May 1920. After sixty long years, it was rediscovered and has been translated into English for the first time by the author s grandson, Navdeep Suri. Featuring the poem in translation and in original, this bilingual book is accompanied by essays from Navdeep Suri, Punjabi literature scholar H.S. Bhatia and BBC correspondent Justin Rowlatt. Khooni Vaisakhi is not only a poignant piece of protest literature but also a historical artefact and a resurrected witness to how Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims came together to stand up to colonization and oppression in one of India s https://www.amazon.co.uk/Khooni-Vaisakhi-Jallianwala-Massacre-Plans/dp/9353029384

  6. That's not going to happen. As far as such people are concerned: they are at war. Doing this to the perceived enemy is a winner for them. It demoralises the community, and they feel that it makes them look strong. It's that old chestnut of trying to show people up as incapable of looking after their females.

  8. Let's be honest, the vast majority that I've met who immigrate here to become 'builders' are juts. And to be frank, the great reputation tarkhans made in this industry in the UK is slowly being eroded by lots of these who have no love for the trades and just see it as a quick way to make big bucks (cutting corners). Now whilst this is not true of all juts who've gone into construction, more and more are coming in and cowboying away, doing ruddhi quality work, ripping customers, and each other off. It's a disgrace and it looks like another thing these people are going to ruin. I've seen a fair few jobs where people (nonSikhs) have hired such people and the work has been so substandard that they've been put off hiring another apna. I think Malwa will be okay, don't know about Majha but those lot need to sort out the corrupt mess on their doorstep with the SGPC/Akali Dal in Amritsar. Doaba is looking like a lost cause. It's like the concept of dharam is alien to most of them, and they've made the fantasist vichaars of people like Moosewala and caste identity into their gospel. How the hell are we going to blame anyone else, when these things are largely self-inflicted. And a lot of the 'labourers' obviously don't come from poor families because they can afford the large fees the benauti colleges charge for them to stay here.

  10. I don't agree. A particular caste seems hell bent on 'reserving' every last resource and opportunity for themselves. They wont willingly share and appear to believe they have some 'divine right' to all privileges because of their caste, to the exclusion of others, who they have a long history of having antipathy for. Given this pervasive attitude and culture - there seems little choice other than reservations. It's like expecting white supremacists to give blacks a chance in the USA. Ain't happening. Never will. That's why you have to have things like reservations sadly. These people need to straighten themselves out and quickly too. Or it's on their heads. Like these people haven't been 'fostering divisions' with their own long-standing behaviour. Sadly, change is urgently required in Panjab. If people aren't willingly going to act in a more civilised, egalitarian and progressive way - conflict is probably inevitable.

  11. I think the greatest danger that we face is our own people's lack of unity, and the key culprit for that mess, is simply caste. Nail this, and we'll be united and strong. Fail to do this, and I think the consequences are obvious. I think all the people who sweep this under the rug should be ashamed of themselves and are guilty of putting us in danger more than any outsider.

  13. In the last few years we have seen a surge in the amount of Sanatanis or Hindu Sikhs. Before this was limited in India due to RSS and other Hindutva propaganda but it has spread to the west to the Sikh youth, especially in the UK. After Guru Gobind Singhs Joti Jot there was a turbulent time with several wars, massacres and Sikhs had to hide in jungles. Sikhi was in tact till the mid of the 18th century, after which Udasi/Hindu influences crept into mainstream Sikhi due to their role as caretakers of Gurdwaras (they were even responsible for the management of Kesgarh and Nanded). The history dated between 1750 - 1850, a period which saw Sikhi being almost being swallowed into the larger Hindu fold is often used by Sanatani 'Sikhs' and some Hindus to categorize us as Hindus. This is just a concise post with some historical references to counter these Sanatanis. Dabistan e Mazaheb written by Zulfikar Ardistani (also attributed to Mohsin Fani) in the 17th century provides the fact that Sikhs back then did not worship idols, they did not venerate Sanskrit, the Mandirs or recite Hindu Mantras. Sikhan Di Bhagat Mala (early 18th century) attributed to Bhai Mani Singh, when recounting the Sakhi of Bhai Jodh and Bhai Dhesi's conversion (Sikhs of 5th Guru) tells us that they stopped worshipping the Ganga river, Kashi, fasting on Ekadashi and discarded Sanskrit. Instead they read Bani in Gurmukhi. I got some more historical sources, Waheguru willing I will write a complete article one day.

  17. the whole picture has to be addressed , they will eventually with the helpful assistance of the bheki sikh committees introduce hindu elements into the gurdwara, the youngsters will be convinced that it has always been a part of the whole thing etc etc and there you go the erosion of more sikh values . Nothing to say golak has to be large amount of money can put donations as foodstuffs for langar etc . Why are we not getting proven embezzlers arrested and processed in the law courts. Don't tell me we are worried about what people will say, if one guy gets jailed the others will get scared and start behaving . It is this fact that they will not get confronted that emboldens them to misbehave , I'm mean I've heard of gurdwara properties being sold and the monies embezzled yet the guy is still free on the streets and still coming into the Gurdwara to make trouble. This is not India we can get full justice here if we just draw the line in the sand.

  19. Why do we prerequisite being 'amritdhari' to speak up for Panthic issues? Many times I have seen people demanding others to take Khande di Pahul before talking about Panthic issues. But are the really two related? Jinnah, who founded Pakistan - the home for the Indian Muslims - was a non practising Muslim who enjoyed wine, women and pork. Theodor Herzl - founding father of Zionism - was a cultural Jew and a self admitted atheist.

  20. Bhai Ghanaiya wasn't wearing armour and was carrying a mushq a bit different from the others , plus he was attending to the fallen crying out for pani ... I'm sure if someone had attacked he would have been capable of dispatching them but, the truth is no-one there was in that condition, they were all mortally wounded since people were fighting to death. yes today's muslims wouldn't even have honour on the battlefield , I agree so we need to keep that in mind , no-one has chivalry like the sikhs did then but as dirtiness of the enemies tactics and behaviour has increased we need to measure against our standard and reject it and if necessary annihilate it .

  22. Just a quick note. When we look at the Palestinian issue, you'll find religious Muslims and secular/non-religious Muslims united in the Palestinian cause. Just take a glance at any demonstration in London. They have unity, that's the key. Now, cast your eyes to the Khalistan issue or other panthic issues, non-Amritdhari's (the vast majority of Sikhs) are usually invisible. Is this a good thing? This is despite, I may add, that an overwhelmingly strong support for Khalistan from the non-Amritdhari Sikhs. This is despite the fact that there is a wealth of talent, lawyers, etc who could do a better job than the overweight uncle-ji's but are prevented from coming forward. The same is true for Jews and Israel. Israel was established on the backs of approximately 7% ultra-orthodox Jews - yes, only 7%. The other 93% were NOT made to feel sub-human or worthless. Without them, there probably would be no Israel today. Look at the Knesset, the Israeli parliament. It's hardly saturated with Hasidic Jews. But, they have unity. Sikhs are a tiny community as it is. We need to stick together.

  23. Veer ji , OK the examples you gave were not Khalsa in 1699 sense , but they were all gursikhs followed rehit , read a nitnem of banis and so gave their all to Guru ji, and got charanamrit and naam ...that is why they got parampad ... without guru ji's acceptance we cannot progress Khalsa rehit is the final code for Gursikhs, ALL Gursikhs should follow it since they have been given the title of Guru Panth in that state. Sikhs are Gursikhs otherwise whose Sikhs are they? The Khalsa accepts Guru ji's Hukam and hukham is other religions do exist , we also accept Guru ji's jot is in every sentient being thus we accept that jot makes all one , it doesn't mean we agree with other religions or should follow any of their traditions just accept their existence. Before Khalsa saajna, Guru ji always had covenant with his Gursikhs think Makhan Shah Lubhana and all the other sakhis where Gursikhs wishes and prayers for darshan were granted .

  25. I have seen too few comments on facebook, forums and other social media regarding the arrest of Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara. But we need to react as a Qaum, especially from the diaspora to stop Bhai Taras deportation to India. Bhai Tara has a valid Pakistan passport and has visited Thailand many times in the past. He should therefore be deported to Pakistan in the worst case scenario. If he is deported to India, torture and jailing for life without any court decisions are certain (just like for Bhai Hawara and others). We can (try to) save atleast one more Singh from being jailed for life, abused and denied basic human rights.

  27. The political correctness is ruining our Nation. The 'all religion leading to God' mentality is a major cause for inter-faith marriages and conversions of Sikhs. The idea does not find any place in Gurmat, for religious practices of Islam, Hinduism, Jainism were rejected and heavily criticised in Dhur Ki Bani, Guru Granth Sahib. The Gurus and Bhagats rejecting Islam (Hajj, Circumcision and Ramadan) I do not keep fasts, nor do I observe the month of Ramadaan. (M5, 1136, Guru Granth Sahib) Because of the love of woman, circumcision is done; I don't believe in it, O Siblings of Destiny. Devotee Kabir (Bhagat Kabeer, 477, Guru Granth Sahib) The Gurus and Bhagats rejecting Hinduism (Idol Worship, Teerath Yatra, Ekadashi fast amongst others) I have stopped fasting on Ekadashi; why should I bother to go on Teerath to sacred shrines? (Bhagat Naamdev, 718, Guru Granth Sahib) O brother, why worship idols of gods and goddesses, what can you ask of them and what can they give to you? What is the use of washing stones, which themselves drown in water? (M1, 637, Guru Granth Sahib) I have searched many Shastars and Simrtis, they do not show the way to God, but contemplation on God is invaluable. (M5, 264, Guru Granth Sahib) Guru Nanak Sahib's satire of Jainism (about 5 million followers) Shalok, First Mehl: They pluck the hair out of their heads, and drink in filthy water; they beg endlessly and eat the garbage which others have thrown away. They spread manure, they suck in rotting smells, and they are afraid of clean water. Their hands are smeared with ashes, and the hair on their heads is plucked out-they are like sheep! They have renounced the lifestyle of their mothers and fathers, and their families and relatives cry out in distress. ... (M1, 148, Guru Granth Sahib Ji)

  28. Which Hindu Bhagats Bani is in Guru Granth Sahib? Gurbani is united under one Soch, one Veechar because it is Dhur Ki Bani so it is not contradictory; all Gurus and Bhagats had the same views. Bhagat Kabeer Ji met Guru Nanak Sahib in Magaar (UP), Sultanpur and many other places. The Puratan Goindwal Pothis say 'Kabeer Nama(dev) Bhagat Guru Babe Ke'. Mehervaan Janamsakhi records the incident where several Bhagats (including Bhagat Kabeer Ji and Bhagat Naamdev Ji) were ordered by Akaal Purakh to go and meet Jagat Guru Nanak Sahib. Its not about followers its about the essential practises. You need to go on Hajj and keep Ramadan fast if you are a practising Muslim, right? Gurbani rejects that, so how doesn't it reject Islam?

  29. Not every Muslim is out to give Dawah? Brother, every committed Muslim is out to give Dawah and is at war with Dar Ul Harb (non Islamic world). If a Muslim is peaceful he is not yet acquaint with the content of the Al Quran and the Hadith. Puratan Singhs knew <banned word filter activated> inside out and they were (rightly) high handed in their approach to them, you can look at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Akali Phula Singh or Hari Singh Nalwa.

Furthermore one can only reach to the level of spirituality or Avastha 'their' Guru reaches and not surpass them. Mukti can only be achieved through Guru Nanak Sahibs House no where else. 35. Yeah, damn those Sikhs! They will surely go to hell along with all other non-Sikhs from whom we should always have allergy! On a serious note, who is having allergy? If you're referring to me, I have clearly stated that Sikhi is the best without a speck of doubt. I have clearly stated that nothing comes close to even the shadow of Sikhi. My only question is if we (or should I say you people) can show the world the light of Gurmat in a way that it draws people towards it? I am not saying we should sugarcoat the true and firm principles of Gurmat and adjust them for others. I am stressing the mode of communication, the way in which you deliver your message. Because unless you folks are BrahmGyanis, I doubt you can mock a faith and still have its adherents come to Gurmat. If you're not referring to me, then never mind.

  36. I am not sure what made you presume that anyone disagrees with you. Anyways... Sikhi is not like Semitic faiths where non-Sikhs are doomed to eternal damnation. Fact is the soul gets what it aims for. Non-Sikhs aim for some heaven or the planet of which ever deity they worship, and they get it by being good human beings. Sachkhand is something Guru Sahib details and so to get there one has to take aasra of Shabad Guru. Today that happens by taking Amrit from Panj Pyaare and living your life based on Gurmat. No questioning that. I'll still answer your questions... 1) Why are integral parts, rituals of many religions fully condemned in Gurbani? Guru Sahib has mocked and condemned them, and I accept His word as final and so I stay away from them. Since I am nowhere close to His level, I have no right to mock and/or condemn them myself, although I am still under orders to keep away from them at all times. 2) Do you believe all religions lead to God or only some (if so specify)? Please read Sukhmani Sahib about which religion leads to God. Again, Guru Sahib has already stated this, I am no one to comment. 3) How do you determine that a religion is genuine (= leads to God) or not? Bhaniarawala has followers, and Gurmeet Ram Raheem has millions of followers, do his followers reach God also through him? If not then the statement that all paths lead to God is wrong. I repeat, please read Sukhmani Sahib. This is an online Sikh forum which is possibly frequented by non-Sikhs as well who are looking for inspiration, motivation and the divine lustre of Akaal Purakh in their lives. Not every Hindu coming here is an RSS agent to convince you that Sikhs are Hindus, not every Muslim coming here is there to do Dawah and convince you that Guru Sahib was a Muslim, not every Christian coming here is an evangelist out to proselytize you into believing Jesus is the only way, and by that logic, not all Sikhs on this forum are here for a good purpose either, sorry to say. People come here thinking they can actually find something good here which will change their life and move it towards a higher spiritual plane. All they get once they land here is "Hindus are losers, Muslims are animals" sort of environment. If some non-Sikh comes here to cause trouble, I don't need to tell you guys what is done to them, you know it very well, so please make sure to report such folks as well. My only purpose is that those genuine non-Sikh seekers of Vaheguru (who have obviously reduced to near zero in the past years) coming on this site are not pushed away from the track of Sikhi even before they've embarked on it. YES, Sikhi is THE best without a speck of doubt. No other religion comes close even to the shadow of Sikhi. YES our history is full of true instances of Hindus/Muslims betraying/oppressing Sikhs. No doubt! But for God's sake, please spare those innocent souls on this forum who happen to be non-Sikhs and have nothing to do with that history, and are here only searching for the light of Vaheguru, who are on here only to find the purpose of their life in the light of Gurbani. You tell them "Oh you know what, your faith is hopeless! Become a Sikh and get a Get Out Of Jail Free card!" What do you think their reaction will be? You keep feeding them "We're the best and you suck" therapy, how long you think they're going to take it? I don't know/care what kind of non-Sikhs you people deal with on a daily basis in your real (non-Internet) lives. But when you log on to this website, keep in mind that somewhere someone searching for the light of Gurmat is reading your words. Make sure you don't distract them from the track much before them even realizing what they are looking for. How many of you have ever tried (in real life, not online) to communicate in a polite manner with a non-Sikh about Gurmat? How many non-Sikhs have you been able to convince compassionately that Gurmat is THE BEST? Oh I forgot, you are allergic to them, so no chance! Forget it, forget I even asked that question! Sorry, my bad. BTW, when I say "you", I am not referring specifically to SikhKosh, its directed at all of you who at some point on this forum have (and I am sure of this) caused nothing but disappointment to anyone coming here searching for Vaheguru by your "My way or the highway" talk. God be with them, and may God save you guys! Guru Sahib, thank You! Thank You for introducing me to this forum in 2003 and not anytime after. The last time this forum saw something inspirational/motivational that would bring a non-Sikh a step closer to Gurmat was like when? Maybe 2005? Yeah, not after that ever.

  39. Yes, but my only point is that we should stop the parchar that all religions lead to God, Hindus and Muslims wrote in Guru Granth Sahib etc. It does more bad than good. How often haven't you heard Sikhs married to non Sikhs justify it by saying 'but doesn't Sikhi say that all religions are good and lead to God?' ... There is a difference between saying a religion is wrong and actively promoting the killing of all non-believers. We respect all, we will defend them if need arises BUT we do not agree to their religious practices because they are simply wrong. Evelyn Hall in Voltaires biography wrote a line which comes to mind: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".
