vahegurooo Ji ka Khalsaaaaah, Vaheguroooo Ji ka Fateeeeeeh!

Within Gurbani or has Bhai Gurdas Sahibji provided any the references to what occurred on Satguru Nanaks wedding day?

I appreciate your help and a Hindu states that Satguru's rites were done according to Hindu custom.

Baldeep.

He wrote Bani on a "fatti" and took rounds around it instead of fire. Sikhs used to get married the same way as Guru Ji until 4th Nanak Ji composed Lavan in Soohi Raag. Then the new way of Anand Karaj was introduced and has been the same since then. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji had the same Anand Karaj we have today. Four lavan around Gurbani and Ragis did Kirtan. get a copy of "Vaartak Gur Partap Sooraj Granth" not sure if it is still being printed. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Guru Nanak Ji refused so the brahmans got mad and were making plans to knock and old wall on Guru Ji. Guru Ji was sitting on the other side of a titled wall. Guru Ji's dad also wanted a marriage to be done the Hindu way but the brahmans were really mad. So the plan was to knoeck the wall on Guru Ji and someone went to Guru Ji and told what the plan was. Guru Ji replied by saying, "Relax! Don't worry. This wall will stand here for centiries." The wall is still standing. It is tilted. A Gurudwara is built there. The wall is inside the Gurudwara. Gurudwara is called Kandh Sahib.

yes, i believe Guru Nanak wrote either Beej Mantar (Ik Oankar) or the whole Mool Mantar on a piece of paper, placed it on a platform with beautifull cloths, and did circles around it instead.

Most of the guests, priests, family members were upset, but little did they know who 'Nanak' really was.

Dhan Guru Nanak

Dhan Guru Nanak

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Excerpt from the publication "The Life of Guru Nanak Dev Jee" -

The Guru was married in May 1487, at the age of 18 years.  The marriage procession was taken to Batala, which is situated on the rail-road Amritsar – Pathankot.

According to Meharban’s Janam Sakhi (Meharban was the son of Prithi Chand, older brother to Guru Arjan Dev), the following episode is given.  It is said that Guru Nanak refused to marry according to the Brahmanical rites and suggested a simple wedding  ceremony.  The Brahmins resisted and Baba Mool Chand Chauna refused to marry his daughter to Guru Nanak according to any other rites.  He even threatened to send the wedding party back.  The Bhandari family of Batala agreed to marry their daughter  to Guru Nanak if Baba Mool Chand Chauna  broke his daughter’s engagement to Guru Nanak.  Mool Chand then at once relented, but agreed on he condition that Guru Nanak must convince the Brahmins that the ceremony he proposed was better.  A discussion was arranged.  It was raining that day.  At the time of discussion Guru Nanak was given a seat near a crooked mud-wall, which was about to fall.  Mool Chand expected victory from either of the two scores.  Either Guru Nanak would be defeated by the Brahmins, or a little push given to the wall could kill him.  An old lady, who came to know about the conspiracy, fore warned Guru Nanak.  The Guru told the lady that the wall would not fall for centuries.

The mud wall at Batala, near which the wedding ceremonies of the Guru were performed, is still preserved.  A fair is held at this place in September every year to commemorate the wedding ceremony of the Great Guru.
