i kept thinking to myself what on earth happened to bhai bala ji descendants, but when i went on ss to ask, my mind turned into that of a fish and would go into all sorts of pakhandi acts.

bhai bala ji...i myself would love to know about his descendants, where they are etc.

bhai mardana ji was a trusted servant to guru angad dev ji also. and from guru arjun dev jis time they did keertan at sri darbar sahib right until the partition in 47.

the family are still around and i think they now live in lahore somewhere. if anyone goes to the yatra to pakistan, you will be sure the co-ordinators go to the local guru ghar where they do keertan there (well, thats what i saw on a video once)

In reality, Bhai Bala never existed. He was a fictious character pushed into our history to destroy us. It was hard for me to believe at first, but it is the reality.

There are several flaws in his version of Janam Sakhi about Sri Guru Nakan Dev Ji which he claims that Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji asked him to write.

In his Janam Sakhi, he clamis that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a great Hindu, but lower in spirituality than Bhgat Kabir and Hundal. Also he tries to prove that Guru Nanak Dev Ji did not come to the world to liberate the world, but because of his own karma and liberate himself. There are countless other anti-gurmat sakhis and things written in his janam sakhi that are hard to believe.

Also, the language of this Janam Sakhi is very very moderen and is not of the period of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji, which proves that someone wrote this Sakhi longgggg after by creating a fictious charactyer, Bala and linked him with Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Nanak Dev Ji's companion. In that Sakhi, Bala also writes tha whatever he is writing is all truth becuase all the things he is writing he has seen them with his eyes becauas he was with Guru Nanak Dev Ji ALL the time, which is totally wrong, becuase if that were true then why didn't Bhai Gurdas Ji mention his name in his Baani. Bhai Sahib mentioned only Bhai Mardana as Guru Nanak Dev Ji's companion.

There are sooo many other points... To find out more please read 'Katik Ke Vaisakh' by Karam Singh Historian.

on sikh- history.com i found this information on bhai bala ji

Bhai Bala Ji (1466 A.D. 1544 A.D)

BHAI Bala who was a life-long companion of Guru Nanak, was the son of Chandar Bhan, a Sandhu Jatt of Talvandi Rai Bhoi, now Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. Three years senior in age to Guru Nanak, he was his childhood playmate in Talvandi. From Talvandi, he accompanied Guru Nanak to Sultanpur where he stayed with him a considerable period of time before returning to his village.

According to Bala Janam Sakhi, Bhai Bala at the instance of Rai Bular set out from Talvandi to join Guru Nanak who had already left Sultanpur on his travels abroad and met him in Bhat Lalo's home at Saidpur. After Guru Nanak's passing away, Guru Angad, Nanak invited Bala from his native Talvandi to come to Khadur and narrate to him events from the First Guru's life. Very graphic, if somewhat miraculous, is the version contained in an old text, the Mahima Prakash. To quote: "Guru Angad one day spoke to Bhai Buddha, 'Seek the disciple who accompanied the Master, Guru Nanak, on his journeys far and wide, who heard his preaching and reflected on it, and who witnessed the many strange events that occurred; secure from him all the circumstances and have transcribed a volume which may please the hearts of those who should apply themselves to it.' Bala Sandhu made his appearance."

The anecdotes narrated by Bala were recorded in Gurmukhi characters in Guru Angad's presence by another Sikh, Paira Mokha. The result was what is known as Bhai Bale Vali Janam Sakhi, a biographical account of Guru Nanak's life. Bhai Bala died in 1544 at Khadur Sahib. A memorial platform, within the precincts of Gurdwara Tapiana Sahib, marks the site where his mortal remains were cremated.

waheguru ji kekhalsa, waheguru ji ke fateh

Pyare jio, most people believe Bhai Bala ji is an invention of the hindu right-wing groups. Sahib Siri Guru Nanak dev ji was only accompanied by Bhai Mardana ji. I cannot think of one sakhie of Sahib Siri Guru Nanak dev ji which has bhai Bala ji in it. They are all with Bhai Mardana ji only.

Both hindus and muslims claimed Guru ji as their own. Gurbani is clear that Guru ji belonged only to Akaal.

However to counter-act Guru ji being claimed as a muslim, hindus created Bhai Bala ji in old texts. However most scholars and Gursikhs now agree there is no prove to his existence.

Maybe sikh-history.com may want to do further research and correct their website.

    • *bump I firmly believe that one quote in regards to cannabis is not written by Guru Nanak Dev Ji (O'lord the fear of thee). B/c nasha is nasha. But cannabis is a bit a different since it was used for medicinal purposes in India also.
    • I feel gurdwaras are maybe somewhat getting back to their functions as dharmsalas containing schools and learning centres. With panjabi schools, gurmat classes, santhiya, martial arts, keertan training, with sikhi camps occasionally in towns, there is somewhat some functions connected to traditional gurdwaras of the past.
    • I do sometimes think that the function of a gurdwara has expanded to things that were not expected before. We expect them to be political institutions, we want them to be social clubs, we want them to be creches, we want them to be daycare centres.
    • there's too many Kenya Singhs in those kinda gurdwaras, really chummy chummy with the goras and politicians, fixo the beards to the max and younger generations just trimming it instead of getting into the fixo malarkey, lack of open beards and turbans you can take off like hats, don't make for intimidating or annakhi singhs. I heard that pakistanis try to pickup girls from the Slough Ramgharia gurdwara.  They need to join with the other 2 gurdwaras in Slough to help them out, they can't act like the elders did where they split from the Singh Sabha gurdwara because they were too aggressive, now is the time to use that aggression.  And the Guru Maneyo Granth gurdwara Bath Road gets nationwide sangat on Sundays, so just use those numbers in Slough! in these gurdwaras, gyanis and sewadaars are known by the regular sangat, and regular sangat is close knit. Activities and panjabi schools are also good as most of the same children come.  In both areas, I don't like the lack of cooperation between Ramgharia and Singh Sabha gurdwaras. Overall it's a benefit to have gurdwaras in at least 2 different locations in big towns and cities. But it's bad if they don't cooperate, especially in major issues that Khalsa is known for. Ramgharia gurdwaras like to rep up Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgharia, with the Slough gurdwara even having a statue. But the lack of keeping Khalsa rehit, looking too scared and cowardly to keep full beards or open beards, not acknowledging the Khalsa Nihang Singh mentality of Jassa Singh and being stuck in the kenya Singh mentality, not even willing to read Chaupai Sahib properly during Rehras, and many of these Ramgharia gurdwaras are not even willing to keep basic rehit of allowing sitting on the floor for langar and allowing shoes inside as well, all these behaviours aren't working for chardi kala of the panth! It's like they are trying to keep their own type of sikhi, it's not even a tradition, just being stuck in their own box, they are not in the colonial British army, or serving in the world wars, or making train tracks or some other jobs for the gora, why do they behave this way, this archaic stuff in gurdwara? And doesn't do justice to Jassa Singh Ramgharia, who would have been a rehitee Nihang Singh, annakhi Singhs who defeated the enemies and kept in the brotherhood of the Khalsa with the other misls, even after their whole misl was excommunicated expelled from the panth, they still rejoined the Khalsa and helped defeat the enemies! I don't see them trying to integrate with the rest of the panth in the ramgharia gurdwaras, not like Jassa Singh, obviously it's the elders who instil these mentalities, with some of the youngsters trying to connect back into sikhi!
    • Try get CBT - Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy. It is a common treatment for a range of mental health problems. CBT teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions. It can help overcome anxiety. In the UK you can self-refer to a professional service offering CBT therapy. I know a few people who have had this and it helped with their social anxiety.
