Bhangra At Nagar Kirtans

The problem in this situation is the baba who doesnt live in the uk. Any other kind of protesting will just make the remaining Coventry Nanaksar attendees feel that they are being targeted for believing in Baba Nand Singh or Baba Mihan Singh.

The main issue is that the Nagar Kirtan has been happening since the good old days when Coventry Nanaksar had a strong sangat. Therefore many who attend the nagar kirtan will do so out of nostagia or respect to the good old days. Also many will feel like other sampradas that Baba Mihan Singh would have left a sucessor and many feel even by default this is Harnek. Many will remember HArnek being the sevadar who didnt leave Baba Mihan Singh's side during his last days of ill health and therefore believe that he has earned the sucession.

What the difficult issue wiil be is to make people realise that the good old days have truely gone and HArnek is not the worthy sucessor. Nanaksar Cov attendees are probably be fully aware of the drink driving sentance passed by the Alberta courts, but still wish to believe in the Nanaksar set up by Baba Mihan Singh.

Noone can deny the Nanaksar Cov Attendees that they have acheived spritual peace over the years.

This is a mind set, there is an element of sharda here which people need to understand. Harnek has exploited this very well and no doubt the current committee of Nanaksar Cov sing from his hymn sheet aswell. Harnek causes his damage and leaves the Cov Nanaksar Attendees to pick up the pieces. Its about collating factual evidence about the Harnek. Can any Canadian Forum member get hold of the court transcripts to the Nov 2000 sentencing of Harnek?

This Nagar Kirtan is too personal for Nanaksar Cov Attendees, they dont see the manmat, they see the continuation of something that was started by a Sant. Noone will think "baba mihan singh never danced during the nagar kirtan", all this will be shrouded by the fact that the Cov Nanaksar Attendees feel victimised or that they are being picked on by the wider sangat. Its not like the Southall Nagar Kirtans where nobody owns it. The Cov Nanaksar lot actually feel as if this is their Nagar Kirtan.

In this mind set Harnek will beable to get away with murder, and has so far in India.

I totally agree that all those people who spent so much time and effort on defaming Maan Singh and Ranjit Singh totally overlooked someone who is actually very dangerous for the panth. Well there is actual factual evidence on Harnek, we have to collate this and distribute it around coventry. Maybe this will open the eyes of some of the Cov Nanaksar attendees who live in nostagia.......

Akaash, a good analysis of the situation!!! As you have rightly stated this specific nagar kirtan is too personal to the Nanaksar coventry sangat. So much so, their mind set will not see that what is going on is wrong. I read on another forum the following statement "One man's beadbi is another man's sharda". It's a bit of a blanket statement to make, but when someones spent months organising what they see as the event of the year, when that person's organisational skills is then challenged by a group of youth, they will automatically put their guard up!!!

Even if the Nanaksar coventry sangat have their doubts on Harneck Singh, guaranteed they will be defensive over the nagar kirtan and will see any criticism as an attack on Nanaksar itself. This is the mindset that needs to be tackled!!!

IS NAKLI BABA STILL HERE?

HOW COME IF HE IS BANNED FROM EVERYONE WE LET HIM DO A NAGAR KIRTAN WITH MAHARAJ?

WHY IS HE ALLOWED TO PARADE GURU JI THROUGH THE STREETS?

The issue is the baba, not the nagar kirtan. Its the baba and his allies at fault. The aim should be that the Nagar Kirtan will happen but Harnek doenst turn up because more and more people are aware of his true colours.

1. At the age of 67 he has recently been enjoying the sexual company of a 22 year old girl who has recently had his baby.

2. He has not married this girl according to any custom (let alone according to Sikh custom).

3. She is a brahmin [upper caste] Hindu who does not believe in Sikhism.

4. He is currently facing charges in Canada of misusing the money collected from the sangat. He has built a huge mansion there and is planning another in Coventry [u.K.].

5. He has been tried and charged with drunk driving offences. Documents with evidence are available from the Alberta court (in Edmonton [Canada]). Certain individuals from the sangat in Coventry are also in possession of copies of the evidence.

6. He does not believe in amrit [sikh baptization].

7. He regularly travels and stays at hotels and uses the sangat's money to finance these trips.

8. He has regulalry been seen, filmed, and photographed in boxer shorts and with his hair down at beaches in Canada.

9. He has promoted promiscuity amongst his children-followers.

10. He believes Osho Rajnish [the late Hindu cult leader who was extremely popular in the U.S.] to be a prophet greater than Guru Nanak [sikhism's founder].

11. His system of philosophy consists solely of Osho's teachings.

12. He believes that sex can take a person to God faster than nitnem [sikhism's daily regiment of prayers].

13. He has totally floundered every single teaching of his predecessor who believed only in the Guru Granth [also known as 'Adi Granth'] and only preached nitnem and amrit.

Thousands join Sikh parade

THE skies were grey and the rain came down, but nothing could dull the colour and spectacle of a massive Sikh festival in Coventry yesterday.

Thousands of people took part in a vibrant procession through Foleshill to celebrate the 340th birthday of the founder of the Gursikh Brotherhood, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Sikhs had travelled to Coventry from all over the world to take part in the parade, which started from the Nanaksar Temple, in Foleshill Road.

The focal point was a spectacularly ornate Golden Temple float, which sparked an explosion of multi-coloured ticker tape as it passed.

But it wasn't just Sikhs joining in the celebration.

Leading the procession with the distinctive sound of bagpipes was the Triumph RBL Pipe Band and also taking part was the First Ibstock Scout Band and the Phantom Knights Marching Band.

There were even Hare Krishna devotees chanting and banging drums as they danced along the street.

Pipe Major Andrew Brown, of the Triumph RBL Pipe Band, said: "It's really good to be a part of this and we always get looked after really well.

"There's lots of good food and drink as we go round."

Monindair Gill, aged 34, travels from Great Barr in Birmingham every year to take part in the celebration and he wasn't about to let the grey skies and rain dampen his spirits.

He said: "When you've got this much entertainment you don't need the weather. I always enjoy this."

Young Mandy Sandhu, aged 16, from Beresford Avenue, Foleshill, said: "I take part in this every year and every year it is always good."

People of all faiths came out of their houses on Foleshill Road to soak up the colours and sounds, including Margaret Saunders, aged 64.

She said: "I think it's wonderful that they are so devoted that they do something like this.

"I have been to India and the Sikhs are so accommodating to non-devotees. I think this is really lovely."

Neighbour Barry Harris, aged 65, agreed, saying: "I watch this every year.

"This is a multi-cultural society and I think this is absolutely marvellous.

"It's a shame the Christian church doesn't do more things like this."

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
