Questions From A Young Christian

Hello everyone ! I'm a newcomer here.

My name is Philip, I am 18 years old. I am a Christian, and I firmly believe my faith is the truth, but I am open to discuss with all sorts of religions. I'm interested to learn some more about different religions and philosophies, so I looked for a forum of young Sikhs on Google to learn to know more about the Sikh religion. I'm French, but I didn't find a French forum, so finally I registered here (so, sorry if my English isn't always perfect.) Actually, I'm preparing my A'Levels (school is general school in France until A'Levels), and next year I want to study foreign languages.

I would like to discover what Sikhism is about. I must honestly say I hardly know anything at all about Sikhism, so I'd like to get explanations about what you believe, and what you practice. Please, explain me.

And, how does on become a Sikh ?

And I'd also know what personally attracts you in Sikhism. Were you born in this religion or did you personally choose it ?

Thank you for your answers, I am here to discover

Hello everyone ! I'm a newcomer here.

Welcome

My name is Philip, I am 18 years old. I am a Christian, and I firmly believe my faith is the truth, but I am open to discuss with all sorts of religions. I'm interested to learn some more about different religions and philosophies, so I looked for a forum of young Sikhs on Google to learn to know more about the Sikh religion. I'm French, but I didn't find a French forum, so finally I registered here (so, sorry if my English isn't always perfect.) The language of Sikhism is Gurmukhi Script based on Sanskrit based on Punjabi script.

I would like to discover what Sikhism is about. I must honestly say I hardly know anything at all about Sikhism, so I'd like to get explanations about what you believe, and what you practice. Please, explain me.

There is much to explain, please see:

And, how does on become a Sikh ?

Sikhi is primarily a spiritual path for all people. The primary requisite being belief in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji - Contains the works of various Saints, Bhagats (i.e. BrahmGianni - Spiritually Wise Ones) and the Sikh Gurus. This is a compilation of Vibratory Poetic Hymns. Based on the the relationship that vibration is the Source of all, they are designed to create harmony in the mind and body so that one can connect and be in harmony with the Source via recitation of Gurbani, or Shabad Kirtan (Poetic Hymns within the Shabad Guru (Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji), meant to be recited, meditated upon, or sung aloud.

And I'd also know what personally attracts you in Sikhism. Were you born in this religion or did you personally choose it ?

Sikhism is not a missionary faith, it is a path that people may choose. It does not speak with emnity towards any person, belief or ideals.

If born into a family of Sikhs, one has to choose whether they want to adapt the disciplined lifestyle of a Sikh and take Amrit Baptism. This is the way of Practicing Sikhs. But again the requisite for all Sikhs is belief in the Shabad Guru.

Thank you for your answers, I am here to discover

There is only one God

His Name is Trurh

He is the Creator

He is without fear

He is without hate

He is beyond time (immortal)

He is beyond birth and death

He is self-existent

He is realised by the Guru's grace

Chant and meditate:

True in the primal beginning

True through the ages

True here and now

O Nanak

For ever and ever true
