I had a question that has been running through my head for a long time now and I am hoping that someone from the sangath can help me.

What does it take to be in the punjh piyaaray? are there any type of qualifications sort of thing? Can someone who has asked to be in the punjh??

I think u need to be amrtidhari if u wanna be one among Panj Pyare.I have seen many of my fnrdz in panj pyare in various nagar kirtans.And if u wanna 'chhakka' amrit then u need to know all the ceremonies needed to 'chhaka' amrit.

My knowledge is very limited so this is what I think.

You need to have Panj Baniya 'Kunth' (know them by heart)

Living in a SIKHI jeevan,

be in a REALLY high spritual stage, as your giving spirituality to the person who's taking Amrit

To be one of the panj pyaray you must:

- Be an amritdhari sikh

- Do your nitnem everyday amritvela

- Have 5 banian memorized (kunth)

- Be a rehatvaan sikh, meaning you live according to the rehat given by akaal takht (could be just gurmat maryada)

- Must have pure amrit, meaning you haven't done any of the kureits, or been peshed in front of the panj pyaray

There maybe more points, but those are just a few I could think of.

Bhaisahib Bhai Rama Singh Jee said that the Panj Pyaare should be chardi kala GurSikhs coz when they give Amrit, they give part of their own kamaaee to the ones who get Amrit.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the sangat chooses the panj pyareh, that we shouldn't ask to be one of the panj for whatever reasons. But I don't think there's anything wrong with asking.

actually... if someone has done one of the four bajjar kurehits then he/she is disqualified for this sewa. if you have done pesh for something else (non bajjar kurehit) and are not kicked out of the panth or something. you can still be a candidate for this sewa (provided you have the jeevan for it)

-should also have a lots of simran in your "account"
