I guess im lukier than some of you guys, im the oldest in my family so all my younger brothers and sisters call my bhaji, and if they dont..... mum gives them a thupar!!

lol :@

I always been bought up to call my elder cousins bhaji etc, and id feel weird with my family members calling them by their names alone, sometimes you would use their name as a prefix eg, simra bhaji... but not alone.

As far as with your mates, i agree with some that it depends on your relationship with the person, often you dont actuly know their name so you have no choice but to call them bhaji or penji. other times with people that you know it just depends on the way ur feeling at the time, i find that if your in a good sikhi mood, ie feeling guru ji's pyar and are feeling humble then you would tend to call everyone bhaji etc, or bhai sahib or bibi ji.

Else if someone of particular respect is being spoken to, then if not using brother or sister, you would say their full name eg, Baljinder Singh etc.

And of course theirs always the good old 'OIIIII'

wjkk,wjkf.

its important for people to understand that treating someone with the same respect as eg bro/sis doesn't neccessarily mean you see them as such. its more about setting the boundries;

its sort of just become a fashionable thing to call everyone paaji/panji.

personally i refuse to call someone paaji/panji unless i truely see them as such, afterall this kind of relationship is so pure & strong, it shouldn't be chucked around lightly... calling someone paaji completely removes the possibility for me to even consider any marital stance for the future with him & as mentioned before, make everyone a panji/paaji you've no one left to make your better half. B)

...its comes down to this; whatever you do, be sincere - not for show...

bhul chuk maaf

I agree with 'kaur @ guru's feet', I would only call someone a veerji/bhainji if I regard them as that. If I call them a bhainji/veerji, then I would have to accept them as my brother or sister.

Vicky veerji brought out a solid point..

Everybody that i know i always call/chat/use their first name..

most of the time using bhaenje/veerjee to me is a fakepan..

kaur @ gurus feet, i m at ur feet ^_^ :WW: ...u juz said it out plain, clear and perfect :@:@

and another thing i have noticed is that the ones whom i really love as my sisters, i hardly call them penji, and they being younger do address me as veerjee...the only time i remember calling them penji is when i have to tell them something out of love...its more of love from inside that matters rather than external verbal respect.

Waheguruji Ka Khalsa!

Waheguruji Ki Fateh!!

"Kaur@guruji's feet" said the right thing..... Its the respect that matters and we dont have to tell each other how much respect we have for each other.... we know that a fellow sikh has utmost respect for their brethern............We all are guruji's kids.....and i guess we could simply call each other by their name with "JI" or preferrably reffring each other "khalsaji"...coz thats what we are trying to be and thats motive of each one of us.........

bhul chuk maaf karni...... blush.gif
