Did our guru sahib jee used khanday deh kirpan.. From majority of pictures it looks like our guru sahibs used bended one (middle eastern style) and so far i found that Baba deep singh jee only used khanday deh kirpan (braveheart style)..

So .. did our guru sahib jee used khanda kirpan?? (very heavy and sharp on both side)

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

our guru sahib jee in war ussualy used a shamsher. this is the name in farcy given to a very long and heavy curved sword which was extremly dangerous due to its reach.

there isnt really an english term for khanda, its a khanda, just like a samurai sword is a katana, theres no other word for it, its unique.. but its best comparison is probably a broad sword, although the english never made weapons as heavy as ours, they created them to wound the enemy, our purpose was to kill with one blow and defeat, not inflict pain, this is why many real kirpans have special grooves in them to allow the blood to flow out much quicker, a faster and less painful death.

probably the best way to describe a khanda in english is a "double edged sword" but as mkhalsa mentioned its a unique sword which would be hard to explain

maharaj would have most definitly used a khanda in battle, but singhs wouldnt only use one type of shastar, teers and arrows for long range attacks, on foot use a saif or tulwar, close range attacks use a katar or pesh kabz to peirce through chain mail armour, or even the chakar on their dumalas to slash the faces of their enemies

if u pick up the book indian and oriental arms and armour by lord egerton of tatton, u will find the various types of shastars used by sikhs and north indians, ull even find a akali nihangs bunga in there :e:

the "grooves" in a tulwar have nothing to do with blood running out faster, a tulwar is a slashing shastar, not trusting, the fullering of the blade is done to make it lighter so it can be wielded easier

MKhalsa u are simply great ^_^ happy now?

Vicky Singh u need to grow up, sad now?

Vicky Singh did u have a great vacation in Punjab? Kaka Ji u should have asked the singhs in Amritsar in regards to ur question

Did our guru sahib jee used khanday deh kirpan

then they would first teach u how to question right and then chatta (singh style beating) comes second in place and then u will learn the best of Guru's time.

Have a nice day thumbsup.gif
